- Chris & the fellas’ excitement is at an all-time high after seeing the caliber of deer within their unit!
Battling single degree temperatures, the team starts the day glassing where they saw a big buck the day before. After turning up mature bucks that are on private, they debate if they should play the public/private boundary game or not.
On day four, the team splits up to cover more country. Trail and Sladen turn up a big buck at first light, and Chris, Lorenzo, and Scott hightail over to get eyes on him. The hunt is now inches closer to notching their tag, but it proves easier said than done as the buck is bedded in thick oak waiting to get the perfect shot.

It’s refreshing to see hunting films depicting the way the vast majority of people hunt . The whole “I’m 19 miles from the truck “ is so over played
How do you feel about them exploiting a public resource for their own personal, financial gain? Promoting using something that doesn’t belong to them (public land) simply to sell an app.
If you’d ever met anyone from GoHunt you’d realize they’re super passionate about hunting and would be doing it regardless of their job title or cameras being there. They’re hunting public land just like everyone else and documenting it. They have just as much of a right to hunt it as any other citizen of the US. They pay the fees, apply for the tags, get drawn, and shoot a deer. Butcher it and feed themselves and their family and friends. And film it in a documentary style. If anything, they’re promoting the ethical way to take wild game and showing new hunters and young hunters the right way.

@@SG-ig2thI would argue public land does belong to them. It belongs to everybody. And while they are exploiting it they are not harming it in any way

There is no doubt I had a lot of help.
Wasn’t guided at all. If you’ve listened to the podcast you’ll find out that porter is a beast of a hunt planner and E scouter. Dude is crazy good at figuring out where to hunt. Yes he does have a lot of help but he’s putting in all the leg work of figuring out where to hunt which is the complete opposite of hiring a guide lol. I myself am a lot like porter except I don’t really care that much what kinda underwear I’m wearing 😂😂

Good friends, good camp, great hunting!
No doubt a challenging hunt & an impressive accomplishment, but these long range shots aren't that interesting to me. I feel getting inside a bucks "cone of awareness" is the ultimate test of my hunting abilities. Might make getting a buck like that in country like that next to impossible. Hunting blacktails gives me a close-range bias I suppose, you can't get a 500 yard shot on one if you tried! If I lived out where you guys are, probably wouldn't think twice about long range shooting.
These late seasons hunts for mule deer out west are like this. The challenge is in finding them, not really the shot, however, that "cone of awareness" is very real and some of these bucks just bolt even from a ridge-line or two away if they spot you and don't stop! In my limited experience (4 muley bucks and counting) you can't let opportunities on your chosen bucks linger long!
