It's time for one of Mat's biggest & best reviews yet... He's got his hands on a classic Supermarine Spitfire! It's his first time reviewing a plane, but he's still going to give it a classic carwow review, checking out the design, the interior, and even launching it from 0-60mph!
So, what can we tell you about this Spitfire? Well, it's the Mk9 edition, and it was built back in 1944! To date, it's done about 3,000 hours of flying, and it's powered by an absolutely huge engine - a 27-litre V12 that can produce 1700hp!
So it's definitely the oldest vehicle Mat's reviewed, and it's also his first plane review! The question is, should he do more reviews like this? Let us know in the COMMENTS!

Just make another channel, call it "planewow"
Yes !!! Maybe a Nivera VS Arrma
Yeah. They're cool
Did someone else died laughing when he actually had his specialist timing gear? 😂
I was wondering if he'd have. He did not dissappoint
Meeee 🤣🤣🤣
Planewow stick of truth?😢🤷♂️
Now I know that my Punto would beat this in 0-60
The way he casually said it 😂😂😂

Mat, again, you are living the dream life. You are truly an inspiration to your fans.

The fact that the plane was in combat and its pilot shot down an enemy plane makes it a very special piece of history.
I smiled the whole way through Matts flight. How genuinely happy he was was so clear to see.
Winston Churchill was a phycopath who killed more people than Hitler in Bengal India
@@tanmaysingh267 Alright mate, fucking do one.
@@otacon5648 "Do one" ???
@@tanmaysingh267 he may well have been. But what has that got to do with the comment, or indeed Mat's review video?

Let us all take a moment to appreciate how happy Matt was... The thrill, the emotion and yet he still was able to be a CZcamsr as he mentions about links in the description below... Just epic🤣🤣🤣
right on! I would imagine I would have that same feeling if I was in an F14 Tomcat with Loggins jamming in my ear since I was the Top Gun generation.

@Alek Wolf hahaha... Probably
I was thinking the same thing lol
@@danielcraigblaauw4306 I’ve been wanting that collaboration for a year now
Oh, Mat!😂
As a flight instructor, I must say your face was worth seeing during the flight, I rarely see you soo excited and fun, I know you enjoy the cars as well, but in the spitfire, you looked like a little kid having his first roller-coaster tour with his daddy 😁
I get quite similar facial expressions from my students flying their first flight lessons 😊
Keep up the good work 👍, I love your channel ❤️
I have just imagine czech pilots flying biplane at their home and then coming to this masterpiece. To me its great honor to fly this part of our history
That's what I really love about the battle of Britain, yes it was mainly British people in the raf, it was sort of a last stand. You had everything from the polish to the (insert random European country) flying to protect the last part of Europe.
I wonder how much I can save on this through your trusted dealers 😂
You've been botted

Absolutely outstanding. My favourite reviewer, reviewing my favourite plane! Loved this video Matt, and i'm seriously going to look at having a go myself in the future!
If you ever get the opportunity to review the Eurofighter Typhoon, or F35, that would make an awesome video and you could see the comparison between the old fighter planes and the new!
I'd love to see the standing quarter time from a typhoon 😂
One of the best reviews he has done, using his style of communication made this most enjoyable, well done Matt !!!
By far the most unexpected review 🤣🤣🤣
Wasn’t expecting this! What a dope change🤟🏻
This was absolutely special. As an American I can totally understand the love for these older WW2 aircrafts that have done so much protecting our respective countries freedom.
Totally agree, I love this is probably my favourite aircraft of all time.
What an awesome piece of history. Mat's excitement really came through on this one. Loved it.
I used to work on the Battle of Britain memorial flight base in Lincolnshire! Daily low passes of spitfires, hurricanes, etc, just incredible planes!!!!!
Awesome!
Uhh... Annoying bots again?
Anyway just ignore 'em....
the growth of carwow through the years has been fantastic!

