This game and the first Modern Warfare were both my two first COD games and the two first FPS games I ever properly played. At the time when I was kid all I really played was racing games and the occasional fighting game so these were basically my gateway into more adult games at an age where I was waaay to young to be playing them. My best man at my wedding is a guy I met on bo1. We were friends for over a decade before finally meeting in person the day before my wedding. This game means a lot to me.
I always thought that Black Ops' ending was a red herring. The final mission ends with the "merica" spiel, but it feels so fake. It almost feels like Mason can see behind all the 'pride', due to the fact that he was brainwashed/mangled by his own people. You can see this ESPECIALLY with the ACTUAL ending (as i call) with Mason assumed to be the/a suspect in the death of JFK.
I love when games with fictional characters/stories added to Real life incidents. Black ops and World at War made me very obsessed with History Especially War History. Black ops is the best cod ever released.
I watched this just after replaying the game. While I disagree with some of your opinions on particular levels overall I don't think personal preference overshadows how much you nailed the stuff you got right. I think the fact that there are still enough people playing that you can get a lobby is a testament to how strong this game was. Not only was the campaign fantastic but Zombies and Multiplayer really innovated in ways that newer COD games refuse to. They really said to themselves: "Hey what if we did something we thought was cool and made the most badass 1960s experience possible?" Even the levels that you could claim were "derivative" like the mission in the Blackbird - similar to the AC-130 mission from COD4 - were unique and interesting in their own way. Also I haven't seen anyone mention the graphics that you did for the video but I think it's worth mentioning how cool they were and that they really added to the overall fun vibe of the video. Good job man, the view and like count on this video speak for themselves. Wish you great success!

Man, I've always loved this game and it was great getting to experience it again through this awesome video. I couldn't agree more about the excellent voice acting for Mason, as well as the entire cast. I remember first learning about this game and that it had Sam Worthington, Ed Harris, and Ice Cube all voicing major parts. I'm unsure of the actor's name who does Woods but he is incredible as well, obviously. The cerebral story was just so fucking cool and showed that CoD campaigns could be imaginative as hell with the right people working on them. Great video, what a blast!

@@callmemike__1 I've considered 100% videos before as well!. Script writing takes a decent amount of time. I usually write the title of video and create thumbnail, then work on script. While writing script, I do research. Then I record all gameplay, noting any necessary changes needed for script. Then editing. Depending on your level of editing.. this can take a long time. I had no idea how to edit when I started so it still takes me a while. The intro for this video took me a long time, due to adding my own song of choice and having to layer sound fx over it.. total hours on this project probably ... 50-60??.. that's a guess though..
I fuckin miss these days, i was around 10 or 11 at the time of this game coming out. I found out about black ops and cod in general through watching G4 clips that were on comcast’s old ass way of being able to watch G4 clips from the show of them playing BO1. The two clips were of the mission on summit with weaver and wood’s entrance when he gets off a helicopter. Mason shouts “you look like hammered shit” and woods just says “this is nam baby” instantly hooked my ass in. When I finally got the game, it was everything i had hoped it would be. The story was so fuckin cool at the time and still is to me. I was always obsessed with the history of war since a kid, vietnam was one of THOSE ones if that makes sense. The glamorized but still fucked up ones. Anyways, When the jungle mission came up it instantly became my favorite mission. Especially the part where you’re underwater and taking down enemies or when you’re sneaking with woods through a hut full of sleeping soldiers while slicing each one’s throats. This game was fuckin awesome man. I remember going to rivers and lakes with a ton of homies to have airsoft wars bc of this game, my friend group was also obsessed with this game. One homie was so dedicated to the airsoft wars he would be waist deep with gear on hiding and shit. Mf would dolphin dive into the river and stay laid down to shoot. It was great. When I figured out you could get out of the armchair in the main menu just blew my mind. It felt wrong but so cool idk how to explain it. Then pulling up to the fucking computer and typing in cheats was awesome too. Zombies was fuckin cool as well, i had this one homie from nepal that wanted to try the game(again we were around 10-11 years old) i threw on Five, he began to geek tf out and did not want to play cod anymore💀💀💀 The lore was also super cool to me, as a kid it was so fuckin cool watching youtubers figure shit out as it came out. At school we would all be tweaking tf out over the dlc’s and the 1 zombies map that was coming with it. DLC was also fuckin great at the time lmao The dlc that had me in a chokehold was either the one with moon or shangri-la. The theories for those two were good and bad, there was one where shangri-la is on mars, or how the entire internet figuring out the easter egg for moon. For a while ppl only got stuck at the beginning of following a floating silver ball or something like that. Black ops 1 is fuckin great man
In terms of innovation and gameplay? Imo, no. MW2 was superior and Black Ops arguably was a step back with less content with a copy paste format and arguably was more worthy of a DLC price tag. In terms of a written Campaign? Black Ops is one of the best FPS Campaigns ever written. So much so it might arguably justify it's release price. Imo it's a Top 5 Call of Duty Campaign. One or two things hold it back from being even higher but it's still so freaking good. Not to mention, Alex Mason is one of the most important FPS protagonists in gaming since he was the first CoD protagonist to actively speak as you play as them.
I was 7 years old when I played this game on 2010 and it was my first call of duty. I play this campaign once a year just to have a fun experience and now after I’m done with this video I’m gonna play it again and play zombies with the guys
To me this is the best call of duty black ops game in the black ops series. Only thing good about black ops 2 is the campaign I thought the multiplayer was horrible in black ops 2 and the maps where horrible
Playing b01 is amazing when drunk because you get to understand The campaing and understand then campaign and know the story because you are generally interested in the storyline and with that you love it and become interested

