RIP bob Holness 1928-2012 you will be sadly missed by millions of fans who tune in to watch blockbusters
+The brummie Rail ent... Blockbusters is one of my favourite Quizshows. I wrote to Bob about his favourite books (i think it was) when i was in school
Always love the title music and even better in stereo
R.I.P Bob who will be missed
This must be a 1992 edition, as there are a few subtle clues in the set design.
Bob Holness always gets my vote. He IS Blockbusters.
LOL you can just see the set of the show on the left of the intro
Due to the DVE used for the peel at the end of the intro not covering the entire screen, but it would have been within "domestic cutoff" when originally broadcast so hopefully not visible to anyone with a correctly setup TV at home
Challenge are currently showing the 1992 series, as shown by the copyright notice at the end of each show - also, if it had been from much earlier then the theme tune wouldn't have been in stereo as NICAM stereo wasn't properly launched until the early 1990s
R.I.P Bob Holness
You will be missed...
This show blockbusters is now back in its new version of the show and Dara O Briain is now the new host
The opening titles of Blockbusters was inspired by the movie Blade Runner.
Cool , i hope this does well on the channel :)
It’s definitely 1992 because bob holness was alive back then
Nearly dinner time... 😋
Blockbusters started in 1983.
I remember the days when they broadcast Blockbusters on ITV (made by the ITV Midlands franchise Central Television), the contestants were six formers and Bob asked the questions. Unfortunately Bob is sadly no longer with us and I really miss him being a quizmaster.
yeah Blockbusters ran for about 10 years before Home and Away came along and stole it's time slot at least ITV have gone back in a sense to having a tea time quiz show In th Chase. But Blockbusters was a fine show for it's time.
Luckily the new series of blockbuster is here this time with Dara O Briain the comedian Irish presenter as the new host
Oh the nostalgia. I remember watching this show as a kid. I loved answering the questions. Guess I really always have had a thirst for knowledge
