This is one of the most amazing pens I’ve seen. Very impressive.
That really is a pretty pen! And you're right: they also need to feel good.
I recently bought a similarly sized/shaped MrCypress model made of micarta. I pulled the trigger because it was a great deal and because micarta interests me, but I wasn't sure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised. The micarta is wonderful and the fit and finish is flawless. The 14k nib is, I admit, not great. Very attractive, but it's an M that writes and F and is dry and a bit skritchy. That normally would really irritate me, but i don't mind putting in some work on the nib this time because everything else about the pen is so nice. Incidentally, I wonder if their Cypress branded nibs are in-house, or at least Taiwanese made. On their website they sell Bock, Jowo, and Cypress nibs, and the Cypress ones run significantly cheaper than the Bock and Jowo for the same material (they also have some custom engraved nibs that look ... *chef's kiss*). I got a deal on this pen, but even at regular retail (mine runs about the same as yours) I think it's a comparative bargain considering what you get from other brands for the same $. Also--I swear I'll shut up after this--this pen made me realize how much I appreciate good threads. Those spring seals are great for, you know, the sealing aspect, but I think I like them just as much for how they add some tension to the threading. Torque down a Pelikan cap and count to two and it will be loose again. Anyways, congrats on a great pen, and thanks for the great content (as usual).
I did not have nib choices like you. Only steel, 14k or 18k, not brand. Amazed your nib is dry & scratchy as mine is wet & has lots of feedback. In the end great pens, good prices, amazing models. Underrated.
Wow, Chris! The pen from Mr. Cypress is packed like a treasure, and a treasure it seems to be. All the details, like your name engraved, the change in the depth of the threading, all the goodies include, and the material is absolutely psychedelic. Thanks for showing us what a man of your taste and discernment does with a chunk of change.
I love it!
Thank you very much for your love and affirmation. This is our greatest encouragement.
No matter how busy life is, the joy brought by a good pen should not be ignored.
Easy to fall in love with that pen, its gorgeous.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this pen with us. I absolutely love it. I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I’m going to consider putting that on the list.
Mr. Cypress is local to me. I've been to their showroom and brought a friend. The staff brought out pen case after pen case from their storage room to let us check out their pen models. I bought one of their pens at the Tainan Pen Show and a kawari-nuri pen at their showroom. They also accept custom orders, e.g. if you have a design in mind and provide images/photos they'll create your pen for you. The material for the pen in your review is out of stock at the moment, but they also take pre-orders and notify customers when it's back in stock. Highly recommended. Thanks for showing a small Taiwanese brand some love.
WOW, amazing, to see all these pens. My pleasure to show mine. Thanks for watching.
@@chrisrap52 If you have a chance to come to Taiwan, the Tainan Pen Show is a great way to see a lot of pen folks in a room. Last year, Nagahara-sensei was there for both days to grind nibs at a table. And Mr. Pilot (a retired former employee of Pilot with decades of experience) brought some pens. like the Pilot 743 Verdigris and a couple of really affordable colored demonstrator Pilot Preras LE that you usually can only buy at a particular pen shop in Japan. FWI (Fine Writing International) was there too. Their Scepter pen is a pump filler with a #6 Jowo nib.
WOW, great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!
I’ve always been very attracted to green fountain pens, generally. And this pen looks extremely attractive and something I’d happily buy - with a 18k Bock nib, if available. I almost wish it was a piston-filler, too.
What a unique, absolutely gorgeous pen! A beautiful tool that will continue to please you and lift your spirit every time you use it. Thank you for sharing it.
I enjoy my pens and enjoy sharing. Thanks for watching.
That material is mesmerizing! So much depth, too! Enjoy!
It really is and I will.
Wow! This is just my kind of pen! Cool video.
Glad you like it!
Wow.....never seen a pen resin like that....🧡💯
that's a beauty, thanks for the show.
Thanks for watching! It was fun for me.
wow, I totally understand why you wanted this pen! Looks amazing and thanks for sharing it's beauty with us.
My pleasure!
Wow, that is a very good looking pen. The resin is very cool.
