      That’s kind of the norm in the cruise industry. You want to tip additional, more that’s really appreciated by the staff. Typically these crew are contracted to stay on board for months. Food and quarters either come out of the pay or part of the pay and hence a lower take home amount. That built in tip gets split among all crew including ones you don’t see. When you tip the housekeeping and the wait staff, it’s gravy for them. Tip if you want, but there are guys like the ones who just process trash, deal with dishes, or run the washing machines who don’t get much.

    On advantages of booking shore activities thru the cruise line: this was a different cruise line but still applies. Cruising the Mediterranean last year occurred while I was still recovering from a leg injury. We booked accessible excursions which mostly worked out. However in Malta, I was the only one using a mobility assist device, and functionally the other participants were walking briskly and without apparent limitation. So my companion and I got left behind in most of the locations and missed pretty much everything. The tour company could not care less, but the cruise line was appalled. They refunded our cost back to the cruise credit account in full.

    Great tip about the ride share and taxi!! Definitely negotiate the price up front!
    Also, my last Disney cruise left me stinging. I have been on 15 Disney cruises so I am not a newbie. I ordered a scotch neat at a bar, I probably should have specified but I was thinking more along a Johnny Walker price, but I was giving the Top, Top shelf scotch at 85 dollars for a pour. It was damn good scotch, but ouch!! I will be much more specific next time.

    I don’t know about Disney but I assume it’s like all the others get an excursion with Disney. They guarantee you to get back on the ship so even if the bus has a flat tire or gets in an accident, the ship will wait till you get back if you’re on a Disney excursion, that’s kind of what you’re pay for the extra money. if you use a third-party, there’s no guarantee.
    If it’s at all dangerous to get off at the port, they’ll just skip it

    • @mrlogboy
      @mrlogboy Před 5 měsíci

      @@littyravioli8039 the title implies or infer that Disney Cruise lines are going to scam you or are out to Scam you. The title should have been scams to watch out for why I want a Disney cruise or any vacation. Near the end of the segment, they said these are not technically scammed, but they feel like scams. if you decide to go on a Disney cruise the cruise and then decided to do your research you did it in the wrong order. There are tons of good websites for where you can find out all your information ahead of time paying for luggage on an airplane is a scam, changing of the time sadly. As for excursions everything they said is correct other than mentioning viator for Europe, and for Alaska, you contact the excursion companies directly. on my last skin cruise, we went to what 34 ports all of the excursions were 60% Disney Cruise people with the sticker on their chest and for the last port where we went on a crab boat, 30 families had stickers on their chest and two couples did not in Alaska, you don’t have to worry about getting back to the boat on time because you usually going to be an excursion full of Disney people> Caribbean. I can add that other Disney bloggers have commented on CZcams and CZcams suggest things to do and say so things with food are very popular. I’ve been told by watching and sadly it’s going to be Clickbait because they’re trying to get new people who don’t religiously watch them and subscribed.
      All in all, it was a very good article and everybody needs to follow it research research research and research includes going to CZcams as well as many other places keep up the good work

      @mrlogboy Před 5 měsíci +1

      Off-topic to this video, but they didn’t mention it is to do with the loyalty points. Disney sucks and I consider that a scam most other cruise lines will do it based on days so some will do three days as one or whatever.. if I was using another cruise line, I would essentially have about 12 points by now instead of only three because I enjoy the longer cruises because I pretty much live as far away as you can on the 48 continuous states from Florida lol

    • @alexanderpontier540
      @alexanderpontier540 Před 5 měsíci +2

      It’s only minorly clickbait-y. They start off with actual scams to watch out for, then down to scams that could happen on cruise trips and then the last are just legal “scams” Disney pulls. At the end of it, these are all good things to watch out for with cruises.

  • @markthompson6139
    @markthompson6139 Před 5 měsíci +5

    For first timers, gratuities can seem like a scam. As other posters have mentioned, food and drink gratuities are auto added at 18%, so if you dont see that and tack on an additional 18%, your generosity may feel led astray. But that doesnt stop at food and drink. The “free” kids clubs have an auto gratuity for the counselors for each child participating in the club at around $20-30 a day. The small world nursery does as well on top of the price paid per hour. You may not notice this until your itemized bill. So for those not realizing that this will be a fee you should expect, it can indeed feel scammy. Notice I am not saying that the counselors do not deserve or earn this money, just that not realizing before hand that it isnt baked into the already expensive front charge feels like Disney is scamming a bit off the top.

    REGARDING PORT SERVICES. Know where you are and where you are going. True Story. Thank God it was not me. Newly married couple on a cruise through the Caribbean (not disney but reputable).. Got a cab and said BEACH, French Island. Swimsuit optional beach. Couple decided they did not know anybody and would never see them again (before cell phones) so they chose to partake in the option. Biggest issue. Sunburn where the sun don't normally shine. Pain was not horrible but uncomfortable. The best part for the rest of us....Pealing days. Itching and peeling was incredibly uncomfortable for the couple. Hysterical for the rest of us. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU ARE ASKING FOR.

    • @mindyschocolate

      They have no casinos. You may pay less on Carnival, but you’re still giving them the balance at their casinos anyway. Disney has free room service and you don’t have to pay for a soda or water package (I can’t believe the other ships charge you for soda for typical drinks). You also don’t get nickel and dimed to death unlike RC, and their kids clubs and entertainment are superior to the other lines. You get what you pay for. Carnival is known as “Walmart of the seas” for a reason.

    The title "Disney Cruise Line SCAMS" is somewhat unfortunate. I would never dream of criticising DFB or Disney Cruise Line itself, and I'm sure the information prsesented is as accurate as DFB can make it. But if you encounter "nobody told me I would have to pay for this" situations, it may feel just the same as a scam, and this is what DFB is trying to help you avoid!
    It only makes sense to learn as much as you can before comitting to pay for a cruise, and this is why you would do well to work with a Disney-affiliated travel agent, or one you have worked with before and have complete trust in. I would not suggest booking even a Disney cruise without working with such a travel agent.