Matt. Love your excitement and passion. Can tell this has been on your bucket list.
Thanks for bringing us along for the ride ( flight) 👍
Amazing! Thanks for also giving us the details on the plane, I'm Dutch and from near Arnhem, so cool that this shot down a german over there
I found my new “top gear”. Imagine Matt working with Jeremy, Hammond and May on like their new Grand Tour special… 🤯
Fuck yes thats what alot of people would love to see! Matt with Yianni vs the Grand tour in a special trough some foreign continent
even with chris harris and andrew flintoff it would be lit
what an impressive and iconic aircraft. brings a tear to your eye.

I've loved history a long time and WW2 and all the war machines can get dull, they get a lot of coverage, but Mat brought so many little facts and tidbits and just bushels of enthusiasm to this and I was super on board the whole time, well done!
Awesome ! I lived at Biggin Hill for 21 years before moving to Malaysia with my work 16 years ago. Miss the airshows and the magical sound of Spitfires and the othee warbirds flying overhead. Your joy at experiencing this unique aircraft first hand is obvious from the start of the video. Experience if a lifetime 👍 Thank you so much for posting this video 🤘🇲🇾
I wonder if Mat could review some British Tanks for us.. would be pretty cool.
Something like a TOG 2?
Challenger 1 pls
nahhh centurion
Wow....that's all I can say at this point.....my man's gone from "CAR"wow to just....wow 😯
One of the best videos Mat has done! Please make more like this!
The JOY Matt had during this video is utterly infectious. Definitely my favourite Carwow video, purely because of Matt's delight!
I literally got tears in my eyes when he started to pilot the plane. What an experience that must be! I want one. Now! I'm form Poland and our Polish pilots fought in the battle of England and helped to win it so it's a double treat for me
A few years ago, I spoke to the son of a Polish fighter pilot. He said that the reason the Poles shot down more enemy aircraft was because they flew in much closer to the enemy than the British pilots dared!
@@charlies418 If you haven't watched Guy Martin's battle of Britain TV programme, than you really should. Its really interesting. They had to even aim slightly in front of the aircraft to predict where the plane would be in the short time it took the bullets to get there. Also, the bullets had to fire from the wings at perfect timing to ensure that the recoil on each wing was equal, otherwise the plane would've 360'd out of the air!
We will always be grateful to the polish pilots
czcams.com/video/r-TCke-q1fk/video.html
Yes, every credit to the Polish in WW2, great allies then and now
That was amazing, smiled the whole video, Mat definitely deserves this treat as the time he must spend to spit new videos out almost everyday is amazing, loved this and has to be one of the coolest and most consistent CZcams channels going, thank to the whole carwow team. 👌
Best review you’ve done Matt. I was smiling all the way through your flight as I could see how happy and apprehensive you were all at the same time. What a aeroplane and what an experience 👍👌😊
I' ve been blessed watching the Spitfire flying nearby a F16 Block52+ in Thessaloniki, paying tribute for the greek resistance of the 28th of october,1940, against the German Nazi army and the Italian fascism.
What a historic sound that was!
Thanks Carwow for this great video
🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
I like how he just reviews it like just any other vehicle he would review
I was lucky enough to go up in the Grace 2 seater spitfire around 10 years ago & it was awesome. I also had a go on the controls, it was so nice to fly. Amazing day out that I will never forget.
My father used to work on the Spitfire (and other RAF aircraft through the Cold War years). He would have loved this video.Thank you for sharing.
I love Planewow!!! Well done Matt, an amazing review. Was not expecting this at all!!
Wow!
As an aircraft engineer I'm really impressed Mat!!!
Keep up the good work
That was awesome! Unexpected yet brilliant. Mat’s enthusiasm is infectious
Great video. I’m so envious as my father was a Spitfire pilot and one of the Spitfires he flew is still flying today.
It's incredible that a channel with the quality and quantity of content carwow creates can still surprise us!
Amazing review I really hope to see more historically significant vehicles on the channel now!

