  • Join me on a bushcraft camping adventure as I brave the elements and ride out a thunderstorm in my trusty yellow tent cabin. Located next to a peaceful river, this campsite offers a serene backdrop for a night in the wilderness - but the storm has other plans! Watch as I settle in for the night, start a fire, and try to stay dry amidst the torrential rain and thunder. Let's see if my bushcraft skills can withstand the fury of Mother Nature!"

@@Wildernessquestoutdoors I was a journeyman electrician for about 15 years, I was installing some flood lights on a home, second story soffit mounted. Anyway Im on this ladder and there is a pine tree about 10 feet away, this huge red tailed hawk lands on a branch at the same level as myself. This bird is big, a good 18 inches tall at my eye level, it was the closest I had ever been to a hawk. Interesting side note, I was told years ago by a Shaman that my spirit animal is the hawk. Back to the Hawk story, this hawk is staring hard and bopping his head around looking across the yard, I look to see what he is eyeing, it's a half sheet of blue insulation board ( 4 ft by 4 ft ) on the ground, so I watch. I see it move just a little, so does the hawk. A gust of wind flipped the foam board into the air exposing the squirrel, the squirrel never flinched, sadly for the squirrel his decision not to move brought about his demise, the hawk leaned tucked wings and went into a dive, it was all over for the squirrel. Awesome to see a wildlife adventure right before my very eyes. NatGeo aint got squat on real life.

Just for shits and grins, show these folks who keep telling you to just sharpen the wood dowel and it will be as effective as a dart point, that it will probably be too light weight to penetrate even a plastic jug, let alone an animal hide and muscle tissue. I am thinking the blowgun darts need that extra weight to break the toughness of animal hide. Not to mention the fact a arrowhead will still cut and slice as the animal runs causing additional internal damage. Back in 97 me and my son were home alone one day and a field rat came running across the living room floor from the kitchen, this was an old oil field workers rent house from back in the 20's when the big Conroe Oil Field Boom started. Anyway, we were like WTF? So I grabbed my blowgun and the standard metal wire shaft darts. We put some dry dog food on the floor and waited for the rat to come out from behind the writing desk. It did, it stopped at the dog food, I aimed and fired, KABOOM direct hit. Only it was a little high near the spine, well that rat jumped and flopped for a second then burned off doing a hundred miles an hour back into the kitchen. About 3 months later I found that lil rat in a rat trap, I got my dart back. Obviously the dart wasn't a kill shot.

I fired an old paint brush handle out of my air rifle, and darted several gophers at 25 yards at most. The old black shingle nails were .177 calibre and when I found pellets would not penetrate denim, darts were needed on my Brothers.

@@bradyelich2745 I have fired an arrow out of a .410 shotgun. Had to remove fletchings for it to fit in the barrel, well I didnt hit anything it had no stability past 10 feet. I am astounded you hit anything at 25 yards once, let alone mulriple times with a tiny non aerodynamic brush handle out to a whopping 75 feet and penetrate and dispatch. There would be zero stability, but for the sake of civility, I will test this idea for myself just so I am sure of what I expect from previous experience.

@@kinglouistexas My paint brush dart must have been rightly balanced, smooth bore bb gun, lots of brake fluid in my gun. It was some Czech made air rifle sold at McCloud's in the 1960's. My Dad had it flipped open and I pulled the trigger making him lose a fingernail. I got beat for that stunt. I think the kitchen walls have never been smoothed out...
