- High Speed Trains running in the Severn Valley Railway are a rare, unusual and unique sight. On September 27th, a HST charter organised by Modern Railways celebrating it's 60th anniversary along with CrossCountry Trains in turn celebrating 40 years of HST operating the Cross Country mainline route, ran from Leeds to Bridgnorth on the SVR with power cars No. 43184 (in InterCity Executive livery) and 43366 at the helm. The tour also ran to raise funds to support the charity Railway Benefit Fund.
The HST is filmed on the following locations:
Victoria Bridge
Arley Station
Eardington Bank (two locations)
Oldbury Viaduct
Borle Brook
Hagley Station
Its always fun to film HSTs on rare and unusual routes.

I saw that hst too on the same day on a tour going to the Severn valley railway
Stunning how you were able to film from so many locations considering she only did two runs on the SVR
I mean considering the very tight timing getting from the area of Arley to Eardington (a distance of 12 miles) as the HST was running non-stop to Bridnorth was pushing the limits but still managed to get the shots.
Excellent video Ryan to capture this rare event of the HST on the SVR. Kind regards C&A
Very nice .
That looks so odd on the SVR, great vid , I would have loved to have seen this, where are the locations at 04:30 & 06:10 and how to get to them thx
At Oldbury Viaduct near Bridgnorth and Borle Brook, might sound confusing but I went to Borle Brook on the first run then to Oldbury Viaduct later on the 2nd return working. I just edited the clips to run them in route order.
Very good video you did I was onboard the HST

There's a lot of likeage / dislikeage emotions for me. Nothing to do with the filming. Purely with the running of the train and the rake.
Stopping at fictional danger signals, then thrashing it afterwards with clag and turbo whistle........keep talking !
What fictional danger signals, and the HST definitely did not thrash on the SVR it traveled at 25mph, I was on the train.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 I could have explained it better. The scenario I described was a fanciful one. Not a description of what happened. From watching the video I think this is quite clear.
The beauty of a class 43 is the sounds it makes and the twin diagonal clag clouds! Coasting at 25 mph, not for me.
I'm glad you were on the train.
Let me know if you need anything else explaining
@@chiefstain yep let me know if you want anything explaining mate, fanciful one crap. 25mph is the only speed you can do on these lines and not only on the train but working on it.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 Oh dear, heads gone. I'm aware of Heritage Railway speed limits. It seems I did need to explain a little further, having the train come to a stop, it can then pull off, thus being able to witness said sights and sounds.
I wasn't implying traveling faster than 25 MPH, merely coasting is not for me, if it is for you that's great. Furthermore I disagree that "25 MPH is the only speed that you can do" don't forget 0.1 MPH - 24.9 MPH - I'm also sure on a real rebel day a driver may even venture into the 26 MPH territory
@@chiefstain Hit a saw point have I, just a pee taker mate, the HST was a Charity special from Leeds to Bridgnorth with two round trips on the SVR and all preserved Steam lines are restricted to 25 MPH by law, Oh the sound of the Diesel Engines it was fantastic as it pulled away from Kidderminster, Bewdley and Bridgnorth other than that it was a non stop special. So what do you want to explain, I have worked on this Railway for over 50 years mate so no explanation required for your silly comment.
