This is the best benchmarking video I have seen. You did the benchmarking on different graphical presets and that's fantastic! Really loved it. Would definitely appreciate if you do more benchmarking on PC gpu setups as well!
Thanks for comment ! Not sure about PC GPU, there are lot of them, will do laptop I think
The trick to getting the most out of this GPU is to lower the resolution. Performance is greatly increased at 720p.
Yes but games look auwful
@@rewernan Yes and no.. the trick to this GPU is to shoot for lock stable 30 or 60 FPS framerates. Using custom resolutions, image sharpening, FXAA and a mixture of setting can get some great results. What good is having high resolutions if the game world is sparse or the frame rates are inconsistent. This GPU may lack the ram, but with some optimizations it can get results around a Xbox One / PS4.
you are right, usually for heavy games i set 1366 x 768
@@rewernan is better 1366 x 768
I using 900p with low CPU/GPU boost. Games looks good and I get near 70FPS. Profit!
This has been incredibly helpful in debating whether or not I should keep investing in my current setup or bite the bullet and start with a new one. Thank you so much!!
Honestly build a pc I’ve use to have this laptop I’ve optimized it so much I can run csgo high on 240 fps I have a gtx 960m and i7 4720hq it’s annoying playing 2020 games on low with low fps

Nice. I have a HUGE backlog of old games due to busy life.. So for now 960m will suffice 😘
Amazing. Thank you!
Great video !
good video :) i was looking into the 960m but i was looking at the 4gb variant of it. so but looking at this video i can assume the 4gb version would run even better at higher settings. THANKS!!!
Glad I could help!
I have the 4gb variant. thinking of switching to 3080...big jump, I know.
Nice video !
tnx really helped me out
thanks a lot for testing. do more testing of different laptops to develop the channel
This is what I needed to see
Bro, I'm going to buy a laptop MSI GL62 variant GTX 960m and i7 6700hq, a laptop 7 years ago, is it still worth it this year to play games like the ones mentioned above?
best benchmark video ever
Great content and very helpful video bro. And can you explain me why the PC have same vga and CPU with the laptop can run better than in laptop???
PC and laptop can have similar names of CPU and GPU, but in fact it`s different things. For example GTX 960 on PC is about 2 times faster than GTX 960M on laptop. But not all, 1050 for example is about the same on PC and laptop (PC slightly better)
remember, hes also recording on the laptop, so yeah. Recording while playing high demending game may lead to almost half the frames taken away. (and even 3/4 of the frames)
Видео очень полезное! Спасибо большое!!!

You are the best
I have a 5 year old Lenovo Y700 i7-6700, 8gb ram, 960m 4gb. I only upgraded internals to M.2 SSD and the laptops is great! I plan to upgrade to 16gb ram. The only game i really play on it is League of Legends. I think most games are playable at low settings but i just don't enjoy low settings. It's mainly my work laptop so its still good for me.
I have the same laptop with the same configuration. What did you use to upgrade your system's internals? Also is it possible to upgrade internals to 1tb ssd?
@@sanjayk9958 i actually ended up with 32GB Crucial Ram. And added a 1tb San Disk SSD 2.5'. System works like a beast.
In this video, you've tested the 2gb variant. How much better does the 4gb variant perform, approximately?
About the same, amount of VRAM do not speed up GPU. May be in games that uses more than 2 gb you will see 10-20% difference, but in 90% you will not see difference

