I don't do ballet but it is so interesting and so impressive to watch. You ballerinas are badass, seriously. Also you're so stunning Claudia!!! It's unreal.

As a ballet photographer (and dancer), this video helped me a lot. I sure can say do a grand jeté or a developpé but I don't always know how to fix the posture and how to say it nicely to the dancer. Your advices are very simple to understand, I think I'm gonna use them a lot! Hope you'll do another video on that subject, would be amazing!
Hi Clémence, I like your comment. - I had an idea...I bet you could find an advanced student who would do work experience with you in exchange for photos! They could help you learn more corrections for ballet students in return for their portfolio! (I know I would have done it!)
@@justme9818 I do already and it's a great help ;) but the dancers themselves don't always know the reasons why a pose is better in photography than another. I know nothing about ballet. I’m actually a middle school, public school teacher. I don’t even remember how I came to subscribe to this channel, but I love it. 1. I love Claudia’s voice. 2. One thing I really admire about Claudia is the fact that she seems totally comfortable critiquing herself. Anyway, nice photos.
I would kill for your flexibility. Okay, maybe not literally kill for it, but it certainly inspires me to get off my butt and work on my stretches. Speaking of, might you do a video about stretches and exercises that are good for non-dancers if they want to improve flexibility or just generally work on getting in shape? Ballet is never going to be in my future, but it's great exercise; I want to be able to do it safely without worrying about tearing something or straining something because I'm not doing it right. Keep on with the great content, Claudia. :-)
Hi there. Generally speaking, if your teacher is up to speed with health and safety it's quite hard to tear something in a ballet class when you're a beginner... Most dance injuries are from bad technique over a long period of time or pushing too hard. If you have a reputable teacher who teaches a gentle but challenging class you should be fine altogether! Good luck!

Is there a tutorial on how to get a better arch in your feet 😭
better arch as in pointing your feet more or reconstructing your feet? Because the latter is impossible, but I'm pretty sure you can find ways to improve your feet flexibility. Pointe work is always helpful because it stretches your feet and you are using them more, so I've noticed that immediately helps. But there are other ways!

This helped a lot! My dad does some photography and has a nice camera and all that. He doesn't know a whole lot about dance but since he's my dad I can comunicate with him very freely about when to take the photos. Since I'm a guy I'm obviously not en pointe and should probably think of having some more masculine poses among my photos, but arabesque, sissone and second develope are both great steps to use for my future shots, I think. Will definitely think about your tips to achieve the nicest looking photos. 📸

claudia~ i am not a dancer (though i wish i started ballet earlier in my life), but you still inspire me so much. i wish i did not quit ballet as a younger child, but you remind me how amazing dance is! i hope to start again, and maybe even go en pointe someday.

Hanna s i quit when i was 12, and all the other kids in my class were 8 or 9. it made me feel so insecure about myself at dance, and i gave up. :( i should have just found a different studio or something. i’m 15 now.

Hi Sophie, I've noticed something in recent years about ballet bodies... If you watch the different companies on CZcams you'll see that the dancers' body types differ from company to company. For me this was a nice thing to realise! It means there's more scope for more variety of characteristics.Also, get a group of dancers together and when you look closely enough they'll all be quite different.
It's not something to get particularly hung up on.
In terms of making the most of what you do have body conditioning is really helpful. Pilates is brilliant I think, and safe too. Good luck!

I'm a dancer as well as a photographer (specializing in dance), and I think arabesque photos look much better if the side arm is opened up toward the back leg. Depending on the space available in the studio, the lens the photographer has to use can make the hand look huge if its a whole arms length closer to the camera. I also would have turned you a little more to the front in photo #1 so that you can really see the > shape of the fondu, because sometimes fondu just makes the leg look short if you can't see the bend of the knee.
Can you do a conditioning/flexibly routine? I would love to see it!

hello, what kind of backdrop do you use? What are the measurements of the backdrop and of which material is it? Thank you 1000 times!
I learn so much from your channel!
It's funny - but honest - how she says she's going to tell you exactly how to get perfect audition photos, and then for three out of her five examples she says “My arm is too up” or “My wrist is too bent” or whatever. Not picking on Claudia because this happens to everybody... the moral of the story is to come to your photo shoot prepared to do a LOT of takes of each action, because you'll need to do most of them over and over to get everything perfect! (That's also why it's a good idea to do at least a light warmup before your shoot, because otherwise you will be super-sore the next day after doing the same actions over and over and over.) Also, one safety note if you're going to try a grand jété... photo background paper (like what Claudia's photographer is using) is SLIPPERY, and if you're not prepared for it you might go plop! Take some time to walk around on the paper first and get used to its characteristics, just as you'd do with a new stage floor.
