Albert Kim I ordered the speedybee" bluetooth UART" adapter and then I realized that I didn't need it and all I needed was the OTG cable I plan on using for the tinyhawk with galaxy s7 I should be getting the tinyhawk in a couple days, I don't have a laptop computer so I am excited for this app
I actually got to try it yesterday. I just received the OTG adapter and was able to try the app. I do like it and it seems to be quite complete. I only have a PC and have tablets and smartphone so it makes it much easier.
Oh, this will be super helpful for me, I also thought it was only compatible when using the SpeedyBee Bluetooth UART adapter, thanks for posting this. 🙂
That's what I thought originally and if that were the case, it's useless to me (and most others). Being able to connect via USB makes this app VERY useful!
This app works great OTG on my old Moto E 2nd gen...I love it. - You do have to be careful not to change settings inadvertently while scrolling the page, but that's normal for android touchscreens.
That phone looks like the galaxy s9 plus which I have and you should have gotten a otg plug in the box. That otg has the usb c port already on it. Happy Update: on the cheap tablet works again!!! I believe that the reason is that the cable seems to have a verse. I put it on the other way and worked again. THE SHORT CABLE, (THE ONE WITHE THE FEMALE USB) MUST GO AT THE FCB. SO, thank you very much to Albert and to the guys of this happy app. And happy flying to everyone!! Alleluja!😁
I have the mamba f722s stack, which has bluetooth boot in, so I can just connect straight from my phone via bluetooth. Everything seems to work flawlessly, with one exception. When I try to flash firmware to my FC, the Speedybee app seems to require a wired connection. Might be because, when you're flashing it, it can't run its bluetooth functions since it's not running.
Edward Ramirez I just threw it a box and never thought I'll use it again. I was also able to connect a flysky transmitter to my phone using it. I put my phone in a old set of VR goggles and was able use it with a simulator.This lil piece has opened up so many possibilities.
having a linux pc at the moment i'm going crazy with the drivers since i bought a drone rady to fly on which betaflight is already flashed i hope to be able to solve my configuration problems with this app thanks for this useful video
On Linux no need to mess with drivers if your build properly supports your hardware. If you can't see your FC then you've got a Linux install issue and to diagnose that would be way beyond the scope of this channel.

Intalled on Samsung phone. But do not see tge usb. Installed on a cheaper tablet. Work!! Tuned two micros. All okay. Wanted to fine tune one of the previous two, never worked again.!!.. Does not see the usb. Reinstalled the app. Nothing.
Saw this about a week ago but declined using it because of a permission it requests. . Why would this app want to know your current location? Nothing to do with the apps function, but it asks for your location. Using Betaflight CM instead.
Tried this with my Babyhawk R and somehow it messed up my modes. The min value in SpeedyBee for the channels was different than Betaflight, and while swiping through the modes, it was too easy to accidentally make changes. Could be user error. Went back to BF to restore my settings from backup.

Is the flight controller flashed with Betaflight 3.1 or higher? If it's an older version or you have Cleanflight flashed, that might be why it doesn't work.
If the current draw is too much from the phone, most phones will shut off power going out of the USB port. Also, you can't burn the FC from the USB port.

Be careful I had it switch my gyro and pid loop frequencys to crazy numbers!! Lol Oscillation City. Also Dynamic filter notchs, needs to be set in cli. (Play store has a bare bones CLI app called betaflight CLI👍) Then I would recheck! The latest update seems to have fixed that tho...I think? Lol
I have a note 8 like you but when I plug it in, it wont work. I got it to work once on my note 8 but it works without any issues on my cheap ($100) droid phone.
You might have a setup where something is connected to your flight controller and is drawing too many amps. The phone can power the flight controller but not anything else.

NEED A BETTER RELEASE (?) p.x. and you put let's say osd on, and the app put it on, and it's on but when yoiu reconnect with the app, the osd is marked off. Even if on the quad remain on. Weird. And those are to develop it better. No bad feelings here. Progress.
What is betaflight OSD? Complete noob here. All my stuff is in the mail right now so I've never messed with this. I've just been messing with $40 toy quads......
hmm something is not right haha. my betaflight version is 3.2.0 and my samsung a5 2017 does support OTG. andriod version is good aswell. but my phone does not seem to power up the flight controller? also tried it with the lipo plugged in
With a lot of stuff Android, there might be compatibility issues. It might support OTG but may not provide enough current to power up the FC. Or it could just be a bug...
Try powering down the phone and turning it back on. Sometimes the OTG function is disabled if your FC is sending power back to the phone. It shuts it off to protect the phone.
Thanks man. The one I use is called "Betaflight CM" and the dev says that changes to Butterflight via CLI page are totally fine.... Thats cool, but of course full compatibility would be wicked.
Be careful with this app... I made a few changes in the app and it totally made my quads not fly. Specifically, it switched my receiver from TAER to EATR for my spektrum receiver. Of course I am on BF 3.3 and did not see the 3.1 disclaimer...
The Speedybee bluetooth usb adapter works great with iphone. I cannot get cable to work with my iphone or ipad. Also having an issue connecting with a bluetooth LE module connected to uart on inav fc. seems to be an apple thing. android works fine
IMPORTANT ERRATA CORRIDGE: the cable for me must have the short part (of the 2 parts) plugged into the app device. I had said the other way. Anyway... Happy flying!!!
Someone should make a fully functional version of betaflight to run on your phone so that you never have to use a laptop. All pilots usually have their smartphone with them.
Thank you speedy bee. Make a single bluetooth to USB dongle so we only need one dongle for all quads and I'll buy one right away! Up to $20 :)

This is going to be so useful for pid tuning in the field especially for me because i dont have any pc thats wirking rn, and no laptop.
I actually got to try it yesterday. I just received the OTG adapter and was able to try the app. I do like it and it seems to be quite complete. I only have a PC and have tablets and smartphone so it makes it much easier.

Instead of clunky OTG cable I got a small USB-C (host side) to micro-USB cable and it works great, no need to connect multiple cables

The Note 8 comes with an adapter that takes a USB. I don't have an OTG cable so I use it and works perfectly.

Only question is, say your FC also powers you rx. Is the there going to be enough power from the phone to not burn out the FC?

You need a special OTG cable (see links in description) and you need a phone that supports that feature. Otherwise it won't work.

So this idea won't work for Apple, only Android?
It will work for Apple using Bluetooth only. Android users have the option of Bluetooth or OTG cable.
