      Yeah, i don’t understand when people say 80s & 90’s, also 00’s were decent quality hair !!!! I think it’s 2010’s when the quality started to decrease, and it angers me cause in the 2000’s I was already a teen and free to buy any Barbie like I’m doing nowadays, I really had to wait until 2019 to buy my 1st Barbie ?!? I was shook at the hair quality these days but I still love all the Barbies I’m buying now, but I can’t help but think MY DECADE for buying Barbies should’ve been the 2000’s 💯, when I was a teen flower babe and when they created the best Barbies !!!! that was literally the decade for me !! Like all those Barbies were probably waiting for me to be picked up in like 2007/2008 and i was just whining at how I wasn’t a muscled straight male OMG

    I had an American Idol doll from an eBay haul a while back and iirc they had such bad articulation, I think it was only the arms that moved and the legs were unmovable. I took the head off to customize and threw the body where it belonged. The skip.

    i am actually so annoyed at what mattel has done to barbie. like, what is their excuse? Cheap crappy hair, painted on and molded clothes - those are literally the two things kids like the most about the dolls just taken away. But the thing that i think really really shows how pathetically cheap they are is the whole not extending the pattern all the way to the back of the clothes. Seriously, just HOW cheap can you get, i just can't.... i'm so annoyed lol

I got that red dress in a thrift store grab bag of barbie clothing and I used it to dress a Draculara doll I also found at a thrift store. The combination isn't half bad and after taking the underskirt off of the dress, it gives me an winter vibe.

But when it comes to the Dreamtopia line, I really, really like my 17 inch Dreamtopia Endless Hair Princess Barbie. She's posable, fun to dress, and she has a nice facial expression. I have the one with a cocoa complexion, and I really enjoy her. The only thing I wish I could change about her is the streak of purple in her long, dark hair. Thank you for making this video, Joey. When I was a kid, despite loving my 90s dolls, I was very aware that their were lower quality than my mom’s 60s dolls (who I was allowed to play with occassionally, under supervision.) Those 60s dolls had lifelike hair and so many tiny accessories, and their clothes were so intricate, like real clothes in miniature. My dolls were all polyester and velcro, while my mom’s dolls had zippers, lining, real pockets, mixed materials, even teeny tiny clothes tags. It’s sad to see that things have fallen so much further that my dolls are now a high point.

They are sturdy, with no loose parts to loose in the pool and therefore there will be no bereft six year old who is sobbing hysterically because she can’t find her Barbie’s tiara. Not the most Collector friendly dolls but my daughter immediately loved her mermaid and asked if she could sleep with her and Barbie is now a fixture in the bathtub. It also keeps her occupied and away from mommy’s fancy custom doll collection XD

    Gotta respectfully disagree with you about Nori from Mermadia and the American Idol Barbie. I actually appreciated Nori's 'stumpy' tail because unlike my other mermaid dolls, it never broke after taking her swimming with me countless times. And although her torso was curved, American Idol Barbie had a microphone she could actually sing into, so I made her the famous singer my other dolls would watch in concert. Lots of good memories with those dolls 💞

    Yeah, I keep wondering why Bob Mackie keeps getting selected to design Barbie outfits...What, is he sleeping with half the Board at Mattel? I don't care that he is a Fashion Legend. It's clear he doesn't know how to design for Barbie. As for my choice for worst: I wouldn't say they are the worst. I think most of the Holiday (Christmas) Barbies are bad. You spend so much more for them and the doll is OK, but not great. The dress, or outfit, is rarely good and only sometimes pretty. To spend that much on a Barbie and get..."well it's nice"... is not acceptable.

    • @c.w.2000
      @c.w.2000 Před 2 lety +6

      I’m pretty sure Bob Mackie hasn’t done a Barbie with Mattel in 10 years, so he doesn’t “keep getting selected”. He was a big name in fashion and Barbies 20+ years ago and designed some lovely (for the taste of the time) high-end Barbie Collector dolls. I think his Christmas dolls fell flat because he is usually extravagant, and they are the lowest-priced dolls he designed. I don’t think he knew how to work within those constraints. I disagree that he doesn’t know how to design for Barbie: some of his dolls are the best ever made by Mattel. Again, tastes have changed over time, but the fabrics, sequins, and embroidery are amazingly detailed and high-quality.

    I have collected Barbies for years and the quality of recent dolls (even the expensive "collector dolls" are so cheaply made). I've learned if the box is flimsy and cheap then expect the same from the doll inside.
