I needed to bend a tube, and I didn’t want to buy a tube bender. I had scrap plywood, left over hardware from other projects, and just wanted to see if it would work.
Brilliant work, dude! Well done!!! 😃 A few years back I drew a few bicycles... I ended up paying someone to build one of them, but I always wanted to do it myself some day. So... Who knows, maybe I end up making one of those! 😂 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Great project and video! It looks like it worked perfectly, but one way you could get a tighter tolerance on the groove in the wheel might be to get the basic shape with your gouges - then wrap a piece of sandpaper around the tube you intend to bend and use that as your tool. The groove would perfectly match the radius of your pipe (plus the thickness of the sandpaper).
I think if I replaced the arm with steel, the plywood rollers would still work well enough for aluminum and at bigger pipe diameters, at least for a large enough radius. But until I need that, this shop built tool is good enough.
this design is brilliant! thank you for posting this!

I actually did do that a bit, it just didn’t make the cut.
@@catspawcustoms Nice. Keep up the good work!
Cool! Make the stuff you have, work. Thumbs up and thanks for posting.
Thanks!
Noice! Now I am wondering about upgrading the build to aluminum and bending tubes for bike frames....🤠🔥⚒🚲

that was brilliant
Thanks!
Excellent video!
You need to put more stuff out there! The guys love it when their expediter is watching woodworking videos on the truck lol
@@2amshenanigans I have been, did you watch the KC-10 boom video? That was probably my best. It’s long, but good.
Thanks!
@@catspawcustoms I haven't yet but I am going to now
I have to bend some 3/4" EMT. so do you think baltic birch is strong enough for that?
Maybe, only way to find out is to try.
What size berrings ?
@@jameslangford4748 whatever size fits your hardware.
Thank you
Do you sell these?
Sorry, no
Do you think it would work for 1 1/4" tubing ?
@@jameslangford4748 maybe if the metal is soft or thin enough.
@@catspawcustoms Thank you.
