This is not female vs male. It's a 25 yr. old league vs a 70 yr. old league. You have to earn that growth, fanbase, popularity and pay, the WNBA wants it to be given to them. Imagine the NBA asking for the same as the MLB in 1970. That's 50 years difference of work that multiple generations of players to had to put in, to get the league to where it's at now. Who do they think they are that they don't have to pay the same dues?

@@xxslick66xx that's exactly what he said? These players in the league today in the NBA are reaping the rewards of the sacrifices of players made for the past 75 years. In the next 50 years if the product continues to improve the wnba will most definitely be one of the most popular women's sports. They probably won't be making the insane 300 million contracts but in the next 25-30 years I won't be surprised if a generational type player gets the 100+ million contracts

As I see it, the problem isn’t that the average WNBA player is underpaid. Compared to your average working American, they are not. The problem is that the average NBA player is obscenely overpaid, which is that they are, compared to your average working American. Now, you have many NBA players averaging 10 points and 5 rebounds a game who are commanding $10,000,000 a year to play 15-20 minutes a game. That’s obscene, and that’s flat out wrong.

The WNBA wouldn't even exist if not for the NBA subsidizing them. In almost 30 years of existence, the WNBA has not once made a profit in any season. The fact is, the economics determine that the women can't justify higher salaries. The same people complaining about the salaries not being higher probably never attended a WNBA game either. As it is, they hardly have to jump off the floor.
