    Quick clarification, for Sleepy Hollow, it's sold in 5 oz. bags, at least it was when I got off the phone with them 10 minutes ago after finishing this video. :D

    I would love to see a cowboy coffee review. Great suggestions for beginners. All 3 are very good. Tip for newbs: Break in those blends with a dedicated pipe and you'll notice the blend change and really shine.

    Thanks again for a solid video, Wilson!
    If I can add one thing regarding Straus Sleepy Hallow - it’s a very moist blend. So if you’re a beginner (like me) and don’t want to suffer tongue bite, you might want to spread it out on a paper towel or something similar and let it dry out for a while (30-60 min) before packing your pipe.

    EMP was my first "serious" pipe blend, and it hit so good. So tangy and smokey. That said, I never found it to be mellow. It seems to get pretty harsh after a while. I've heard other reviewers say the same.

      EMP was my first English blend as well. Very enjoyable. I actually put some into a mason jar and forgot about it for almost a year. SUPER smooth and a pleasure to smoke.

    If they miss out on the Sleepy Hollow, it’s hard to beat 1-Q as an affordable, readily available first aromatic. Lights and burns easily and I’ve never had it bite.

    Great review as always. The country squire is my go-to shop (online) and I often mention their blends on my channel. I just reviewed Cobblestone Black Coffee blend recently and will have to pick up Cowboy Coffee for a comparison review.
    Be well,

    Outstanding list for the beginner. I love that you advise beginners not to use aromatics as the starting point or more expensive complex blends. Good straight forward tobaccos. A great introduction and while I have not had the first 2, I am going to try them in my rotation.

      @@EJGentlemanI'm coming from a once in awhile backwoods bourbon cigar with an old fashioned and a steak. I wanted to try pipe because my grandfather smoked pipes and it brings back memories. Anyway, I tried a couple tobaccos: one was bourbon borkum riff and the other was spc plum pudding: Christmas spirit(special reserve plug cut apple brandy barrel aged). The borkum riff was not good 😢. The Christmas spirit wasn't bad but it left a bit to be desired and just was VERY different than what I'm used to. I'll continue to come back to the Christmas spirit because I did like it and there is so much there to unravel(only smoked a full bowl of it twice 😅).
      I'm going to try a bit of these ones that he recommended and some of the others that I've heard of that people recommend for new pipe smokers.
      I'm also going to mess around with making my own pipe and flavoring the mouthpiece somehow because that's something the cigars that I like have. Maybe even dipping it in some honey whiskey or soaking it or something ha ha.
      Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

    Thank you . I am a fairly new pipe aficionado. I enjoy the peaceful time I spend with my pipe.. it allows me to inflect, and contemplate. Sadly, I am in an area where pipe tobacco is almost impossible to obtain without some difficulty... Dublin Ireland. I will be travelling to Germany for the Christmas season, so hopefully I can find some of your suggestions there.... is there a tobacco available in Germany that you might know of that you could recommend? I am partial to aromatics, but am open to try all others. Thanks again. GBY

    • @strollandabowl
      @strollandabowl Před 7 měsíci +1

      Germany has some great tobacco shops. Make sure you research before going. Where are you going? HU, MacBaren, Kohlhase there are loads there. However a bit closer to you is a tobacconist is Belfast called Miss Morans. They are very good. They stock many brands including Gawith Hoggarth and Germains. I personally recommend those brands. If you know anyone up north they could order for you from the UK sites.

    • @flatsteve2776
      @flatsteve2776 Před 7 měsíci

      Thank you. I have heard of Miss Morans, however the prices there are quite steep, and with the travel from Dublin, it would make more sense to purchase tobacco from Germany.. at a quarter of the price.. Our trip to Berlin should be rewarding. Thanks again. GBY 🙏

      An easy option that can help is a little bees wax, a very little goes a long way so start light and work your way up to the right amount.

    Bro out here recommending a blend that beginners have to buy a 5oz bag of that will cost them a minimum $35 to buy and have shipped, then rolls right into a country squire blend that for 2oz shipped to your door is going to cost them a minimum of $20 .... for $55+ you could have recommended they try a bunch of bulk blends from Lane, Sutliff, C&D and whatever else... but instead you like "nahh dawg, go straight for the Tobacconist blends where you have to pay $10 to ship 2oz... but hey it's really affordable".... I think you spend a little too much time in the so called "good book" and not enough in the common sense book...... I pity the beginner who took your advice and spent over 50 bucks on two blends and probably didn't end up even liking them... what a way to get people interested Wilson, hit them right in the wallet right off the bat...

      It’s funny, that if you look in the past, there are plenty of videos where Wilson recommends those particular blends you mentioned…….I’m sure that he’s focused on flavor/aroma for a beginner, more than cost.
      Insulting God’s word/Wilson doesn’t seem like a very positive use of your time to me. But who am I, but a stupid keyboard warrior just like you? Do what you want

    • @WrongThink_
      @WrongThink_ Před 2 měsíci

      @@aaronmutch1883 He literally says in the video, one of the "variables" for these blends is cost...You either have a comprehension issue or a hearing issue, which is it ?...Just because you don't understand the points I made doesn't make me stupid.. it's make you stupid....
