    A fun 645 camera to own. I own one plus a Mamiya Press and a wonderful Fuji GS-645…
    In my old age - after growing up with Tri-X 55 years ago - I indifferent shifted to Ilford in the late 80s.
    Have to laugh - most of my 120 stuff is with a Holga!
    My intention is to develop at home again and scan the negs..
    Your usual pretty En Zee drone work, too!

    Awesome mate ... Yes being around water makes a big difference in our lives & the sound of water lapping against the banks, can sooth the mind so well. Some nice images once again Paul .

    I am so glad your thumb nail came up on a google search for long exposure. That was absolutely beautiful to watch and your drone footage just added the calmness to what already was a relaxing video. I am just getting into long exposure on my 35mm film camera (been doing long exposure on digital for 5yrs) and this was so helpful. Thank you, I am now off to relax a bit more and binge watch some more of your videos.

    First off, I've been binge watching your videos and I have to say great job, keep up the excellent work. I'm really enjoying all of the film photography videos.
    I did want to mention that for long exposure photography with film, you should consider reciprocity failure. This will impact your exposure times for most films when you get into the 2-4+ second exposures for most films. You may be accounting for this and leaving it out of the video but I wanted to mention it as I think it could be an interesting topic for you to cover or at least bring up in a video.

    • @PaulCSmithPhotographer
      @PaulCSmithPhotographer  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks for that. Yes I've heard about that, all my exposures were over 30sec up 1min. How do you think the film handled it?? Interested in your comments?

    • @mpikers
      @mpikers Před 5 lety

      Paul C Smith Photographer I think your results looked great but I'm not sure how much work was done in post, doesn't matter either way asong as you get the desired results :)
      Here is a good page that shows the exponential impact of reciprocity failure for most of the popular films:

    Hi Paul. I've been looking at trying some long exposures on film. Bit concerned about reciprocity though. Maybe I'm over thinking it for 'normal' cameras and that it's reserved for using a pinhole (oh I have a Reality So Subtle pinhole coming on October!). Nice episode 👍

    Great stuff again. You have probably been asked this a lot but what do you use to scan your film.

  • @markharris5771
    @markharris5771 Před 5 lety

    The image towards the end with the branches coming out of the water got a definite "Wow" off me. All your images are excellent, but that one was very special in a class of its own.
    I really like how you use your drone, I think you use it more artistically than anyone else on CZcams. You don’t use it every video for some gratuitous B roll, the times you do use it it melts into your video almost seamlessly.
    I’ve just got a new (to me) 40mm PE for my Bronica, and I've a few rolls of Delta 100. You’ve inspired me and motivated me to get out with it soon. Again you’ve showed me just how much I’m over thinking the reciprocity rule.
    Even at your phenomenally high standard this video stands out like several others of yours. No human story involved this time, just beautiful photography. Thank you.

    • @PaulCSmithPhotographer
      @PaulCSmithPhotographer  Před 5 lety +1

      Thanks Mark, this week I was tempted to buy a Hasselblad 503, but I think I will just buy a wider lens for this Mamiya and save myself a few thousand$$. Good luck with the 40mm

    Not the greatest fan of the old Milk of Magnesia water. I think it has to suit the style of shot rather than the style being imposed on the scenery. Nothing wrong with the shots but just leaves me a little underwhelmed. I think minimalism and long exposures have almost become synonymous; when they are two different styles to me.
    I can see how you were just chilled with the scenery though.

  • @MileyonDisney

    CZcams is NOT the place to stretch video length by adding lots of 'nothing' footage, especially repeated footage. And S-O L-O-N-G between the slides! You really wasted a lot of time in this video. It takes away from the cool photography you did.