This is hands down my favourite carwow video ever! I’ve loved planes since I was 3 and this video is literally the best thing ever!
That is so cool, so jealous. I used to live a few miles from Biggin Hill & would always marvel at the planes they had on a plinth outside the main gates👍🏽
Incredible video - and actually I'm most impressed by the video quality. Do you mind me asking what camera / lens you use for the main shots of Matt has he walks around? (looks almost IMAX-y)
I agree with you! Theres a lot more work gone into grade and online on this video.. audio still a bit ropey tho!

Your face when you took control was priceless Matt, the concentration ! What a wonderful privilege to fly in such an iconic plane.
Natural beauty engineering. My grandfather was engineer of this amazing plane. Think this is going to be my wish list to fly 👍
Hi Matt. Fantastic video and for once I can totally relate to your experience. Did this myself in April2022 as my retirement present from my wife. Best thing I have ever done. Cheers!

Wow, great Video! Awesome cinematic shots, cool informations, und a super happy Mat. Great work!
This is by far the best video you made. I had a smile on my face the whole time. Loved also the respect you had by talking about this marvelous machine..
Thanks Matt, though I was born in the US as a kid I went through that phase of being interested in military ships and planes. The Spitfire was far and away the plane I loved the most, such a beautiful design.
The amount of the hard work that Matt has done is incredible!!! ❤️
Agree. He did well to fly straight and level, and perform gentle banked turns, in an aircraft that is not easy to fly. Be great to have a follow up of vision and sound that did not make it to this video, esp to capture the sound of the Merlin on start and hopefully an obligatory CarWow sound check (there is a limiter!).
The absolute pure joy and ecstasy Matt was going through was emotional to watch. What an incredible feat of engineering and what an experience to have.
I love that you guys have done your research!
15.12, that words were from his heart. He's so happy and also left the same feeling to us. Thanks carwow to give us such an extraordinary gift. Luv u Matt 💖
I loved this so much! Thanks for letting us fly one vicariously through you, Matt. I had a grin on my face the entire flight. And yes, more reviews like this, pls!
This is it. I have to travel to the UK at least once in my life to go to the Bovington tank museum and fly an actual Spitfire! Or the P51 they just got (don't know if you can fly in it). Just gotta hope they are still flying in 5-10 years, by then I may be able to go
This is a bloody phenomenal video!! The patriotic, passionate, in-depth break down of the form & function of this magnificent, iconic British machine coupled with epic, energetic flight footage is just sensational to watch. Well done! Enjoyed this greatly!
Nice one Matt, I can only imagine the sheer joy you must have felt during your flight in the Spitfire. The excited giggles only tell me you had a regression back to a childlike state, you lucky, lucky man. Keep the vids coming, you entertain me no end.
Never smiled so much throughout a carwow video than I did this one😂💙
Fun fact the spitfire isnt the oldest car mat reviewed and test 0-60. It was the first 3 wheel mercedes wagon in the special episode of all unique mercedes cars

Good for you mate!
So happy for you living the dream Matt, well done man.
Despite my dad having been in the air force, I never really learned much about airplanes. Even so, I always thought they were cool. This is a really fun review, and as a car nut I can appreciate even more the engineering that went into this thing! Nice.
I regularly hear a Spitfire (not sure if it’s this particular one) doing lazy low dipping turns over Box Hill nearby, and I can occasionally catch sight of it through the trees. As it turns in to the dive, the glorious “bwwoaaow” noise echos around the valley.
Awesome review and even cooler they took it up in the air, cheers from 🇨🇦
That was an awesome video. Sometimes words aren't able to describe how incredible an experience is; this appears to be the case with Matt in this one.
It’s funny that you mentioned the camera, because one of the reasons the Germans never got a foothold on the British Campaign was that their pilots would exaggerate how many enemies they had downed. This was important because the Germans became overly confident in their numbers thinking the British would soon be running out of aircraft and pilots. But they were sorely mistaken as we now know. The Spitfire and the British fighting spirit are both legendary.
What an utterly fantastic and unexpected video. Mat’s enthusiasm and admiration really showed through. Brilliant 👍🏻
You're living the dream!! I'm so happy for you Matt!! You gotta do more airplane reviews!!
I had a big smile on my face all the way through that flight! Congratulations 👏🏻 love this!
