The reason it is unfair to compare Diana to Lisa Gerrard is that Diana is in a completely different league. By virtue of her huge range - which extends from mid-bass (C3) to three half steps above the soprano's high C (D#6) - the sheer beauty and richness of the colours and resonances of the various voices she can employ as needed, her extreme emotional intensity, and the extraordinary versatility by which she is able to give benchmark performances across a wide range of different genres - it is already clear that she is one of the most gifted vocalists of the recorded era.
Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003. On September 25, 2021, a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!” premiered and Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old at the time. Now, in 2021 she is 18 for the new “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition and one of Diana’s performances was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”. First, a little background; in 2017 when she was 13 years old, Diana’s vocal range was first measured and her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 (lower alto range) to a high of A5 (upper alto range), which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl. The following year, in 2018 Diana was 14 years old and a contestant on a singing competition call “You Are Super”. Also during the 2018 “You Are Super” competition Diana also performed her cover’s of the following songs: 1. On February 10, 2018 “Rechenka”, a Russian folk song, sung in her native Russian language. 2. On February 10, 2018 she performed “Dernière Danse”, sung in French. 3. On April 14, 2018, "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" sung in English and 4. And on May 25, 2018, her performance of "Tomorrow is a Lie", also sung in English. May 25, 2018 was the “You Are Super” competition finale and Diana Ankudinova was declared the winner. The “You Are Super” 2018 season had many vocal professionals saying Diana was already displaying a low, deep, rich, round, and mature sound, that was well beyond her years, plus her stage presence was well beyond what most 14 year old’s were capable of. Many, but not all, vocal professionals were speculating based on her Rechenka and other performances, that she could be a true Contralto in the making. She also had very good vocal control for a 14 year old, and her musicality was also noticed by many performance professionals. The following year, Diana was 15 years old, when she was invited to return and compete in the 2019 season of “You Are Super”, based on her wining the 2018 “You Are Super” season. The 2019 season of the show was called a super-season because it was mostly of winners and finalists from previous season, and as the 2018 winner, Diana Ankudinova was invited back, and as an aside, no one was prepared for the sound she exhibited during her performance of Wicked Game which had many vocal professionals saying she was now a Contralto. Diana also won that 2019 superseason of the “Your Are Super” competitions. She also sang the following songs: 1. "Blizzard" on April 21, 2019 and 2. "Human" on May 26, 2019 (The Super - Season finale). During past interviews, Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so after winning back to back seasons of the “You Are Super” competitions, she decided along with her voice teacher to concentrate extensively on developing and improving her upper vocal range, because a female singers vocal range helps in determining and defining her voice type. Now, let’s get back to Diana Ankudinova and this performance which took place 2 years after winning the “You Are Super” super-season. On September 25, 2021 during the inaugural season of a new Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn!", Diana was 18 years old during her cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love”. She showed what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14 years old, that based on Diana’s previous vocal competition’s, and concerts, she has now developed into what many believed she always was, a true Contralto voice type, and for those that don’t know voice types, a Contralto is the lowest, and deepest type of female voice, and a true Contralto is very rare. Just to be clear, there are 3 recognized Contralto voice types: 1. Coloratura: The Coloratura Contralto contralto has a light, agile voice ranging very high for the classification and atypically maintains extensive coloratura and high sustaining notes, specializing in florid passages and leaps. 2. Lyric: The Lyric Contralto voice is lighter than a dramatic contralto but not capable of the ornamentation and leaps of a coloratura contralto. This class of contralto, lighter in timbre than the others. 