Well im fixing to try to build a similar boat but smaller to fit on top of my car... Thank for the ideas...
beautiful, you're avery talented man thank you for uploading
Michael Keevan thankyou very much
Do you have any footage of it floating? would love to see it in the water.
also a follow up video on the seat ferrings and overall seat construction would be fantastic. but no rush. just suggestions 😀
subbed to the channel bro get that thing out on the water as soon as you can man we are all waiting
extr3m3RCblog extr3m3RCblog thanks man I should be doing the extra waterproof soon
Make more videos on the boat man love it and you should definitely do videos of you in it and more reviews
the everything channel thankyou much....yeah I will be definitely taking it out a lot this year....we are just starting to get open water now.....I have a lot of big plans for this year.... Thanks for watching
That's really cool dude keep it up :)
Fibbers Fishing thank you very much
It would cost more but fiberglassing the entire outside of the boat would help with the leaking issue, wood rot etc.
He didn’t want it to cost more.
That sounds hard
@@makyronkingoferidu3016 Wouldn't cost a much more, in the long run. $25 should buy all the fiberglass necessary and it would ensure the longevity of the craft. Good investment, I think.
wow very cool i need to do this
basshound87 thanks
nice looking boat
Addicted Angler thanks I still have some touch ups but it is awesome it held me and my buddy no problem
Maybe you should use Flexseal
cool DIY boat
thank you very much
Looks awesome man, not sure if you did this or not but incase you didnt heres a tip I learned the hard way. Its best to screw from the thin plywood into the thick supports, this is more true the cheaper the plywood. The threads of the screw will grab the 2x4 really well and the head will press the plywood. Ive seen people go the other way and have the plywood come off the thread (including myself, but not on a boat in the middle of a lake thankfully).
thankyou and yes we went into the 2x4s and 1x3s
Very cool broham. I just started building a 32' classic New England style lobster boat. Will take roughly 5 years.
Progress report??
look forward to seeing your finished product and watch you fish out of it ,,Maybe I can send you a lure to try
Thanks for watching! I have done reviews for companies before, I have a review video for baits you can watch if you like. With winter it has been tough to actually fish with the lures though, because of all the skim ice we have been getting! But feel free to contact me through email at sicfishing401@yahoo.com
I noticed you left out the board that covers the 2-foot slant under the nose of the boat? Where the sides are angled... Why was that left out? Also, someone else mentionedhe would like to see the diagram of the seat construction. I'm also interested in that. Would you be able to give us some updates regarding these?
nice channel i subbed
mahimahimagic 88 thank you very much....make sure to enter my giveaway :)
Almost that time of year, itching to get going again!!
Stuff It Sportfishing heck yeah I can't wait for spring. ...thanks for watching
Great video on how to do this I'm going to try this but on the bottom I'm going to try to get rubber rolled Roofing and seal the bottom up with glue and that Roofing and see if it works
thanks very much..and yes i would think that would work fine its pretty much the same as the spray rubber but maybe better stuff..goodluck
my 2nd video has a little better explanation of how it was put together
That's cool man I hope it works out for ya.
BassGeek thanks yeah I wouldn't be surprised because when we tried it out, it was stable just had a small leak we didn't want to chance it
SIC Fishing Hey by the way I showed ya channel some love in my 2016 review video. I hope ya like it.
BassGeek wow great thankyou
On the plans, it states the sides are two feet? There's no way the sides are two feet in the pictures of the boat. So, how deep is it really?
You can flex seal the outside, use a descent caulk on inside joints( try venus seal not painter's caulk) then spray on bed liner the inside.
Ps its a furring strip not fairing
I made the plastic wrap kayak on you tube n flex sealed the whole thing....I use nothing else....and my kayak doesn't weigh anything
build another one 4 x 8 x4 and bolt it to that one have a 16 footer
Did you use marine grade plywood?
If you plan on building one of these, so yourself a favor and brush all your undercoating or sealants on with a brush instead of just spraying things on. You will get a much better seal if you brush it on. It forces the sealant (whatever you choose) into all the cracks and pours so you won't have leaks. and never seal leaks from the inside. Always find leak and seal the wood from the outside of the boat.
nice
Donald Chasejr thanks
+sic fishing cool stuff I might do the same thing
2 feet for the side panel?
Did you bend the bottom to account for the curve in the sides or did you cut on an angle?
the sides were cut on an angle but the bottom was left alone... we soaked the wood with water then bent it to form to the curve then glued and screwed it
can't bolt a motor up to it? Or did u forget to do some cutting?
curious to see how she treats u when u use her ....can't wait to see future video ...what u calling her
+Western Pa Anglers s.s better not sink
Looking
Im soon looking to build bass do you have any plans of the design u made......very eager to build this.. Thanks
you're welcome and thanks for watching! I believe in the video i showed in microsoft paint how we built it and the dimensions of the boat. I also have a 2nd video the is a little more in depth explaining how we did it!
You should make plans and mass produce them so other can do it
Why didnt you polyurethane the wood to keep it from rotting and silicone caulk on the seams and screws?
this was to spend as little money as possible as a budget build so no poly...as for the silicone that was my plan and i am still going to this year..i havnt got around to it since i got my yak. the wood has been sitting outside for over a year and i checked it yesterday it has no rot at all. so the exterior paint is doing fine for now
couse he didn't! why you gotta ask stupid questions?
