You can design your own spray camera/box with openings for dust/odour suction. As well as turning tables for placing parts. HBD by the way!
Thank you for the spray booth concept ideas. Will have to think about how we could make a collapsible booth with sufficient airflow for the paint fume extraction without it taking up the whole workshop.

@@AribaboxI made a sanding dust extractor with a drop for heavier particles and overhead extraction for finer particles. It was sort of box-in-box with common hvac filters between them, and 2 box fans for the air flow.
It works great as long as the parts aren't too big to fit, but it's no good for painting. I mean, it does a fantastic job, but the paint overspray destroys the filters very quickly. When only sanding parts, I can vacuum the filters and continue using them.
Let me know if this design is interesting to you. If I were doing it again, I would just build it as a downdraft table with baffles before the filters.

why not just using a wedge locking system that can slide into the holes of the joint. Could be a fun thing for kids to do as they could then build their own new desk and would teach them some simple mechanics.
We've considered incorporating a wedge locking system into the joint cutouts, but we found that it significantly impacts the visual aesthetics of the design. However, we appreciate your suggestion, and it's indeed a fascinating idea that could potentially make building desks more interactive, especially for kids.

How well will it handle rough play? Even with the reinforcements I still can imagine a scenario that will en up with broken fingers :(
That's a valid argument. Even though the joinery is sturdy after adding the reinforcements, this particular set probably wouldn't be the best option for kids under 3 or 4 years old.

Dude what's your recipe to get that full depth of cut first shot? Looks like a clean top so I'm assuming a down cut or compression bit? I like the videos but I think a bit of added sweetness overlay over your video the feed rate and depth of cut. etc. Otherwise great project!
There is no secret - just using a straight flute bit (2 flutes) at 25k rpm and 4000 mm/min feed rate for a 12 mm sheet. (4500 mm/min for 9 mm sheet, and slow down for 15 mm sheets)

Really like how you've incorporated the 'tabs' and structural parts into the design! Makes for a really neat style. I might actually try something similar to this on my miniatures using a laser cutter. I'm just about to update a 1:64 furniture collection design and this got me thinking about stylizing the regular little square tabs to improve the design :D

You are correct - the joint is mostly for appearance.
It gives a playful touch to the furniture design and by extension to the kid's room.
why do you not use wedge Pegs?

I like the project and the idea of the joints. But you do not like wearing any masks when you are sanding, right? You are still young. I believe your lungs are surely capable of handling all that wood and paint dust. It will not do you any harm, right?… 😜 No kidding: Please wear a mask filter when sanding and such. For your own sake. 😷👍 ☑️