3. Dramatic: The Dramatic Contralto, which is what Diana Ankudinova is. During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance. Finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto” voice type, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound. It is the most powerful and is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear. Diana’s vocal range was again measured, during this performance, and her functional range now measures from a low of C3, (male tenor range). Her upper range now measures at B♭5 which is well within the (female Mezzo Soprano range). But, it's not just how low or high she can go, it's the exceptional tone quality of her voice in both her lower and upper vocal ranges. It's all about the roundness, the fullness, depth, and power of her full chest sound, along with her ability to access an enormous amount of resonance that further defines Diana as a "dramatic Contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. One of the most commonly asked questions regarding Diana’s unique voice is, how? How does she do it? How does such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this combination of unique vocal anatomical structures that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure. Diana has also a mastered a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing. Mastering the polyphonic singing technique gives Diana the ability to create 1, and sometimes up to 2 additional tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and can sound an octave, or an octave and a half above. It’s this polyphonic singing ability that can make it sound like more than one person singing which is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some kind of artificial voice manipulation like Auto Tune, or she is using pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off stage in the background. Diana has been accused of lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is NO artificial manipulation of Diana's voice at all, and no one else is singing off stage, nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. What you are hearing in the background is a backing track for the musical score, along with a choir and background singers on a backing tracks that’s used to fill in and round out the performance. Diana Ankudinova, and only Diana Ankudinova is actually singing Can't Help Falling In Love. Now, during the “ShowMaskGoOn!” there was a total of 9 competitors, Diana was competing against 8 other professional singers, Diana being the 9th and last competitor. Diana and the other singer's also doubled as judges for this competition which was televised over nine weeks, one singer per week for the entirety of the 9 weeks. Diana and the other professional singers/judges were competing against each other, and based on their individual performances they awarded judging points to each other. Each week a different singer took center stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks using a different genre of music, and a different style for each song performed. The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row who was the first to stand is a well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in in red, and looks totally lost at the end of Diana's performance. She puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, lost and bewildered. Finally, The Show Must Go On competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total of 9 weeks, and was declared the competition winner!
Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

She was a true dramatic contralto at the age of 14. She is rarer than a unicorn? And it get's rarer still. She is a polyphonic dramatic contralto. How many of those can we find? My guess is one. And then there is the range. How many dramatic contraltos can go as high as she is currently going? My guess is one. Oh, and from her recent performances in the masked singer, russian version, we realize that she can also mimic other voices and create different and unrecognizable tones, so she is also a vocal chameleon. She has THAT voice... but she also has many others. And then there is the projection of her voice, the thundering bellows we see at the end of this piece and in her rendition of Dune. Her voice is strong and clear, like a Contralto Lara Fabian. And then there is the wierd phenomena of the goosebumps, which most people get instantly listening to her songs. So not only does she have all the above charectaristics but her voice also ressonates with the human nervous system somehow. And what about the emotional honesty and intensity she can put in her work? And how she channels something deeper into her singing to the point she goes into a sort of trance, as per her own words? Not to mention her work ethic, to have all these talents and the responsability to diligently develop them. Oh and she composes music also and writes her own songs and plays multiple instruments to some level of competency. My point is she is truly unique. I think she is a voice for the ages, there has never been anyone like her, although I'm sure other unique singers have graced the world (like Caruso for example). But nothing like Diana. I honestly think that like her, the sheer improbability of her mix of talents make her unique and peerless. We are fortunate to see her in her time. I only wish I were a little younger to see her full path, which I hope is a long and successful one. Yes, she is a true Dramatic Contralto. But she is so much more than that. She is one of the most naturally blessed people I've seen in life, although she did pay the price of an abusive childhood and deep trauma. So much light. So much dark. That's Diana Ankudinova, perhaps the most complete female vocalist out there. I hope you react to more. There is a lot more. I would do Rechenka at 14 and the Hans Zimmer Dune theme song cover from two weeks ago next, which will give you perhaps the three most defining performances she has done to date. The thing that amazes me about Diana is the passion, the emotion, that she is able to project. It's very unusual, especially in someone that young and makes me wonder if, along with her other gifts, she is also an empath.
