This is a stunning body off frame restored wagon. Mercury didn't build a 2 door wagon, so a die hard Merc fan did! It's a 54 Ford with Mercury trim. This is the only one known to exist. This was a feature car on Hot Rod website.
EXTERIOR: Outstanding fit and finishes. The body is pristine. Laser straight, precise gaps, no rust or damage. The Mercury hood was installed. Mercury taillights were molded into the body. The tailgate has Mercury embossed right in it. The paint looks like a piece of candy. Gorgeous Burgundy metallic is polished to a glass finish. If you look hard you may find a few minor nicks. The wood grain was applied using an ink transfer procedure. It's trimmed out with Mercury trim. The stainless trim is polished and straightened. Every piece of chrome is restored. The glass was all replaced. All the weatherstrips and seals were replaced. Great lowered stance.
It rolls on 15 inch rims painted to match. Very rare poverty caps and white wall radial tires.
INTERIOR: Very meticulously restored. All the metal trim is painted smooth and glossy. 3 gauges are custom installed where the radio would have been. If you lift the speaker grill you will find a hidden stereo, it also has a remote. All the knobs, handles, speedometer, steering wheel look great. Interior lights work, it has cool Mercury lights in back. The seats and door panels are 2 tone upholstered real nice. New cushions in the seats. There are seat belts, cupholders and 12 volt receptacles in the back seat. Real nice carpet on the floor. Soft cloth headliner looks like new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It's a 292 V8 bored 60 over and equipped with a big cam, aluminum intake, Holley carb and Pertronix ignition. Dressed up with Mercury finned aluminum valve covers. Every component looks fresh. It has upgraded power brake system with dual reservoir. The engine bay is painted real slick. It has new hood insulation.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: 2 piece tailgate functions properly, the hinges and latches are restored. The rear compartment is carpeted and upholstered. It has a carpet cargo mat. Under the floor is a carpeted area with a painted rim, new tire and a jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: The body has been off the frame and underneath this car is beautiful. The floors are all metal painted gloss black. New body bushings. The frame and chassis components were also prepped and painted gloss black. The front end is completely rebuilt. All new ball joints, bushings, shocks and it has an upgraded sway bar. Steering components were replaced. In back it has new bushings and shocks. A great sounding custom dual exhaust with Smithys mufflers and turndown tips. The fuel system has been replaced including the tank and lines. Brake system is rebuilt and upgraded with disc in front. The hoses and lines were replaced, the e-brake assembly is hooked up. Looking up at the motor it is spotless. The manual 3-speed transmission has overdrive. It was restored, the linkage is new. The driveshaft is rebuilt. The rear end has been serviced, has 4.11 gears.
This is one of those cars that you didn't wake up thinking you needed. Once you see it you sure will want it! Colors and quality sold me. The uniqueness makes it that much better.
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do a walk around video that explains the car's condition in detail.
**These cars are displayed in a museum. If interested in a particular car make an appointment with a salesman to see that car. Without an appointment there is an admission fee to enter the showroom. If you buy a car, your admission will be refunded and you will be given a 1 year membership.

What a neat modification to make it into a "Mercury" 2-dr wagon. Really sharp!

Wow, what a beautiful car and there is a nice Y block under the hood and Y not? What I like about this car is that the modern up-grades don't detract from it's vintage look. Love the sound from that warmed over 292, must be really nice on the highway.

It is very unique and it appears to be VERY well done! Someone certainly went to a lot of trouble and I can’t begin to imagine the expense. Not my cup of gas but it’s an amazing transformation that anyone has to appreciate!

Add fender skirts on this 1954 Ford V-8, 2 door Ranch Wagon. Fender skirts is good for partially hide the rear wheels.

"Mercury never made a 2-door wagon"? Well, not in 1954. Not to be pedantic but from 1949 to '51 a 2-door wagon was the *only* offering from FoMoCo. Also, the 1957-1960 hardtop wagon, not shared with Ford, was available in a 2-door. Not to mention the original Comet wagon also came that way... (just sayin'..;)
This is a beautiful wagon, at any rate! Glad it's found a new home~
