Common magician's trick. The lenticular sheet is a series of convex lens in one direction hence defocusing in one axis only hence light gets scattered on one axis but not the other so any long narrow object, even a person that's lined up with the stripes in the sheet achieve partial invisibility. There's a company that makes polycarbonate riot shields lined with lenticular sheets so the police officer can blend into the environment by just kneeling behind his shield.
