What I’m limited to is a couple of catchphrases with bad pronunciation and the basics like hello goodbye thank you I’m sorry stuff like that.
Language is not a problem, I speak 0 japanese and I managed just fine. It's impossible to get lost if you have at least two functional brain cells, and if you go to a restaurant you just point at the things you want on the menu. If you happen to stay in a hotel in the middle of nowhere like I did, where they most likely won't speak nor understand a single word in english, just hand in the reservation and you'll be fine. If you want to be polite just learn the very basics, like "thank you", "I'm sorry", "good morning/afternoon/night" and that's it.
There are many Shops , and I guess the Cafe too, where they can speak english too.
My problem would be, I can't speak english very well and also not japanese lol

Sunshine city is the most convenient if you're staying at the connected hotel. You have access to various restaurants, bakeries, a grocery store inside the center and a nice 24 hour grocery store just across the street. In addition to the 24 hour convenience store inside the hotel lobby.
I hope that Pikachu cafe is still there once it's safe to travel again.

I'm slowly going back to Pokémon. I used to be able to do this really brilliant impression of Pikachu (I haven't done it for ages so dunno if I still can) and it used freak people out when they'd hear the adorable squeaky "Pika pikaa! Pikachu!!!" and turn around to see this rather tall, big boobed creepy goth girl as the source of the voice 🤣🤣😉
Last time I went there was when I was a lil kid, I'm so happy to see that it's become so big and popular, I still have my merch from there.
