  • My favourite adventure bike tyre the Mitas E07+
    I hope you enjoy my tyre review on this great tyre, first time I've used them both front and back.
    I pushed the bike to its limits, on the trail, road, mx track pretty much anywhere I would take my KTM 1290!
    I hope you enjoy this video,

    I’m supper impressed with the EO7+ tyres. I have a 2nd hand Honda CB500X (2020 model) That came fitted with the EO7+ tyres front and rear. I rode the bike for another 9000 Kms after I bought it. As far as I can tell the rear tyre would have had at least 18 to 19,000 Ks on it before I had to get it replaced with the same tyre just the other day.
    Whilst it neither perfect at on road or off road, it’s still a brilliant all rounder of a tyre.! 👍🏼

    This is what I call a review. Thank you so much. 👍 If anyone has tried Mitas E07 (50/50) tires, I would love to hear about their maneuverability and cornering stability.

    • @jamesfairmind2247
      @jamesfairmind2247 Před rokem +3

      They are totally brilliant. On my 21 690 I have scrubbed all the hero blobs off front and rear. Now I have the E07+ on the rear which is a better all round off-tyre but it grips fantastically on the road. I agree with Chris Birch when he says "these are not 50/50 tyres but 80/80 tyres."

    • @DJJellenak
      @DJJellenak Před rokem +2

      @James Fairmind tnx😊. I'm not sure which one to buy for the rear E07 or E07+.
      I need tyre 120/90-17, but E07+ exists only in dimensions 130/80-17. :/
      And I am not a fan of changing sth that smarter people than me defined :)
      So I can buy E07 120/90-17 or E07+ 130/80-17.

    • @jamesfairmind2247
      @jamesfairmind2247 Před rokem

      @@DJJellenak These are my thoughts, assuming you need the extra off-road ability of the EO7+ over the E07, then talk to a tyre expert and see if you can use the 130/80-17 so you can use the EO7+. I expect that you can but if for some technical clearance reason you can't, then the EO7 is still a fantastic tyre and if you are more road biased, it will give you more mileage due to the central strip. It just stops being really grippy off-road around 3500 miles on a 690 but still OK ish to get you through. It just depends what kind of riding you mainly do and how dry, wet or sandy etc. Ultimately both bloody good tyres.

    • @DJJellenak
      @DJJellenak Před rokem

      @jamesfairmind2247 I thought E07 has better off-road ability than E07+
      No, not send, just road and little bit of off-road.
      I thought E07+ is better for road and that it has better cornering ability because it has more rounded profile.

    Fitted a set of these EO7+ (non-Dakar) to my SuperTenere with plans to do some off road after crossing the NUllabor enroute to Melbourne from Perth but time constraints kicked in and it became a 9 day highway trip over and back. It was hot out on the Nullarbor on the way over, and I had rain in Melbourne when leaving, and despite my feaqrs they coped quite well in the wet urban environment. Got back to Perth with plenty of mileage left in them despite the heat and my load (full camping equipped). Formed dirt road performance was never a cause for concern, though I didn't do a lot. Would fit them again, also to my T7.

    Top video review, well done, I was particularly impressed by the front end performance. I have these on my 690, amazing on the road and a lot better off road than I could possibly have predicted. Be cautious if you fit the Dakar version re wet performance on tarmac. I have heard they can be very dodgy, designed for high temperature desert racing, very stiff sidewalls.

I have seen a review that mentions the Dakar is not the best on wet asphalt. I have recently ridden 4000 kms through Morocco, including some in the south of Spain and Portugal. In dry conditions on asphalt, soft dirt, gravel, rocks and loose stones they performed well. Also they are giving good mileage.

    I run have run the E07 and plus on my 1190r. The best combo I have found is a E07 plus on thr front for better corner feel and a std E07 on the rear for better traction in the gravel. Currently have a set of E07 plus Dakars on after a trip to the Cape last year, over 10000 km on them so far. The rear is getting down and only a little bit of wear on the front.
    The the harder rubber compound in the Dakar is noticeable in reduced grip in the wet and at lower temps, and the additional side wall stiffness is noticeable. I don't think the Dakar are an advantage unless you need the puncture resistance or the long km wear. I'm wondering if the E10s might be the go.
    Love the videos, keep them coming.

      Firstly thanks for watching and your input in the comments, I love the feedback!
      Traction control I'm not much of a bitumen guru so I never push the 1290 real hard to where the TC is a factor, however in the dirt, as I'm a motocrosser, I hate it! Generally I just ride in Street Mode nearly everywhere, I've tried the off road mode but the power is still regulated by the right hand! Pressures, if I'm doing a road only I'll run high 30's, off road if I could be bothered I may drop them to 30 psi. However, in June this year I'm doing the Simpson Desert, and yes I'll vlog it, I'll drop to mid 20's for the 600km of sand dunes and Desert! Thanks again! I actually just bought a Oxford Montreal 4.0 jacket, I figure if it's designed and built in the UK it has to well and truly cover me here in Oz!

For someone with better off-road skills they are probably fine - but I just don't have confidence in them on dry loose gravel. and find them no better than the Metzler Tourance tyres they replaced for that application. I'll probably go back to a more road orientated tyre and just plod along nice and slow on the off-road stuff next time around and enjoy the better mileage and grip in the wet the Tourance and similar tyres offer.
