  • In this video I’m sharing what curriculum I use with my 2 year old, almost 3 year old toddler. When I say “curriculum” I’m not talking about formal, workbook-like curriculum. I’m just showing some materials I use to teach the alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors and vocabulary that are inexpensive and can be used whenever my toddler is ready to learn the more academic subjects.
    Teaching these things to our toddlers are exciting, especially when they show interest! But remember, the most important learning your toddler should be doing is playing and exploring! Their brains are absorbing so much of the world around them, so allowing your little one to dig in the dirt, build a block tower, help you pick vegetables at the grocery store…all of these things that seem so simple to us, are actually the greatest lessons for them. Your toddler does not need curriculum. They don’t even need to learn the alphabet right now if they’re not interested in it. That kind of learning will come in time! (So take a breath, you’re doing a wonderful job!) But when your toddler is interested in letters, shapes and numbers, then this is the video for that! Happy learning!

    Sometimes I find myself a little skeptical of "curriculum" suggestions from home educators. However, I was vey impressed from start to finish. I could immediately see the benefits of each suggestion, and I loved the sign language add in :) Great video!

    My 2 year old is speech delayed but his toddler “thing” is letters and numbers and you can tell he has a real grasp on them and not just rote memory. I feel like every toddler has their thing whether it’s dinos, cars, dolls whatever it may be. Mine just happens to really love letters and numbers haha😂 this is encouraging me to do more “school” type activities with him. I have a lot of these resources but will definitely be adding the flash cards. Those are great

    I started my 2 yro granddaughter. Her attention span is Abt 20 minutes.
    We do letters - matching objects
    And pick which one is different.
    She did that in 5 seconds. As soon as she understood. Like 4 giraffes & one no spots.
    4 flowers ,,& one a different color etc
    She loves dinosaurs and Knows every single dino-
    And now sea animals. Also
    Little fox does a little more about each animal
    She's interested - so we go w that
    She's a sponge
    We did B and the animals that start w B
    That night I asked animals that start w B and she remembered badger

      Advice would be to play to your child’s interests and not to worry about formal learning activities at this age. As said in the video - reading is the best way to teach concepts to your child whether it’s language, shapes, numbers. Just go with what they like and try to find activities that match. Like if they’re obsessed with dolls count their dolls. Or if they love transportation find an ABC transportation book :)

    • @MyAlmaModern
      @MyAlmaModern  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yes, @agrubbs7496 is absolutely right! No worries if your toddler is not interested in learning those things. They are actually learning a TON simply by playing and exploring their environment. What is also important is reading to them, get them familiar with language through reading, it's a great preface for learning how to read 😊
