    This is the first time a CZcamsr talking about video editing, recommending to create our own music with an already available app on the MacBook.
    Your videos are so practical, informative and without any nonsense. You are so underrated, Gary. I'm glad I found your channel.

    I wasn’t going to watch this video, because it was 10 minutes long. But I stuck it out and I have to say, thank you. I loved how you thoroughly explained what to do, how to do it, and different ways it could be done. I love how you gave reassurance, and told us that if music does not appear in Apple Music. It is, because it is not an actual file that we downloaded to Apple Music.
    Thanks again!

    What if I have a video that I took on my phone (narration etc,) and want to use the audio from it as background in a different video? Do I have to convert the narration video to a “music” file somehow first? I wish I could just import multiple overlaid videos at once, and pick & choose which audio/visuals get used from each.

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před rokem +1

      Just bring in the video, then detach the audio from it. Then bring in the other video and slide the audio under it. Or you could put one video in the main track and the other in the overlay track and do exactly what you said. Cut out the overlay track when you want the main track to be seen.

What I need to do is cut up video clips and move them to and fro on top of a static audio clip. I want to edit TO the changes in the music. When I try to do this, the video clip wants to snap back where it was. WHY? I can't figure it out and I'm going crazy. Any help is appreciated.

    There's one nagging issue with adding music, and that's when you insert a track between 2 others, iMovies trimms the length of all the other proceeding tracks instead of just adding the length to the timeline. If you have a work around that would be a so useful :)

    Hey from Japan, Gary! I recently switched to Mac after 25+ years of the "other PC." I am trying to make some nice videos of family, church, my Tesla and Triumph Bonneville, and came across an audio problem. After getting the much touted DJI Wireless Mic, assuming it would record on my iPhone in stereo, it took a few months of fiddling to actually get a true L+R signal. Now I can't edit the signals separately, as iMovie just shows Mono audio, though playback in Quicktime or uploaded CZcams clearly separates the signals. I've watched your MacOS and iOS videos on iMovie, but haven't found anything about single-source Stereo editing, or panning L&R. Why does iMovie default to Mono?
    I always appreciate your videos, as do my schoolkids. Cheers, Randy

    • @macmost

      @teslagaijin8672 Před rokem

      @@macmost Thanks for the reply, Gary ... and sorry to be slow in responding. Time zones are the ultimate excuse!
      Well, I only saw one line when I detached audio, and could find no way to edit that single line, so there was nothing really to export. I want to be able to separate the channels to blend the sound of my motorcycle passing by the screen (or drone shot), or separate one mic recording the Japanese sermon while the other is simultaneously recording the English translator, then remove one or the other for the listener. I tried in Quicktime and iMovie with the same result.
      Here's a little clip I made that shows that CZcams posted in stereo:
      czcams.com/video/D6MaV--06c0/video.html
      I'm doing this on a budget (obviously) and was looking for a really simple solution, without purchasing a digital sound recorder and mixing post-production.
      Thanks for your help!. Arigatou, Randy

    • @macmost
      @macmost  Před rokem

      @@teslagaijin8672 I'm pretty sure the stereo is still there. The waveform representation is just cosmetic and doesn't mean it has been converted to mono. I think your options for editing in stereo are to either use something more pro-level like Final Cut Pro or Premiere, or to do your audio editing in GarageBand which has a special mode for editing videos.
