when the first i listen to the specials a year ago, watchin the official video of this song, Terry, i can see your sadness, your eyes..and i read his life, man you had the tough life. i relate to you because i was abused too thats my all time pain, now, you at peace man! 😭

Yep, I sure have. And for once, Pandora and Spotify have really helped me to learn some older ska artists--even a Manhattan jazz orchestra playing a Ska or reggae version of Take Five--and some marginally talented new groups--Gentleman's Dub Club. I'm steeped in the Ska now.

the specials were my first taste of ska after listening to rancid, along with some other ska punk bands. these guys are just unbelievable. skinhead symphony live can literally bring tears to my eyes. so terribly sad to have heard of Terry's death.

Very sad to hear of Terry Hall passing. Specially because that band was so joyous while still treating serious social issues. A fantastic band.

I always loved them. Have you heard Fun Boy Three? You might also like his other projects "Vegas" and "The Colourfield". Vegas is Hall and David A Stewart. Great stuff too.

Worth to note is that The Prodigy, the huge fans of The Specials did the cover of this song, it's quite rare, as it only appeared on the Charity compilation, but it's worth to listen
That compilation was released on digital platforms sometime last year

Man, they sounded like they hadn’t played together in a long time. Amazing amazing song. Terribly uneven performance.
It's the sound balance. The flute guy was barely in the mix, as was the backing vocals, and the drums had too much top-end. If they'd recorded on individual instrument tracks and mixed the audio afterwards, it would sound 300% better. Terry was a little flat in spots though, but hitting the highs becomes harder with age.

This song is always gonna be a good track but this performance is terrible.

I was there, the soundboard doesn't sound as if it's mixed well (the levels are absolutely all over the place, especially Terry's mic, 00:52 the guitarists mic is up nearly higher than his 🤷). When you're standing in the main cage a few feet away they sounded amazing, especially when he threw the main line at 1:27. Unfortunately a remaster of the levels need to be done here as the sound engineer has done a bad job.

To be fair many many visitors are high and drunk so i guess the vocals do not matter^^