I would recommend searching for a newer model, preferably one with pascal or turing series gpu because 960m is 5 years old.. I have lenovo y700 (16gb ram/4gb vram/i7-6700hq quad) and the best it can run is Control at 45 fps at low-medium.. rdr2, detroit, and upcoming games like hzd, cyberpunk will perform poorly
@@n00b_ninja The main factor can be cost )) For example I would recommend RTX 2080 based laptop )) But it will cost 3000 USD. Let people do their choise, based on their possibilities.
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark Oh I meant 10 series by turing.. He can get laptops with that gpu under $1000 easily.. Giving a significant fps boost in most games as compared to 9 series as well as being slightly more future proof.
@@n00b_ninja 860/960m you can buy for 300-400 USD, and most games still playable. And if you catch 980m for 400-600 usd you will beat 1050Ti in games
Thx
Awesome video thanks! do you think METRO EXODUS will hit steady 30 fps on low if I only have 8GB RAM?
RAM usage about 5 Gb, so 8 Gb should be enough for low settings
Is this the laptop version? And I can I run fortnite on the 960m 4gb version core i5 660k and 8gigs of ram on low settings above 60fps? (Lenovo y50-70 series laptop)
Yes, this is laptop version, actually all M GPU is laptop versions. Amount of VRAM usually do not make GPU faster, so 960m 4gb have about the same performance with 960m 2 gb. You can have more than 60fps, may be 70-80+, try different settings.
Laptops In game Benchmark thanks for the reply man
I installed the game on the disk of the NVIDIA card, is there something wrong with that? Or should I install it on the Intel disk?
Disks cannot be intel or nvidia, and usually, it has no influence on what disk you install game
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark Sorry, I explained myself wrong; The thing is, I have a 126GB hard drive and another 1TB hard drive, so I installed the game on the 1TB one.
thank you for putting WOT into the test..
Can you please show your Nvidia settings too? And other ways to boost our performance with this laptop, I have the same exact settup, tried No Man's Sky but the static sound keeps popping up none stop, my settings are at the most lowest but still no difference... Thank you...
It was no additional Nvidia tuning, all defaults settings. So clocks you can see at on screen statistics.
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark Ah ok, my laptop has the same settings but lags alot while gaming, stutter sound, slow loading areas etc, thought you played around with the Nvidia settings, thank you for the reply.
Is it still good Nvidia Geforce 960m?
I have gtx 960 m and it runs nothing like yours. Fallout 4 only run in 30 fps on low settings. What i do wrong?
Try to install msi afterburner, it`s program for on screen info. Than try to compare stats with video. GPU clocks, GPU load etc. Your GPU doesn`t work properly, there are many reasons why it happens, so you need to investigate
Snagged a laptop with this GPU tonight for only £160 ($197). Only into very casual gaming so very pleased. 30 fps is good enough for me
I guess if you lowered the resolution, these games would perform drastically better on medium and even high settings, right?
Actually in video you can see every game at 3 settings type, and yes if you lower resolution you can have 20-40% increased fps
Please i have the same gtx 960m and i5 4th , the gpu go up to 90° and the cpu arround 85° , is it normal or it's so bad?
Actually not so good, but not so bad. 75-85 is very good temperatures so nothing needed to do. 85-95 not so good, better try to clean cooling system, change thermal paste etc. and 95-105 critical temperature, laptop can shuts down, throttling etc
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark oh thanks a lot man i appreciate it
👍👌
I have a Acer Black Aspire V Nitro Laptop. I got it back in 2016. It can't even run Warzone and it's performance in Fortnite or other games are becoming horrible. the max FPS I get is around 40-50 in a Fortnite match or in other games that I play on. I wanna buy a new Laptop from MSI with a RTX 2060 Super and with a Intel Core i7. I'm not allowed to buy one with my own money and it sucks hard. But I'm getting one soon! My dad made a promise, lol.
What temperature is ok for one laptop on gaming?
85 it`s ok, a bit more as well, but if 90+ you should think about more effective cooling
can u test cyberpunk on this laptop? How u think, how much fps we get?
I did already test, I don`t have laptop anymore (( But I think cyberpunk will be unplayable
is the metro exodus playable for 960m 4 gb version with i7 and 16gb ram
you can see metro exodus in this video, with 960m 4 gb version with i7 with 16 ram will the same. fps limited by gpu not by cpu or ram
after flashing gpu bios i have 55+ fps in fh4 on high and 1080p. My gpu boost clock is about 1500 MHz
how to flash?
Idk how but i have a i7-6700hq same graphics and my gta runs at 30-40 low res everything low 😭
I have 4gb not 2gb, will that make an actual difference? or minimal
no difference on performance, with 4 gb you can set higher settings with better textures, but usually performance not enough for those settings. For example you can set GTA5 on ultra settings with 4 gb, but cannot with 2 gb, but fps will be very low so it senseless
Just drop the resolution to 1600x900 and voila!
I have a tremendous problem, the heat distribution is soo bad that my keyboard is actually so hot that burns my wrist. core temp stays at 62 C but literally keyboard is extremely hot. I ve changed thermal, cleaning, and I do believe that fan is slow and that s why is overheating. In the last 5 days I stood and read and research and everything I did including holes besides fan didn t help.. actually I had to buy an external keyboard.
May be damaged thermal copper pipe. Try to check it just by finger. Check on working laptop, run some game, and put finger on plate on CPU, than GPU, than on pipe near the fan. Be careful it will be very hot.
So plate/pipe should be very hot everywhere. If it`s not hot near the pipe, but hot near CPU/GPU, so pipe is damaged and you need to change whole cooling. If it`s not hot near CPU/GPU so no heat distribution from chip to plate/pipe
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark update: Out of the sudden my computer is cold as ice with 2 game sessions. I didn t do anything, changed anything, last night was in the same situation with keyboard barely to be touched, today there are zero simptoms.. I am totally confused.
@@harrystroe8400 )) I have no ideas as well
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark Finally I ve managed to understand what cause this nightmare. A very rare situation tbh, I dont have all the facts yet but, it seems RAM's caused the overheating, I have 2 slots with 4/8 gb and after switching slots and let singular RAM going, one of my ram slots is broken, altough until now it shows in good condition and apart of this, 8gb ram is faulty too since with only it running keyboard starts to overheat again. Is a very rare situation, less often RAM can cause overheating but in my case definetly was the cause. I ve already bought an MSI GF75 so my old asus will end up in the garbage bin. Thanks for the support.

