Beta Ray Bill is one of those characters where you look at the design and think "by all logic that shouldn't be cool". But somehow he defies expectations and has always been an awesome character

I love it because his design basically screams "Monster of the Week reject 5" but thanks to his abilities and character he becomes one of the raddest Marvel characters.

I was explaining Beta Ray Bill to a coworker who likes the Thor films but rarely reads comics. He was like dude that sounds stupid, and I said the same thing you did. I told him to go on the internet and read about Bill and you will see he is a beloved character.
Out of the three adaptations of this story, my favorite one is the one from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The cherry on top was that they got Steve Blum to voice Bill, which is rad. Can't wait for the Daniel Warren Johnson one.

Beta Ray Bill is one of those characters who is like that guy who isn’t by necessarily around all the time but when he shows up to the party everyone is insanely happy to see him.

I love Beta Ray Bill. Whenever he shows up in a book, I just smile. This horse faced man is just the coolest guy.

Beta Ray Bill is easily in my top 3 Marvel characters. He just so badass while being so noble at the same time. I'm loving all the representation he's been getting on the channel recently!
He and Silver Surfer are some of the few awesome cosmic characters who've always been awesome before Annihilation.

Simonson has a creator owned Comic Ragnorork that is closer to the Myths but still feels like a Last Thor story.

Wow this episode is so good! Love the way Simonson cuts through the BS Marvel mythology to embrace some aspects of actual Norse mythology. Sal's enthusiasm is contagious!

Great episode! I enjoyed the article on the benefits of an “Ultimate DC”. Maintaining the balance between character accessibility for new readers and honoring continuity for older readers seems to be a hard endeavor for the big two.

I find the idea of Beta Ray Bill so interesting, "horse faced alien Thor" could really become lame quick but it never does for me
The fact that Sal enjoys this book so much is felt through the entire review
I loved Simonson's run and his Ragnarok series he is currently still working on via IDW, he such a nice and genuinely great guy. The funny thing in this run later is that Lorelei actually has Thor drink a love potion later when he pretends to be a construction worker on Midgard, that makes him infatuated with her to the point that I think he attacks anyone who insults her, but then catches her and Loki embracing and becomes super depressed for so long in this run which was hilarious to read. I just love how Simonson weaves this soap opera esque moments in this run.
This episode was a delight. It was so fun watching you talk about a book you so thoroughly enjoyed. I read a trade of this story as a kid and it was absolutely great then, and I wish I had it on hand to read now. Bill is just so absurdly awesome and noble, how can you not love him? I really hope you do his series on here.
Walt Simonson is my favorite comic creator. Check out his series Ragnarok by IDW. I think it’s some of his best work ever.

I read this in the Simonson Thor omnibus. That was a fun read, even if my wrists were wishing it were published in two volumes by the end.

Beta Ray Bill has always been one of my favorite superheroes. Incredibly powerful, yet a sociocultural underdog; a horrifying (but also distinctive and cool) monster, possessing the noblest of souls; he just strikes a chord with me.
Yes!! This is the best story ever! To me this (the whole Simonson Thor run, really) is the pinnacle of Marvel super hero comics. The majesty, the grandeur, the humor, the drama. This is soo great. Love it.

OMG yes! I so hoped for this episode. Aaron made me like Thor, but Simonson made me love him and elevated him to my favorite character. The entire run is a masterclass in comics
