What If You Stopped Going Outside for a Year?
Vložit

- What would happen if you stopped going outside? Human beings aren’t biologically designed to be cooped up. People need to see the sun, be with nature, and stretch their legs. So if you’re stuck at home for a year or you’re a homebody and wish you never had to leave, you can bet you would undergo a dramatic transformation!
First of all, your mental health will take a toll. Someone who stays indoors for a year would lose interest in the things they once cared about and feel sluggish and depressed almost every day!

SUMMARY:
- Anyone who stays indoors too much can experience a vitamin D deficiency, which puts them at risk for weak bones (which can lead to breaks), muscle pains, impaired ability to fight off infection, and even hair loss.
- Heading out to work might be a chore sometimes, but the bright side can be that you’re not at home stuffing yourself with all the readily available and tasty items in your fridge.
- Someone who stays indoors for a year could experience the symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder all year. You can bet that they’d lose interest in the things they once cared about and feel sluggish and depressed almost every day.
- Besides SAD, you might also suffer from social anxiety. If you spend a year indoors by yourself, you might have a difficult time interacting with people or feeling like you’re part of a community afterward.
- Many studies show how connecting to nature can improve mental health. If you stay indoors for a year, you’d be missing out on all of nature’s benefits, including a stable mood, less anxiety, and better memory.
- If you were stuck inside, you might think that stuffing your home with all sorts of exotic plants will do the trick - but not so. If you’re still surrounded by an urban setting, you won’t get the benefits.
- If you’re stuck at home with no particular reason to get up at a regular time each day and you don’t follow any particular sleep routine, your body’s inner clock will be out of sorts - and so will you.
- Pulling off being indoors without any negative health effects would involve a solid sleep routine, regular interaction with other human beings, an adequate at-home workout, and lots of foods with vitamin D.

I stay inside my house for almost 5 year and only going outside once a month. This video describe how i feels . Stay indoors makes me more and more Depressed
I can understand your point
Ive been there too..
Yes I am doing the same as like you, I also stayed indoor for 5 to 6 years
But what is the reason staying inside? Any purpose of life?
I'm literally there right now. it's been 4 months now

shimsha mi it's started 6 year's back when things in my life started go bad and due to problems of life i went in depression and got social anxiety then gradually I started to refrain myself to being among people's then I stop going out of my house often and thereafter crave for confine in home increases thus from last 3 year's I've been in home but not incessantly I seldomly go out like hospitals for exams and so yeah this is it though I do exercise sit in sunlight on my house roof and talk to people's but still I am going through severe mental issues I would suggest everyone not do that
shimsha mi yeah brother I am 22 year's but soon I will engage in social life for sure where you from
shimsha mi i am from India bro pleased to met you are you on WhatsApp?
I tried that for almost exactly a year , ( not contacting anyone , not going out , not going on social media for a year eg. Facebook except binge watching on CZcams and Netflix , lying on bed most of the time ) so the gaining weight and sleeping more is true . But I have never felt so much at peace with myself .
But here i am, cooped up in my room, in the dark, watching this video ;-;

Dionnah don’t think that way. I don’t know what you’ve been going through. But I got issues with myself too. You live once, live the way you most prefer given your current situation. Don’t force yourself to change, you don’t need to. Be comfortable, don’t care what others think.

I did too :/ nothing happened to me though

Precisely.
I've been doing my home-based job for 4 years now and I can truly agree with all of they've mentioned.
We are social animals. In order to create a healthy lifestyle and mental state, we need to be in a group, communicate and express our thoughts, exercise, eat well. If one of them isn't being met, for sure we'll suffer.
Just came from a bus trip where I was sitting near the glass window of the bus, seeing the trees and being exposed to the sun. Next thing I feel, I'm looking forward to the future.

