Had the flashing red light and thought the battery had overheated as the light is above the temperature symbol. Flashing led means fully charged, thanks.

Same here, on my Hitachi nailer.
A flashing temp indicator is probably not the best way to tell the user that it's ready to receive a battery...

Whats it mean when it charges to about 90% and then pops? My charger died on the first use and it got so hot, I thought it was going to catch fire.

You could try opening up the case and getting the model number off the cells and possibly get new cells of the amazons.
I have the triple impact driver and basically like it. However the battery runs down much more quickly than my Milw m12 tool(s).