@@The_GameShorts thank you for that insight! I do appreciate it.
Love this video keep up the work
Thank you for the kind words!
Amazing video definitely earned a sub
Thank you man. I truly do appreciate it!
Forever my favorite Call Of Duty title.
I love the memes peppered throughout the video
Great videos man keep going
Appreciate it!
Great video!
Thank you!
Another excellent retrospective and nostalgia trip! Treyarch made 2 masterpieces with this game and BO2.
Black ops 2... Great game.. but... I've got some hot takes for sure. Loved the campaign though.
Such incredible story telling, even into Black Ops 2, BO3 was more into transhumanism and was more into cyberpunk and spiritualism
But like .. why tho ?
I was 12 when it came out, best campaign in the series. I was so enthralled I stayed up all night to beat it
This and halo reach was peak gaming for fps
Zombies was fuckin cool as well, i had this one homie from nepal that wanted to try the game(again we were around 10-11 years old) i threw on Five, he began to geek tf out and did not want to play cod anymore💀💀💀
The lore was also super cool to me, as a kid it was so fuckin cool watching youtubers figure shit out as it came out. At school we would all be tweaking tf out over the dlc’s and the 1 zombies map that was coming with it. DLC was also fuckin great at the time lmao
The dlc that had me in a chokehold was either the one with moon or shangri-la. The theories for those two were good and bad, there was one where shangri-la is on mars, or how the entire internet figuring out the easter egg for moon. For a while ppl only got stuck at the beginning of following a floating silver ball or something like that. Black ops 1 is fuckin great man
Hell yeah. The memories of when this game was Poppin like that are golden. I remember the first time playing call of the dead and I truly loved it
In terms of innovation and gameplay?
I agree with you about the campaign, one of the best
Happy to be number 800 sub.
Appreciate you man! 💯
that vorkuta take is a hot take my favorite mission in the game but was and still is hella iconic and memorable imo. many memorable moments and quotes
Lol you're not the only one who's telling me that. Guess I'm just wrong lol.
@@The_GameShortsnah you're not wrong at all bro.. it's an opinion... Say your thoughts 🤟🏻
amazing video!
Thank you!
That terminator transition was tough
Thank you for watching! I appreciate your support.
in my opinion vorkuta is the most iconic mission in any cod game
Probably goes no Russian then vorkutaw
Finally found a video I can eat my food to💀🙏🏾 great video bro🫡
Thank you man! I really appreciate it. Finding the right video to eat to is crucial.
I was 7 years old when I played this game on 2010 and it was my first call of duty. I play this campaign once a year just to have a fun experience and now after I’m done with this video I’m gonna play it again and play zombies with the guys
Awesome video
Thank you!
If you ever played the original resistance you should make a video on it since I feel like it's one of the most underrated franchises
I can sure do that, thanks for the feedback!
To me this is the best call of duty black ops game in the black ops series. Only thing good about black ops 2 is the campaign I thought the multiplayer was horrible in black ops 2 and the maps where horrible
I don't know if I go that far... But I do prefer bo1 to bo2
Playing b01 is amazing when drunk because you get to understand
The campaing and understand then campaign and know the story because you are generally interested in the storyline and with that you love it and become interested
Black Ops 1 ran so Black Ops 2 could sprint.
Lol I feel like one of a select few who prefers BO1 over BO2
Great video!!! I hope the next Treyarch CoD will be a banger like Black Ops. 🙏
Thanks man! Yes me too.
Great video bro. Just wanna ask what part of Cali are you from? I live 20 minutes away from the Edward’s AFB and they regularly do flight shows.
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I'm from Littlerock California. Near Palmdale and Lancaster.
@@The_GameShorts honestly cool. I’m from Mojave and often visit Lancaster. However I’ve never been to little rock. But I still think it’s dope to have a nice upcoming CZcamsr live around the same place. Especially mention it 👍.
@@yoboyant3973 thank man. I really appreciate it. And thank you for watching! What a small world. I need to go back and visit sometime
Man how does this not have more views????
Hahaha thank you man. I'm just starting out... So this a lot of views for me 😂... I'm just now gonna hit 1k subs so I'm happy with it! Thank you again for watching.
@@The_GameShorts this is great content man plenty of people would love to see it you’re doing so well for someone so new with the editing the narration all of it excellent content man keep it up and you’ll get wayyy bigger props dude I know this took a while one for mw2 would do great aswell you could also branch to other games with great storytelling like red dead one or two or the borderlands franchise it has a plethora of information
@@The_GameShortsjust saw your modern warfare two video will be watching it you’ve gained a loyal subscriber keep putting this content out!
@@O5FS I do have a video on the original MW2 if that's what you meant!. Thank you so much man for the kind words! I really appreciate you commenting and showing your support.. yes there is many games I look forward to covering! Any games in specific you'd like to see? My next video is in the works... But after that I can look into something else.
@@The_GameShorts just saw it and will be watching it aswell!
Goated video
Sounds like spiderman warned Hudsons team about the nova 6 on rebirth Island lol
So canonically speaking, Mason went to rebirth Island alone, and murdered dozens to get to Steiner. All of which were armed and trying to kill him. Is Mason doomguy?
Yeah... He was stomping some Christmas noobs
I remember not having the game yet but the demo had carried me through days without internet, then after playing zombies. You never got Mule Kick when playing offline but I never used that. Campaign is something that had a certain “jeneseque”, I don’t think we’ll ever get again. It took a leaf from WAW with the mix of real life clips. Theres too much to say that my basic English won’t be able to do justice.
Yeah. The campaign had a style to it that's for sure. Thank you for watching.
Only legends remember and play this game!
Who’s tried jumping into the helicopters’ blades at the part before you board the boat at 40:30
I haven't haha. But next time I will try
