I'm really surprised that the fanbase of House is still alive and it's 2018, I remember watching this TV show on my native language in 2010, but I always wanted to watch it when I learn English sometimes, it's hard to understand some parts without subs, but I get the point anyway. CoverofWinter I know this comment is like 3 months old and you probably don't really care but you're right with the translation thing. I speak German and English so I often transition between the German version and the English version. I have to say, house is equally as witty in the German translation. Sometimes character's personality doesn't show that well in their respective dubs but German does quite a good job. However in the episode when the one part of a lesbian couple had the black plague, a joke that worked well in the English version does not work in the German dub. House was just about to confirm his diagnosis when he poked a needle into a lump the patient had and extracted a black fluid. In the German version the black plague isn't called "black plague" but instead it is called "beulen pest", which translates to "lump" or "dent" plague. However when he extracts the fluid, he says "we've got a case of plague" to which chase curiously responds "the black plague?", to which house looks at the syringe filled with black fluid and says "seems like it" implying since the fluid is black it must be the black plague. In the German version however chase asks "die beulen pest?" rendering the joke, or the implication rather, not as effective.

Sheol_IK I was young when I would watch this on cable and this show was indeed very good for my mind. It always made me think and sometimes I'd be so fascinated by the dramatizations of what's going on inside their bodies. I'd try to spot which organ or part of the body was being shown. It is always fun to guess, now that I'm older and know a bit more about medicine than I used to. And it even helped me on tests in schools that were on things like bones and systems of the body. I'd remember things I'd seen to the show when I was young and use it to help me. My point is, people without an in-depth understanding of medicine can be thinking while watching the show.

I really like that they had an episode about symptomatic chimerism. it's actually fairly common, but it doesn't usually cause symptoms. things like unilateral skin hyperpigmentation usually indicate chimerism, but it would only be found incidentally. there are a few different well-known cases of chimerism where a mother's biological relation to her kids was called into question because DNA taken from her blood didn't match that of her children; in one case, DNA taken from the woman's cervix DID match her children

Akinetopsia or simply motion blindness, is neuro phenomenon that’s usually a symptom of an underlying neurological disease. Typically older patients that will experience this are undergoing through dementia, or Alzheimer’s. Individuals over 25 that experience this disorder may also be in the final stages of Parkinson’s disease or ALS. Other possible causes of course can be the result of inflammation or infection such as encephalitis, or an active lesion taking place in a patient who has multiple sclerosis. Unless a patient has epilepsy, akinetopsia should not be diagnosed of in self alone unless testing for other disease come back negative, and that’s including drug screening for recreational substances, and psychiatric disorders have also been dismissed.

I saw the Akinotopsia on a youtube short recently. The way House phased out like that, I was mesmerized. These special cases must be what he lives for, because he has way too much fun at their expense.