She has been able to do that since she was even younger (think around 13/14 years old) and it really is one of the most remarkable things about her as an artist. Diana is magical. Do yourself a favor and check out her live performance with a live orchestra from last month. On a big stage and a live orchestra they cover the DUNE movie soundtrack in a tribute to Han Zimmer. It's tribal, alien,, powerful atmospheric, and magnificent. I've followed Diana from Texas for many years now. While you can find a singer around every corner, artists like this don't come around all that often.
May i suggest you go back to when Diana Ankudinova was 10 years old as a good start. She performed a one take at a radio station, doing the Beatles song "Oh Darling" There are other songs that Diana Ankudinova performed when she was even younger, but this song to my ears, really shows off her God given talent and of coarse her hard work and dedication Today Diana Ankudinova vocal range is even greater and frankly, unbelievable!! I have to say that was one of the smartest comments I have ever heard and I have watched hundreds of reactions about Diana refusing to compare her to others is absolutely extremely respectful I myself dislike when people compare her to Cher or anyone else for that matter she is of her own I would also recommend before you go any further do a background search of her past it is an amazing story that just adds to her charm. Diana is firmly in the top ranks of the world's vocal arts ..... with her style. And I would call it "Harpoon Ankudinova"... With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! And this "harpoon" is able to carry not only a man, but also a whale into Diana's element ...!!
Isn’t she amazing? There are a number of amazingly talented, unreal singers out there, and I love many of them, but for me Diana is just in a class of her own…there is an unbelievable amount of potential in her that has been there since she was much younger. Check out some performances from 14/15 years old and you’ll see what I mean; you can still notice an unusual lowness and darkness to her voice even back then. The "Queen of Goosebumps" has struck again ;) Mesmerizing, bewitching, magical, trully astonishing. She can channel enormous energies, grab our attention and take us to her world. It's good to see how talent shines when given opportunity in professional enviroment. She already trained her voice even further at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow where she studies, yet she is still super young (20, 18 in this show), and personal experience cannot be exchanged with the very much always needed learning, doing drills after drills after drills (Like Dimash Kudaibergen). Some details of this performance: This perfomance was from the ShowMaskGoon: a TV show on Russian NTV channel where the best/winners of 3 earlier music shows (The Mask, You are Super, Superstar), 9 singers perform 9 songs of 9 categories over the 9 shows/Editions, and vote/judge each other at every Edition's end. So 8 of them (+ the guest) are watching while one of them perfoms on the stage (which not only got interactive background, dancers, etc. etc. but also 2 performance in every show is supported with VR technology, giving full virtual surrounding to the performer), singing live. So Diana was sitting with them when others performed. This gave the young singer (18 here, soon 20) excellent opportunity to try herself in 9 styles during the 9 episodes. Diana has just recently collaborated with the famous movie theme composer Hans Zimmer on his live presentation of the main theme soundtrack from the movie "Dune" with a full backing orchestra. I can almost guarantee that you have never heard anything like it before and it immediately puts Diana as a singer and performer in a class of her own, even more so than this performance.

Often when she does covers, Diana rearranges them into her own incredible and iconic versions, as with this Elvis classic, but with Maybe I, Maybe You she keeps fairly close to the original but still somehow makes you believe it is hers. The reason it is unfair to compare Diana to Lisa Gerrard is that Diana is in a completely different league.
By virtue of her huge range - which extends from mid-bass (C3) to three half steps above the soprano's high C (D#6) - the sheer beauty and richness of the colours and resonances of the various voices she can employ as needed, her extreme emotional intensity, and the extraordinary versatility by which she is able to give benchmark performances across a wide range of different genres - it is already clear that she is one of the most gifted vocalists of the recorded era.

Diana Ankudinova was born on May 31, 2003. On September 25, 2021, a new Russian vocal competition called the “ShowMaskGoOn!” premiered and Diana Ankudinova was 18 years old at the time. Now, in 2021 she is 18 for the new “ShowMaskGoOn!” competition and one of Diana’s performances was her cover of Elvis Presley’s classic, “Can't Help Falling In Love”.