I honestly know what you're saying is absolutely correct. I'm a homebody. I lost my home in 2009 in a house fire, caused by a heating pad. I've suffered since 2009. I had a breakdown when I lost my home. I wasn't able to rebuild. My son lives out-of-state. I had no one to help me. I can't tell you the things I've been through. I do have other issues going on. Staying indoors for long can also have a bad affect on eyesight, as the eyes can get used to seeing everything close up.
In the days when people were locked up in dark dungeons, when released many would go blind, or almost so, when exposed to the bright sun. It shows another way eyesight could be affected, obviously not as much.

Thank you for making this video. Actually I am staying inside for almost a year, not that never stepped outside my home for a year.
I am suffering from a cronic disease, so sometimes I need to visit a doctor, and thats the only reason I head outside.
I am experiencing each and everything mentioned in the video.
A lot anxiety, depression, less mobility and what not. But I don't have other options though.
I know of a place where you never get harmed, a magical place with magical charm. Indoors! indoors! INDOOOORS! (Take it away Penny.)
I am introvert + lazy and working from home from past 3 years.. and everything he said is so true..
I have hair loss problem recently and I also started catching cold more often and later every morning..
But from past few weeks I have changed my routine complete now I go out every morning for an hour also joined gym since i have gained few kilos..
I literally spent 2 years inside because of my illness. During that time, I made sure I went outside to walk, but I still had a depression. Now I work 5 times a week, and I feel happy(although I stopped walking/ my work is pretty stressful).
So I guess interacting with people will make you somehow happier too. Vitamin D is super important though, don't get me wrong.
Well that’s ironic
So far the longest I've gone without going outside is around three or four days
Thats why ur watching a lot of ASMR right? smh

I stayed at home and lived off my savings for a year. It was great. 10/10 would do it again.
What’s the point if your not enjoying your life
@@mohammednasser391 well he's/ she's enjoying it so...
After being knocked over by a car when I was 12 years old I needed a wheel chair and that meant I was unable to do the things a young person would do... yes I put on weight but that was taken care of by me doing a routine the hospital and a special company told me to do...Doing this procedure was very hard for me, but I kept at it with aid from my parents and sister, so when I was able to go outside again by a walking frame I felt the power from the sun and the heat from the sun that wasn't through a window.
I have been indoors for 2 year's and I am depressed my mom doesn't know that
True! I haven't been out much over the last 2.5yrs due to a broken foot and then surgery (mobility)... I gained weight, vitamin D deficiency, sleep is way off, depression...you name it. I am finally more mobile and altho I'm catching everyone's cold/flu bc my immunity is so low.... I feel much better mentally. Do what you can to get out!!
I was house arrested few years back and need to be spent a considerble amount of time at one house. I faced all the above mentioned symptoms, anciety, social anxiety, dullness, High BP, feeling less energy, tiredness etc You made very nice video. thank you.
I am also this type of person.I wanted to live my life like that with all the resources and i had to do nothing.
I did this when I was suffering from extreme anxiety many years ago. Nothing really happened to me .... I just became EXTREMELY frustrated because I was depending on others to do things for me (go to the store etc.). But other than that ..... I was absolutely fine. I was already depressed many years beforehand. So I can't tell if it made a difference.
This needs to be viewed, everywhere, by everyone.
i have stayed indoors for almost 2 years and omg whatever that has been describe is what i went thro , literally gain 10 kg , bags under my eyes , lost of sleep , my anxiety and depression got worse . I’ve done two years so far as I am a wheelchair user in a small village with no shops . So I shop on line ...
I spent 10 years indoors. None of these things apply to me.
10 years !
I have been in a room, also spending time at terrace connecting with the nature, sky , cloud , stars , sunset for three years doing nothing. My sensitivity is the reason I am highly self aware of the world and spritual .
What if you never went outside for a year.
Meanwhile in quarantine:
I was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency and I have to take pills once a week. I’ll go to school then straight home or go indoors. It eventually took a toll. Since NYC is pretty crowded, there’s not really a public place where you can comfortably sit back & relax to get some sun
I know someone like this, they like to stay indoors all the time. I'm sending this video to them
I have barley stepped outside for about half a year now. Because of severe depression and agoraphobia. I take vitamin D but I don't see improvement yet. I lose lots of weight and don't sleep for days, followed by sleeping 20 houres. So I wouldn't recommend it.
Another thing not mentioned when staying indoors, the recycled air going through the home, dry air, dust, the germs going through the air ventilations
So 20 minutes is all it takes, that is doable. As a person with a disability I am indoors most of the time. This is helpful for me. Thank you.
This is so sad, because this is what's happening right now
I once had to stay indoors for a long period rarely going outside. It affected me drastically .
So glad I love nature and the outdoors. The sun is so much energy.