Silicone sealant isn't recommended for immersion but polyurethane sealant is.
Wht app u ues
Goop two will stop your small leaks.......bed linner paint be better on the bottom.
hey man how did you do the deck thinking of doing this build
hello and thanks for watching. the deck was done after we built the structure and frame.First we cut the side panels and back panel for the frame of the boat.once that was done we used 2x3s to help structure and to have something to glue and screw the panels and floor to. Once that was done we now had 2x3s all around the bottom sides of the boat for structure. Then we did 2x3s all around the topsides of the boat sitting like 2 inches from top for the seats and deck to sit on to and be screwed into place.then we measured out the deck, cut it and installed it....then we did some vertical 2x4s to hold it up. I f you read this then watch video again you should get a good idea of what I am saying . IF not let me know and I will try and make another video better explaining/showing what we did.
SIC Fishing Thanks for the quick reply I rewatched the video and did understand what you were talking about. a follow up vid would be great I think it would be beneficial to alot of people. I subscribed to your channel and hope to be trying this build over the summer. do you think the front end would hold up the installation of swiveling boat seats?
awesome i am glad you understood, yes i will definitely make another in depth video on the construction this week or next, i realize now that i rushed the first video due to lack of time. and yes it would definitely hold a swivel seat i just recently helped a friend build a frame and deck with swivel seats and door and its very similar to mine.I have been doing construction work for over 10 years so its nothing new to me!
What's the weight rating on that bottom? I'm looking to build this, but I'm a 6'7 tub o' lard and that half-inch plywood looks like it won't take much to bust through.
EDIT: Nevermind; I just took a look at a piece of 1/2in, and it'll be fine.
Honestly I'm not sure but I'm thinking because your weight will be distributed a bit you would probably be fine.... I do know it will hold like 300+lbs though we had two guys at 160 plus gear once before
@@sicfishing401 I'll risk it. Heck, it's affordable enough that I might make two...one of each thickness.
Thank you!
If you bust thru a piece of 1/2" plywood, you are not from this planet and need to return home (and lose some weight)
How is it holding up?
i havent used it more then once but it is sitting in the elements of nature and is sill in same shape as when i built itt..i check on it every now and then
Silicone sealant is not recommended for leaks. Polyurethane is recommended.
thanks for the advice , at the time of building i was trying to keep it under a $100 for all the material, But since then i have fixed the leaks with waterproofing for tile showers and plaster tape (had leftover stuff from a job)
@@sicfishing401 You're welcome.
Put it on saw horses and pour a gallon of paint inside let it sit and repeat no more leaks
cool idea, i wonder how well it would hold
Hey, man. I made a boat mostly based on this design. Was gonna put up a vid talking about it. Do you care if I put a link to this vid in my description?
What type of plywood?
i used normal plywood i was on a budget...the boat is still good though...i would use pressured treated water resistant wood if possible but it is more expensive
When you moved you should take it with you it's still her
anyway you can give me the blueprints for that boat
5:39 i explain it and show the layout the best i could i also have a part 2 video explaining the build better
This is a comprehensive collection of 518 boat plans, 40 videos and about 500 pages of boat building guides. dld.bz/mycollection
ToddZilla Hmmm...this was a comment from 6 months ago. Right around the time certain middle schoolers were on spring break.
Meaning...do your parents know youve been trolling on the family laptop?
Dimensions and shape are ok, but using regular plywood is a mistake. If you won't protect it against water you will build another one for next season
"Trust me rabbit is good rabbit is wise"!
Oops wrong channel
That doesn't look 2 ft tall
how much does it weigh?
probably around 120-140
Put flex paint on it
you want the boat in the water the wood swells n helps seal boat for you
How heavy?
a little heavier then expected and thats why i dont take it out...but we have put it on top of a car so its not to heavy...i owuld think about making it 3x8' instead of 4x8...i would say it weighs like 125-150
noone asked for a rude response ..take your negativity elsewhere! have a great day!
Your junk toddzila
ToddZilla The only junk here is the set you like puttingnin your mouth.
Should have showed it being made and being used on the water.
Hahaha you’re more skilled than me! I’m dropping you a sub for this and can’t wait to see more videos. Hit me back when you get the chance
haha thanks for watching and the sub! i hope to have some videos fishing off it this year! she floats well just a little heavy for a cartopper
I googling how to build a boat out of plywood here on CZcams and all I got was his give me people that are already built boats it's trying to stop individuals like yes from learning how to build
This is a modified version of an English punt.
That's a $1,000 boat nowadays
I've been dying for a good video like this! Great job! I subbed your channel! Could you maybe come check out my channel? Hopping to make sick fishing videos next spring!
awesome to hear man...it words well if you were to make one i would make it 3x8 instead of 4x8 like i did..its a little heavy for 2 people but can be done...if you take that extra foot off it will lighten it up a bit
There are several factors in doing a pro job. One place I found which succeeds in merging these is the Denelle Boat Builder (google it if you're interested) definately the best info that I have ever heard of. Check out this awesome website.
thanks for leaving that info!
Woodprix plans are amazing!
This is not a how to
