Thank you so much to everyone who has been waiting on pins and needles for this map! It was such a delight to work on, and seeing how many people were inspired to "mamafy" their ocs or make mamafied versions of other warriors characters was so much fun!
My inspiration for this MAP and its aesthetic was self indulgence- I spent so much of my youth, and the time these edgy, sparkledog type designs were popular turning up my nose at them, insisting only realism was the right way to draw characters, even though I liked this kind of thing. I felt like it was cringy or embarrassing to like edgy, stripy, silly designs, and so I pretended not to. I know a lot of people did. But having fun, silly art, being a little weird and edgy and giving cats emo hair and neon blue markings and weird eye makeup doesn't hurt anyone- it's just fun. So, for Mama, I wanted everyone to indulge that, to go all out in making something the younger selves we denied would have loved, and will love today. I hope that you enjoy it as much as we all did.

the unrealistic looks make this such a unique map. though for a sec in some parts it was hard to tell who was who, but it is a very amazing map, because of how you styled them, great work everyone!

I’VE ALWAYS REALLY LOOOOOVED THE AESTHETIC FOR THIS MAP YO, I used to have some “edgy” sparkledog-esque characters myself when I was younger and oh gosh it’s so nice to see those things in the MAP designs; all the parts for this came out so dynamic and emotional and oh gosh I could go on about how well the script flows; awesome MAP everyone!
so i read the description and i honestly totally agree with you! of course younger me did draw edgy ocs because i was influenced by such art but as i grew older, i thought it was “dumb” in a way and tried to stray away from doing so, but seeing the map call and the character designs, i thought it was really cool! i feel this would be, or was to those who took up map parts, really enjoyable to take a break from the usual and just touch into something you would probably, of course, never really look at or do!
now i shall waltz off to mamafy my government assigned warrior after finding out people were doing that while waiting for this map to show off its full glory~!

When I first watched this I was very confused. I could tell who Leafpool, Lionblaze, and Jayfeather were, but it took a while for me to realize who Squirrelflight and Ashfur were. I couldn’t tell who Crowfeather was at first either. Your comment wasn’t what helped me, but I’m sure it will help others ;)
(This was Lila Russell’s comment. I am Peter’s daughter. My dad doesn’t read Warriors, and he actually at first hadn’t heard of the band My Chemical Romance, which is the band that made this song.)
As someone who grew up making oc’s such as “scourge rip-off 3000” and “the ‘angle’ of darkness,” I appreciate this map’s existence.

After watching this many times, at least a few hours worth of just looping it on CZcams, I have decided I really want to say something. The art and work people have done is beautiful. And there's something about it that just has my brain thinking about it so much. The more emo designs for the cats work so well, yet almost catch you off guard at first. And fits amazingly with the song. The colors are all beautiful, and it all works so well. I am absolutely amazed. Something about it has taken me back to when I first read these books. And I just can't get my mind off of it.
Overall I didn't even read the info section of the video, but even without that I totally got the same vibe. The kind of designs that you're told you need to step away from as a growing artist, how designing characters like that is wrong and you should never step foot in that area. It's refreshing to see talented artist go back to those kind of designs, but its not a back peddle in their skill, oh no, it's acceptance, and a desire to let them do what they want to do. With art critiques and constant bashing of people who draw like that.
Something about that really hits home. Just a reminder to throw away what other people think. Do what you want to do and let your talent show for itself. It's heartwarming in a sense. And it works perfectly. It knows what it is and it accepts it. I feel like this encourages me in the lines of art, to do what I want, no matter what other people think or say. Our art is for us. And I gotta say I love this, in a nostalgic sense and a way that helps promote me with the art I do now and the barriers I often reach.
Thank all of you and keep up the good work. You're all so talented and this was something I didn't know I needed. Peace out from this student struggling in art school after constant ridicule from teachers whose writing a way too long, personal comment who likes to watch a ton of warrior cat amvs when I'm overly depressed because I like to recognize the characters with the different designs!! Jayfeather's ear twitched lightly in his sleep, baring his fangs, letting them poke out from his top lip. His Mama watched him, a small bit worrisome of her sacred child. Suddenly, her son lifts his head, slowly opening his glazed eyes and looking straight into her eyes. He slowly opened his mouth to whisper, "Mama.. we all go to hell." His glazed eyes suddenly became lively, and sinister. He's teeth bared, his whiskers slicked back against his soft fur covered cheeks. The look of evil faded, and he slowly got up from his spot in the den, leaving without another word. Picking up his stick with him.

Also I love the characters you picked for this, you could have picked scourge- a character who already is a bit more "classically fitting" for an emo prompt but you chose them-
It actually STARTED with the characters!! I used to always write down any map ideas I had no matter how weird, just in my notes, and it was one day when I was listening to this song on repeat and actually thinking about the lyrics I was like man... Could really deal with the threes issues with their mom in this and then like I wrote a basic script but... It just wasn't really anything special until someone said my jayfeather design (who already had the emo hair) just needed stripes on his legs to be a hot topic emo and I suddenly was like omg... What IF... And then we rolled with it. It was such a fun thing to work on with all the nostalgic imagery!

Yeah, when I did a premiere a lot of people complained to. What's worse, many of them refused to watch the video because of it. As the result, it did extremely poorly, even though it was on a topic viewers picked themselves in a poll.
