If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

My 3 recommendations : 1. Atomic Habits by James Clear, which is great for fixing your daily routines 2. Fast Track to Fortune by Nathan West , which is 1 hour read that helped me understand what I want to work on and guided me towards 3.The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, as I noticed some problems with my money management. Read more, and you will know more; that's a real advantage over others.

The problem is that you don’t have any credibility. We don’t know if you are still living in your moms basement or if you are a multi billionaire. So your book recommendations has no value.

"Ancient wealth cipher" is the book that changed me, and helped me understand how the world works. It has some valuable wealth and life advices, and it taught me to be my best self. I highly recommend it!

How to Win Friends and Influence People literally changed my life and is an annual read for me.

I was fortunate enough to graduate the Dale Carnegie course many years ago. I still remember and practice what I learned every day.

It's criminal how underrated Jason Fladlien is.
I highly recommend watching any material he posts (videos, books...).

I was a supervisor at the great Walmart ..I asked my store manager what I needed to do to move up in the company....he said learn as much as you can and the next day he gave me his copy of how to win friends and influence people and said this book will help you immensely

As someone who’s read most of these books (or listened to them as Audiobooks) we seldom need the info inside them. What most of us need is initiative, focus, and severe intensity!
Yeah true. I read a couple of related books but ultimately my mind wasn't really ready for it. It took many years and multiple mindset shifts to really appreciate these books in regards to my situation

I love that he started with not one, but three books by Cialdini. Influence is more brilliant than you can even imagine. It will change your life.
Having a general knowledge but REALLY focusing in on a few things is the best way to go

One quick book is missing: " Fast Track to Fortune by Nathan West " It takes about 1.5 hours to finish, and it gave me an idea of what I want to read about more, so I would definitely recommend that one.
Think and Grow Rich is by far the greatest book for me! It speaks directly to my soul!
Does it give tips on how u can go rich or it teaches u methods too?

I listened to this list a few months ago and read how to win friends and influence people 10 times and it changed my life and then I thought just now “what should I read I’m bored” and remembered where I found that book and realized Alex dropped 12 more than it on my head🤩 I can’t wait for what I have in store to learn I’m about to buy and read all 12

@@malangbaba7553 yes it is (i was honestly skeptical at first). and in fact we as readers have to revisit it multiple times since it has a lot of similar. it's better if you get the physical book since it has the formulas - it's easier to read/learn

The Millionaire Fastlane is one of the best books i ve ever read. I feel like the author is talking to me. I wished i read it when i just finished high school.

Sales genius now his book is portrayed as one of the calibre of these other great books putting some titles that are not so greatly known so it’s not gimmicky, not saying his book isn’t valuable.Just saying his marketing is highkey genius.

Paper is better than reading online, it's like going to the gym instead of "being able to do it at home" it makes you accountable and allows you to focus on this one task without distraction

Anyone got a video on studying books? I’d like to know how some people like Alex study the books they find value in
Skim through most of them?? What the heck. I dont ever buy a book if im not going to read it, if youre burned out i get it but i suggest everyone whose an avid reader to read every book you can get your hands on that influences you or a career path you want. More power to you! And to those burned out take a week break then come back strong or 20 pages a day you can finish a book in 10 days with that method.
He's definitely not skimming from burnout, he's skimming because he is busy and many books of great value are caked with great fluff.
I mean no hostility though. I think your advice is sound for many circumstances.