I have the same laptop as you do except I only have 8GB. FH3 is just unplayable, due tu RAM shortage maybe? 🤔

8 Gb of RAM can increase fps, if you have not enough. If you do have enough, will no increase.
16gb might help out, but I'm not a pro at pc gaming. Look into 16gb

How much ram you got. You need at least 8gb of ram to play newer games. 16gb is even better.
@@robinp6ss I got 16 gb ram.... processor is i7 4710hq
@@amphenomenol5556 i7 4 gen. HQ can be found in many laptops and I saw a lot of benchmarks. The temp of this cpu is going too high (even 90°C+) and that could be the problem.
@@dusk5927 does undervolting helps?
@@amphenomenol5556 yes, but it depends. You can install speccy, cpu-z (do a stress test and press submit, your browser will open up with the results, including the temperature) or gpu-z (this program allows you to watch the temp of your i7 and your graphics card up to a minute ago, it is helpful when gpu-z is running in the background, then you can check the results)
I saw people on forums with i7 gen4 HQ (4700hq, 4702hq, 4710hq, 4720hq) complaining about their cpus going to 90 degrees while the cpu usage was lower than 60%.
Try to clean it though if you didn't already, use some thermal paste.
Your problem could be something about software. Close all unnecessary processes in the background, make sure your game is using the dedicated graphics card instead intel hd graphics.
I have an msi laptop with pretty much same specs exept 8 gb ram but i cant realy play any game in 1080p. Because my laptop has an huge cooling issues. For example i tried to play The witcher 3 on 720p low setting and gpu hit 92 degrees in after 5 min. As you can see the thermal throttling is a big issue and thats why i dont like my laptop :D
every such case needed to be investigated. Can be lot of reasons: thermal paste, broken heat pipe, bad fan etc
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark Well i change thermal paste time to time thermal pipes looks okay and fan is almost brand new, all i am guessing is it is just bad design. I even contacted msi and all they say is the temperature i get is normal which is bs to me because why would it need to thermal throtthle if 86 is normal :D am i right:D
@@furkankose4773 you have to check by finger plate above GPU (but careful), if it`s extrimely hot, than thermal paste and heatsink fit is ok.Thermal pipes also sould be checked by finger, compare if it has the same temperature on all lenght, they can look ok, but don`t conduct heat.
Wonder if fps will be better if 720p
Of course wil be better about 15-25%
Cpu temp 85c?
Yes, 85 is ok
Gtx960m vs mx150 who win?
960m about 30-50% faster than mx150, only newer mx350 have about the same performance as old 960m
Shouldn't really be playing newer games at 1080p on something this old. You'll get better performance at 900p and 720p or lower resolutions.
I did the test. and I think owners can decide by themselves on which setting they should play. As for me you can enjoy lot of games on 40-60 fps, it`s no necessary get 150+ fps on every game
So basically most games in the last 5 years are barely even playable on lowest settings. Gotcha lol
So from other side, 6 year old mid level laptop still can handle all AAA+ games. Yes of course not on ultra settings.
@@LaptopsIngameBenchmark It's nice, but I much rather see what it takes to get a locked 30 or 60 FPS gaming experience. I've created some custom 16:9 resolutions, add image sharpening, overclock the memory and play with a mixture of high and medium settings to get my 960m playing AAA titles at playable smooth FPS. Unstable frame-rate benchmarking is nice when comparing GPUs, but it's not practical for actually playing the games.

980m is faster than 1050Ti )) and also depend on price, so 960 for 250-300$ is very good choise
I have the same laptop from 2016!
You can easily get a playable 30-40 fps in most games with low settings 1080p.
Since you have 4GB of VRAM, you can actually use fairly high texture quality, but turn down antialiasing, shadows, god rays, depth of field. Use MSI Afterburner to overclock to +135Mhz, maybe +200Mhz memory clock with a good laptop cooling pad (watch your temps).
RDD2 ???
Will 4gb one do better job?
almost the same, the bottleneck is chip performance not VRAM amount
