Valentina just wanted to thank you because this video is a perfect example how we can utilize you tube to learn something from professionals. This is a university or college interior design material and you have provided it to us in a nice, cozy and relaxed way. Maybe I'm not expressing myself correctly, but my bottom line is I have just learned something that I see as a "professional level" of interior design, so thank you and please keep teaching us the same way!

FINALLY!! Yes!! We need “like minded” people to bounce our creative ideas off of! I get SO excited about moving things around and creating in my head but then I second guess myself because there’s no one to talk to about it. Thank you V for bringing us into your world and bringing us into the “light”.

One thing that really opened my eyes to simplicity and design of living space was when we stayed in a penthouse in Accupulco, Mexico yrs. ago. I relaxed and enjoyed it. I sketched how the built-ins were and took photos. Our home was never the same. Travel is very instructive.

No ideas come to mind. Love when you show how something is placed since it NEVER OCCURS TO ME. Your videos are just lovely. BTW, please do videos on what we do when we dont’ have lots of natural light.

Hey Valentina. You so speak to me and my style. Only problem is I do live in a place that has those grass mowers (cows). So I still have be practical. I am in the process of painting and adding texture with shiplap and mouldings on the walls. I will be painting my walls white and my family is freaked out. Except my husband bless his heart he said as long as I don’t paint his shop or tractors I can paint any colour I want.❤️. I am keeping my oak cabinets for a bit yet cause I don’t hate them. But..... I am going to add interest by painting parts of the cabinets black. I noticed in your videos that the inside of your front door isn’t painted black. That surprised me.

Concerning natural light, I notice when I see photographs of rooms that appeal to me, they are always bright and have tons of natural light. • @bitrudder3792
      @bitrudder3792 Před 4 lety +2

Low ceilings are super common in places like England where people are tarting up ancient homes and apartments and embracing the coziness of the low ceilings. You might find some inspiration in some of the shows of designers working in those spaces! Another idea is to look at modest mid-century modern styles and Frank Lloyd Wright. I grew up in a MSM home and my parents used a lot of horizontal lines (long, wall-mounted tambour-door medium walnut cabinets and open shelving to both store china and to visually connect the dining area and the living area, and low leather Danish armchairs on casters, for example. Early in marriage, on an extreme budget and furniture styles that would NEVER go together, and rooms too small AND too low to follow that advice, and very little natural light, I used art, editing and inexpensive fabrics to drape windows, add seat cushions to "cross pollinate" colors around the house and surprisingly got lots of compliments despite these challenges. We didn't even have room for plants, much less enough sun for them.

You often describe the elements and even the principles of interior design without knowing they are an element or a principle. You are a natural. You should talk about the principles or elements on your videos, you would be great at it. For instance, the principle of repetition, and too much repetition creates monotony (as do too many pairs of things). Go for it!

I have a question that I'm hoping you can answer in a future video: I love the traditional/"Victorian Mansion" architecture and style, but also the farmhouse one. How do I incorporate elements of both in a balanced, classy and cohesive way (especially when I live in a small house built according to the 70s fashion)?

You hit the nail on the head, talking about ideas, finds, etc....with someone other than your husband is fun and refreshing. So here's one of my dilemas, my new living room is long and narrow and goes right into the dining room and out to the balcony. Regarding lighting does the light fixture above the living area and the dining area have to be the same, since they are in line visually?

I think the 'bones' of your house can dictate what style of furniture and decor you choose. Eg my home is 'French manor' so I opt for more traditional looking pieces and I do agree with 'light' playing a major role in how a room looks. Light changes with the seasons and so changes the look and feel of a room. Anyway I really enjoyed this and I love your channel. Love from Australia. xxx

One of the reasons for that is they have the money for those one or two expensive wow pieces. That's all you need.

I enjoyed this video- thanks! I'm a minimalist and am lucky enough to have lots of light. What's your view on mixing neutral tones? Creating a warm toned bedroom but in love with a grey slipper chair with gold accents. How do you get balance right? More in this series please!

Cool video! I love play with things moving around our apartment. We have a lot of Art , because i paint and we buy originals from other artists. This is difficult for me to styling , because all are strong and we love them for different reasons. Plants are an ingredient that i did'n consider! Thanks!!!

I love the room at 2:26 with the dotted/animal print chairs. Can you tell me where to get the chairs or the fabric?
    Thank you! Love your aesthetic

I like the style to your videos as well. Note the map with straight black lines, your white sweater with black dots, grey eyes, wall, natural plant and necklace....very well planned out!😁

Excited to come across your channel-) Great content without extra fluff! I'm great at working with scale and proportion in a room but when it comes to my apartment, I draw a blank and I can't get the focus back. I'm looking for a side table and can't find the right style and size for the space

I am a recent subscriber to your channel. I love your ideas! Presently feeling a little overwhelmed by the idea of decluttering my home. As I look around my home, I have a lot of pieces that I have not really had a lot invested in it. So it makes me almost feel like I do not really care about it. Well I would like to change that thinking. I can't really for see myself going out to buy new furniture. Not really sure where to start. I need some lighter colors maybe I could start with an area rug. Another thing I struggle with is I am practical. I had a few children but already at the stage where I have 2 teenage girls left so no need to be soo worried about dirty or filth.

Thank you. Your videos are so helpful and interesting and useful and fun! We just bought our first home here in NC. It’s a very different house than we’ve ever live in and I’m struggling with getting it set up. We live in a very forested neighborhood where the light is very low. (Blessing and curse😆) We painted the whole interior a warm white to help that, and it has but still dim. It’s 50+ years old. You mentioned in another video to find a focal point to start decorating and arranging things. I can’t seem to find one in my living/dining room combo. We have a wall of sliding doors and the room seems to face the beautiful tree line view. Do I make that the focal point? And if so, how do I do that from inside? Thanks for any tips you can share. Take care!

I want to makeover the Master Bedroom but I should coordinate it with the master BR (which has white and blue marble in the shower). I’m thinking a terra-cotta accent wall or do I paint all of the walls? Also thinking the black too. What is your favorite shade of black wall color again? I remember you mentioning it in a video and I should have written it down. Thanks!!!
