Engine tear down.. let's go!! We couldn't believe our luck when our dream engine popped up on FB marketplace! It feels bloody surreal to be stripping it back & even though finding corrosion on the engine block is far from ideal, our lucky streak has continued (hint: replacement GENUINE Toyota engine block popping up on marketplace right when we needed it)! Stay tuned for the next couple of episodes in preparation for the Engine Build! 🤝🏻

Helped a mate do his 80 with the FTE with the 5 speed auto behind it, its a weapon.

You said you won''t need the different sensors on the original intake runner as you will run an ECU that doesn't need them.
Will you be running a standalone diesel engine ECU like the Baldur DID1 or something else?
We never got the HDJ79 in Norway, probably not in the whole of Europe, so have no clue what the difference is in HDJ100 and HDJ79 ECU are expect no immobilizer.
You mention you got a steal of a bargain on the engine, but didn't mention the actual bargain price, what was it?
I found a bargain of a 1HD-T, don't know what to use it in yet, but had to pick it up! Just 1750$ AUD.
Maybe put it in my HJ61, but already got the sweet 12H-T in there 🤔

Yes we will be running a standalone ECU which has no tuning limitations and is only made in Australia by Boostec (we show more on this in a later episode). The only other difference that we know of between the HDJ100 and HDJ79 ECU is the HDJ100 ECU was tuned for a tiny bit more power. We purchased the 1HD-FTE Engine secondhand for AUD $12,000 but they usually sell for closer to AUD $15,000. That's a pretty good price for a 1HD-T! The only downfall with them is they're a 12 valve head and don't flow as much air a what a 24 valve head does like the FT's & FTE's. Definitely don't swap out the 12H-T, they're a god motor as well!!

@@sand_to_outback go for it nothing like turning that key in the middle of nowhere and it al works and you will know every nut and bolt they are a brilliant engine the Toyota engineer started designing it ten years before it was released enjoy

@@rockbiterhdI believe Yamaha engineered the cylinder head , engine also in marine applications used by yanmar , the yanmar rocker cover is silver & I don’t believe it has the hump , allows clearance for a top mounted intercooler , it also looks better than the original black humpy cover , IMO.
