I was always let down by the Alfa F-1 Team, and sports car teams never enjoyed the sucess that Porsche,and Ferrari HAD IN THIER GOOD YRS. Alfa did good with thier 33 hill climb car in mid 70's. and again in the champ of makes with the 33/TT/12, and SC12's. they did reallly good with thier 156 saloon car's too.. but it seems like F-1 was always a struggle for them. a win here and there but nothing constant. looked like they treated Alfa like an underdog. not reallly takling them serious.
thing was,bernie thought he could beat Ferrari at their own game,buy using an italian 12 cylinder engine.only the alfa 12,while good for the sportscars,seemed hopless in an F1 car.
