    Our 1988 catalina 34 is a dream. Its very roomy and it has the sleeping space for the entire fam. Very very comfortable boat. Oh, and it sails amazing.

    We have had a 1986 34' Catalina for about 6 years and have just purchased a bigger boat- our Catalina was a dream to sail, perfect, great layout :)

    You guys this is Amazing!!! Sooo much room and storage!!
    Trick… get a waffle type material called “Sailrite” to line your food storage areas. And to put under bedding for ventilation, prevents mildew/mold.

    We had the same boat. Great sled! I highly recommend stainless replacement throttles. The nylon versions can break at the worst time. Enjoy!

    Nice tour! I also have a catalina 34, so it is interesting to see the differences. Your nav table has definitely been modified to give tons more storage than the standard configuration. Looking forward to seeing more videos of the boat this season!

      @thelostcompass  Před rokem +1

      Thanks for watching Andy! Yeah, we noticed this is a little bit different configuration as well, I suppose it has its pros and cons just like anything. I like the idea of being able to sit down at an actual NAV station, but you do get quite a bit more storage underneath as ours is arranged. Thanks again for watching and make sure you subscribe if you haven’t already.! Cheere🤙🏼🍻

    We have a 87 C34 and we love it. You boat has some interior changes that look like they were done very nicely. I have done a few interior changes that you may like down the road. I like the larger Lewmar self tailers on the cabin top. I don't think those were original. Congrats! I am sure you already know about the C34 owners site!?

      Hey Paul we’re stoked to be apart of the Catalina crew now! It’s been a boat on our radar for a while! Thank you for watching and supporting our Chanel! We have heard of that site, it’s quite awesome isn’t it?!

    Thanks for the tour and nice to meet you. Your boat is one of the nicest 87 I have seen. We have a Catalina 35 Mk 1.5 here in San Diego... few videos on my YT channel if interested. I've subscribed and hope to see more sailboat adventures.

    Love you hear how it sails to windward in light winds. We may want to get one as well. Do you know what clearance you need for bridges?

    • @thelostcompass
      @thelostcompass  Před rokem

      She’s not amazing windward in light winds but she’s heavy and feels very safe. Not reactive in gusts or anything so that’s nice. We have the tall mast so 55’.

    Beautiful! Any Blisters on boat when you bought? We are looking at C34's too and the one we were hoping to purchase and were just told the diver found a blister!

    • @thelostcompass
      @thelostcompass  Před 8 měsíci +1

      No lucky for us. They had just repainted the bottom, so it was very clean!

    I have an '86 Catalina 34 that I just recently bought and we're very happy with it. It's almost identical to yours. Unfortunately boats of this era didn't have sugar scoops so when we want to go swimming we have to go in and out on the tiny rear ladder. We live in South Florida so the water here is beautiful most of the year. Unfortunately getting back up requires major acrobatic skills. Do you have any thoughts on an elegant way to extend the ladder deeper into the water? I'm not sure if that's an issue in the Pacific North West as the water is much colder there! Enjoy!

    • @fxprocc
      @fxprocc Před 3 měsíci

      There's a ladder extension you can purchase. I will try to find them for you, as I will be buying it as well.

    • @thelostcompass
      @thelostcompass  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I’m 6’1” and have room to spare! That’s one thing I really liked about it, tons of head room!

    • @svsandpebble
      @svsandpebble Před měsícem

      I'm 6’3” and can stand tall in it most areas of the boat everyone else can. The bathroom? I shower in it almost every weekend when visiting her. Its a wet head which I gladly accept in exchange for its room and just, and I mean just enough headroom to wash my hair Lol. An amazing boat the Catalina 34, mine? 1987.

    • @thelostcompass
      @thelostcompass  Před rokem

      Still enjoying the boat, we haven’t spent as much time on it as we would like but it’s a solid strong boat. Had it out in 35 knt winds this winter and she’s so strong we felt safe🤘🏻 lots of room in the cockpit for multiple crew to be working and didn’t feel like anyone was in each-others way. Classic Catalina build👍🏻 thanks for watching!
