Thanks for all the love! This video also features Shan Padman (guest vocals at the end), who is a subscriber, and also a friend now, that got in touch after I asked for Indian singers. He was a bit afraid of being turned into a meme, so please, share some love and encouragement with him as well! Thank you all so much, it's amazing to know that any temporary change of content style is well recieved. I'll always be back to what I used to do, but at this moment, India metal is giving me a lot of joy.
Looking forward to discover and remix more awesome music around the globe. Please send me some suggestions to my email if you find anything interesting.
Bro this was some of the most fire music I have ever heard. So absurd. I blasted this thing when going down the road. I have people turning their heads. It's great.
I would pay a lot of money to see all this live.
I enjoy the India Metal very very much, I would love more of this content

Well I guess it is meme in the original sense of memetic theory: Elements of culture spreading, reproducing, and evolving like genes.

As many of you already know, these women sing sufi (spiritual songs) and there is space even in the smooth sufi singing to let some steam out - the singers are often overcome with the tempo of the lyrics - hence the headbanging. Many from the audience often go into a trance like state too.
At metal concerts that trance like state is know as a mosh pit full of people head banging.

@@mattpatt199 He said the Nooran sisters are much better than a bloke screaming himself hoarse, not that metal singers are talentless bums with no technical chops or knowhow. Don't think he necessarily even implied that metal singers are all just voice-wrecking screamers.
You're right though, of course, that many metal singers have excellent control of their voices. Many lose their capacity to scream though, which sucks. Look at Serj from System of a Down, or Brent from Mastodon. Even Billy Corgan - his screams in X.Y.U. were great. I know they _can_ scream still, but they have to be extremely careful now and do it very sparingly. You rarely hear them do it.

The sister are singing in a Sufi style taught to them by their father, its over a thousand years old! The closest we can get to god is by worshipping through pray like this apparently.
it's so kind and heartwarming to see several people in the background of the Nooran sisters helping with their clothing falling while singing, helping move their equipment and clearing their space so they can only worry about singing. I really liked it!!

I'm Indian and thoroughbred listener of metal and Indian classical music, the combination of these two are immaculate, I hope one day metalheads will realise what next big thing can happen if these two genres of musicians came up together. This is what I'm waiting for, some of indian raagas are perfectly fit for prograssive death metal.
Couldn’t agree more. I’ve spent the last few decades enjoying both metal and classical Indian music for their incredible musicianship. Was fortunate to see Pandit Ravi Shankar several times in the 90’s in between Metallica and Pantera shows.

According to my understanding "Jugni" in sufi poetry is the female physical manifestation of someone's enlightened spirit. In poetry "Jugni" is faced with wordly worries and desires and experiances the hustle and bustle of life and tempted by materialism, but she rejects all that. She acts and responds in a way that provides you with guidance, drops wisdom pearls, sometimes is desperate herself for guidance from the spiritual master and provides an example to follow; if you yourself want to become enlightened i.e become jugni yourself.
The hook in this song is "Jungi kehndi aye" which means " That's what Jugni says (/would say)" The verses describe the materialism that this world is drowned in and Jugni is saying that you have to reject it.
And that's the icing on the cake, my friend. Wonderful background info. Thank you!
Thank you! Your explanation of what the song is about is what i was browsing the comments section for.
Thank you kind stranger for the explanation
The line that fascinated me the most was in the first verse " Even the water you drink has to come from the sky!!"... Very dense meaningful line, as all water in existence infact comes from the sky in the form of rainfall at some point, but that is not good enough for you it has to be labeled "Mana from heaven" (water from sky) before you feel happy drinking it....
I love this deep insight into the song!

That's sufi music, performed Qawwali styled. This style has existed for over 400 years now. Sufism arrived in India some 700 years ago from Central Asia. Sufism was deeply influenced by Central Asian shamanism, so despite being a branch of Islam, it incorporates certain non-Islamic elements. For example going into a trance-like state while performing music(much like modern metal), head banging and swirling dervishes. You can say this is the oldest form of metal.

I wonder if these sisters know how incredibly metal they are. Because they are on another level of metal.
Words almost fail me. Andre says Indian metal gives him joy. It gives me and vast numbers of others joy too. Yet again, I find myself saying he has surpassed himself. This is truly a wonderful track. It’s a work of art. It put me in a frenzy at the end like the sisters. It almost turned me into a whirling dervish. This Indian metal genre that Andre has single-handedly created is incredible. It almost seems as if it was meant to be. The two genres go together so well. This track should be an international smash - as should the others.
I agree it's amazing, but he didnt single handedly create this genre. It actually already existed. Check out the band Bloodywood.

You know whats funny, I notice the same thing with Die Antwoord and the metal version of Fatty Boom Boom. When I listen to anything by Die Antwoord, it doesn't click for me, even the Fatty Boom Boom song. But, put some riffs in there and a heavy beat, and it kinda lets you see what they're actually doing with their rhythms. I don't know if they're working with silent syncopated rhythms or what, but you put it up against a solid grid of metal riffs and drums, all the complexity kinda pops out. And its the same thing with these Indian sisters. You still can't tell what they're doing, but it sounds insane. And I think thats why it sounds so good. Its like being successfully fooled by a magic trick.
How do you rock so hard sitting down? Incredible!
