I don't have the reference about the audio but I'm pretty sure you could use electric kettle, and if not just use the microwave, hot water is hot water, there is no "blasphemy" about boiling water in the microwave
If you use a microwave to heat water it could created superheated water and burn you en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superheating