I (23/m) didn't leave the house for 3 and 1/2 years due to personal (mentally) reasons. most of the things in this video didn't happen to me at all. I had no muscle pains, bones were and are not weak, although I was a little sad here and there (rarely). Anxiety was at an all time high. Such as not being able to see people unless I'd seen them in person prior to staying in. Sleep cycle changed here and there but was the same as any other person my age. I didn't take ANY vitamin tablets.
Still -- Cool video though.

I'VE NOT GONE OUTSIDE FOR A YEAR PLUS DUE TO ILLNESS A DEPRESSION. YOUR VIDEO IS 100% ACCURATE
It's been 4 months since I stepped out of my house😂
I got hurt on the job in June of 2017 and have pretty much been homebound since, I was an over the road trucker so sitting in one place all the time is really annoying!! I was used to a different every morning, now I just wait to see if a new spider web was spun over night!
I can say I have been experiencing all of this - depression, sleep disruption, weight gain, fatigue and other things not covered in this video. I guess I need to get off my tail and get outside!
I'm too! at exact date you have just said. Now I'm scared about going back to work. It's almost 2 yrs home bound.
@@thephoenix1601 ...I can't return to work, I just get to sit around and hope they see fit to let me and my 5 inches thick medical record have disability.

anxiety will occur and the road to recovery is not worth it
I experienced this when I was home schooled for a year it wasn't by choice but with no regular schedule I was more likely to sleep all day, eat more, and I started to feel the consequences it had on my body. I was only going outside literally 2 days a week. I found that I had to just go stand outside to wake me up and feel energized not saying home school is bad but it certainly isn't for everyone.
Well how’s 2019
I suffer from SAD. Its grueling, especially in Jan or Feb. I've had it almost all my life but realized it in my teens.
At work, I use a happylite by verilux, the full spectrum lamp, bc since its during the day and when I need to sit and do data entry its easiest. I dont use it after 5pm bc it can stim my sleep patterns. I take 10,000 IU ViT D3 through the winter plus alot of symbiotic supplements. And of I can, I try to get 15 mins of sunlight without sunglasses, ( per Drs orders) bc you absorb VIt K through youreyes, and VIt D through the skin.
I should have a better sleep and exercise schedule, but even in the winter I'm very active indoors with house projects, cleaning and tending to my indoor gardens. I'm always on my feet, but I should get more cardio and do yoga. Yoga helps me alot.
I am rarely indoors during the spring and summer. I'm a garden coordinator at a local school, and always doing things outside at home too.
I eat healthy and devour kale during thewinter. I listen to what my body craves and green leafy veggies are high on VIT D. But you need VIt C for your body to properly metabolize VIT D. So, I eat alot of grapefruit and drink OJ, lots of lemons in cooking or salads with it.
SAD is very prevalent this side of the hemisphere. Its crazy how many people are deficient in VIT D and dont even know it.
Same across the board. And I plan to start an indoor herb garden bc I cook "fresh."
l m in this group dude!!! thank you for helping me ☺😊

ify. and anxious :(
Recently i have spent too much time indoors as staying in the small town i'm in temporarily is really boring so theres not much to see or do outside. I used to feel better in my large city, i cant wait to get back there. I probably have vitamin d deficiency, i definitely have mental health issues that are worsened during winter and when i'm indoors too much. I always get more depressed in winter due to going out less. I also get anxiety. I've also gained weight since being inside more. These are all true to an extent.
Thank you very much sir for giving me such a great advice,i Am also staying in home for a year and i am depressed so much thanks....
