Both versions are great and there are some things the spanish version does, and scenes I wish were in the english version, both casts giving different but very good performances, but the biggest deciding factor for which is better comes down to Dracula himself Carlos Villarías simply can't hold a candle to Lugosi. lacks that foreign feel and doesn't feel out of place among the other characters. (outside of some of the hammy acting) Feels like he would be better suited for a spanish version of something like The Wolfman (which obviously they never did) or doctor jekyll and mr hyde
Nunca he entendido porqué se considera a la versión española superior a la original. Es innecesariamente larga, mucho más aburrida y lo peor de todo... Carlos Villar/Villarías dá mas risa que otra cosa interpretando al conde, especialmente comparado con el eterno y grandioso Bela Lugosi. Soy español y tan sólo he visto la versión hispana/mejicana una vez en mi vida. Nunca más. Dáme Lugosi y Browning every single time!
