How do you make your hashbrowns?

The confusion and hype ends...precook potatoes in boiling water, or steamed potatoes. Refrigerate...keeps for weeks...grate and toss onto hot oiled skillet. Crisp hashbrowns. Cheap. Easy. Reliable. Crispy.
    Tasty

I use Pam to keep them from sticking, and then I use an inch or two of oil for frying. I wash the potatoes, then dry, then grate and fry. Easy.

I love hashbrowns! Now I know why I buy them frozen! Good video.

Right? Frozen and air-fried might be the way to go. I mean, a GOOD air-fryer will have presets for cooking them up just right.

I use my waffle iron to fry pre-shredded potatoes. Works every time!

My hash browns are crispy and crunchy when hot but stop getting crispier when it's colder. How can i fix it?

    Russets, yes.
Rinse WELL, yes. Oh for Pete's sake, give 'em a spin in the salad thingy.
Pan, plenty of surface area, yes. PUT 'EM IN THE SKILLET AND DON'T TOUCH 'EM UNTIL IT'S TIME TO FLIP! And don't touch 'em until...
Seasoning? Meh. Before, during and after is fine. Salt, pepper, and if you're like me, lotsa hot peppers.
Medium to medium low is good. Gotta know whatcha got and time appropriately.
Cooking oil? Lots! the more the better. This is not a diet dish. Shape?
Big circle in the skillet is perfect. Tip it out onto a plate to flip. EZPZ.
    This ain't rocket science.
Add fried eggs and bacon or sausage. Done!

Why would a non sick pan be bad? They're a tool to be used

Good catch. I've never used screws or nails to make my hash browns!

no body running a flat top doing short order goes through any of these "meticulous" steps. Nobody.

No, this is just too much. I can't be bothered even doing this. I don't know what a russet potato is. We don't have those in Australia. A spud is a spud.