It really is!
Hi Chris! Thank you for sharing in this nice review a fountain pen that I really like too. I didn't know this model.
Glad it was helpful! I had to share.
What a gorgeous pen! I believe it shares the same material that is used for the Pelikan Soüveran barrels. I am sure others do too.
Yes it is pricey, but it seems worthwhile the money.
Wow, Chris this is so stunning.
Not the same as Pelikan which uses a rolled sheet. This is a solid rod that is turned.
@@chrisrap52I had the pen in the shopping cart. Would you believe I was $20 short (shipping cost). Have to save my Shekels 😢
Gorgeous! Magnificent! Joy to you as you write, Chris!
😍
Beautiful finish, congrats!
Beautiful pen(s)! Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like them!
Wow, that is a beauty. A little outside my price range or I'd order it right now. Enjoy using it!
Steel nib cost less. Save up, worth it.
Love At First Sight, indeed! What a beauty. Thank you for sharing your joy with this lovely pen.
My pleasure!
They're local to me. I have one of their pens in acrylic with a red koi finish. At the time I went to their showroom, where they pulled out every type of pen I might be interested in from their stockroom, and they gave me a choice of Bock or Jowo nibs when I was ready. Still haven't inked that one up, but I have a few of their pens on my wishlist, e.g. their kawari nuri, micarta, Ebonite, and possibly some mixed materials. I still want to ask if they can add urushi to some of my more boring black and gold pens.
WOW. I can't imagine. Enjoy it all.
@@chrisrap52 If you ever have the opportunity to visit Taiwan, maybe we could meet up?
Absolutely.
@@chrisrap52 There are a bunch of very nice pen shops in the Greater Taipei Metro area, plus a very nice small one in Tainan (and one that carries PenBBS inks) AND Mr. Cypress in Kaohsiung. I also know a guy who sells vintage pens in Taichung. Enticing?
That’s a stunning looking writing instrument, very different, hope you enjoy it Chris.
I am!
Very beautiful and unique in color and design. Congratulations Chris.
Thank you! Cheers!
@@chrisrap52 my pleasure.
Awesome
Congrats, Chris that pen looks like a fab comfy writer.

I have one from Little Pen Designs arriving tomorrow!
It really is!
Holy cow these pens are beautiful Chris. Enjoy that one!
I am!
@@chrisrap52 I am seriously thinking of getting one soon. I love most of their finishes. Thanks for the heads up!
A very distinctive pen! The colour reminds me of chocolate lime candy. Hope you get much enjoyment out of this well-made piece.
Wow! I can only dream...
In colors....
Thanks for a really interesting show. Seems I'll have to start saving---the only problem is having to choose one of those glorious materials. My guess is that the process of manufacture might be similar to glass blowing; perhaps you may find out for us. Best wishes from the Wombats.
Pen does look like glass & I've seen similar designs in glass. Didn't think of that before, thanks from New Jersey.
Beautiful pen. Clip seems influenced by Visconti. Thanks for video.
It does!
Hi sir..is it possible for you to review a pelikan m1000
I will not buy one, no interest. Too much for my budget.
What a lovely pen! Love celluloid pens! Very evocative of my favorite vintage parkers and shaeffers.
Is this pen a piston or c/c?
C/c.
I greatly appreciate the reply. Definitely puts the pen into catch 22 territory for me. Love the pen and it clearly has top-notch craftsmanship, but as a lover of broad nibs that apply ink like a firehose I'd be refilling it a lot given my writing volume.
I always appreciate your videos and thoughts.
A piston fill does not equate to more ink all the time. I'm OK with C/C, I like changing inks. I write at my desk, ink bottles always nearby.
Hi Chris, I just came across this pen and was wondering whether it’s CC or piston filled? Thanks
CC comes with a converter.
Hey Chris, this pen is showing as out of stock on the Cypress website and I don't see any options for being notified of a restock. Do you know if it's a limited edition model?
I assume it is limited. Only so many rods of this resin available. BUT there are many other great Cypress pens.
filling system ?
Schmidt Converter.
thank you
