My mother Tabassum Ji got the chance to interview Suresh Oberoi early on in his career - here's the rare archival footage from over 42 years ago where the actor talks about the struggle he endured before he could find success, having worked in radio and as a model. He however wasn’t successful as a lead actor and stuck to supporting roles. Here’s his life’s story

He really had a good voice, and a he was a model in his time still remember his lifeboy commercial and also his some notable work in Tezaab, Ek Baar Phir, Aitbaar, and now the latest Animal

I first noticed him when he used to come in theatre commercials. Remember Tonus 7 syrup?? 😊. Then in kaala patthar in the ship scene. Then Ek baar Phir (1980) he made an impact with Shradhanjali (1981) which was indeed was a scary role. In Mazdoor & Coolie both of 1983 he gave stellar performances as a dignified villain.

Because Pakistan had no existence before partition which everybody knows.
Everything came under India.
Thus technically Suresh ji is purely Indian.

It's only after the partition that things became like this. I think that's why it's called 'partition' after all, isn't it?
The area which is now Pakistan came under the Punjab state of India, while Bangladesh came under the Bengal state of India.
Mass migration and mayhem, extreme bloodshed took place in an overnight. People who were understanding and unassuming, loving, peaceful neighbours belonging to all the religions turned hostile just like that! As if someone had switched a button somewhere...

Suresh Oberoi was an actor who could do justice to any role offered to him, a young lover boy,
a villain, a character actor, second lead role, he portrayed each character beautifully on the silver screen.
He had all the characteristics that a good actor possesses, his personality, his style, his voice were all unique.