First, a little background; in 2017 when she was 13 years old, Diana’s vocal range was first measured and her vocal range was measured from a low of D3 (lower alto range) to a high of A5 (upper alto range), which was unusually low for a 13 year old girl.
The following year, in 2018 Diana was 14 years old and a contestant on a singing competition call “You Are Super”. Also during the 2018 “You Are Super” competition Diana also performed her cover’s of the following songs:
1. On February 10, 2018 “Rechenka”, a Russian folk song, sung in her native Russian language.
2. On February 10, 2018 she performed “Dernière Danse”, sung in French.
3. On April 14, 2018, "It's a Man's Man's Man's World" sung in English and
4. And on May 25, 2018, her performance of "Tomorrow is a Lie", also sung in English.
May 25, 2018 was the “You Are Super” competition finale and Diana Ankudinova was declared the winner. The “You Are Super” 2018 season had many vocal professionals saying Diana was already displaying a low, deep, rich, round, and mature sound, that was well beyond her years, plus her stage presence was well beyond what most 14 year old’s were capable of. Many, but not all, vocal professionals were speculating based on her Rechenka and other performances, that she could be a true Contralto in the making. She also had very good vocal control for a 14 year old, and her musicality was also noticed by many performance professionals. The following year, Diana was 15 years old, when she was invited to return and compete in the 2019 season of “You Are Super”, based on her wining the 2018 “You Are Super” season.
The 2019 season of the show was called a super-season because it was mostly of winners and finalists from previous season, and as the 2018 winner, Diana Ankudinova was invited back, and as an aside, no one was prepared for the sound she exhibited during her performance of Wicked Game which had many vocal professionals saying she was now a Contralto. Diana also won that 2019 superseason of the “Your Are Super” competitions. She also sang the following songs:
1. "Blizzard" on April 21, 2019 and
2. "Human" on May 26, 2019 (The Super - Season finale).
During past interviews, Diana has said she was not happy with her lack of a higher vocal range, and that lack kept her out of the more prestigious Russian music academies, so after winning back to back seasons of the “You Are Super” competitions, she decided along with her voice teacher to concentrate extensively on developing and improving her upper vocal range, because a female singers vocal range helps in determining and defining her voice type.
Now, let’s get back to Diana Ankudinova and this performance which took place 2 years after winning the “You Are Super” super-season. On September 25, 2021 during the inaugural season of a new Russian vocal competition called the "ShowMaskGoOn!", Diana was 18 years old during her cover of “Can't Help Falling In Love”. She showed what many vocal professionals have been saying since Diana was 14 years old, that based on Diana’s previous vocal competition’s, and concerts, she has now developed into what many believed she always was, a true Contralto voice type, and for those that don’t know voice types, a Contralto is the lowest, and deepest type of female voice, and a true Contralto is very rare. Just to be clear, there are 3 recognized Contralto voice types:
1. Coloratura: The Coloratura Contralto contralto has a light, agile voice ranging very high for the classification and atypically maintains extensive coloratura and high sustaining notes, specializing in florid passages and leaps.
2. Lyric: The Lyric Contralto voice is lighter than a dramatic contralto but not capable of the ornamentation and leaps of a coloratura contralto. This class of contralto, lighter in timbre than the others.
3. Dramatic: The Dramatic Contralto, which is what Diana Ankudinova is.
During the opening of “Can’t Help Falling In Love” Diana’s low Contralto voice is on full display. The improvement to her upper range is also on display during the middle portion of this performance. Finally, the depth and power of Diana’s voice during the final section define her as not just a Contralto, but as a “Dramatic Contralto” voice type, and a Dramatic Contralto has the lowest, deepest, darkest, richest sound. It is the most powerful and is the rarest of the very rare Contralto voice types. At the end of this performance, the full power of her Dramatic Contralto voice is on full display for everyone to hear.
Diana’s vocal range was again measured, during this performance, and her functional range now measures from a low of C3, (male tenor range). Her upper range now measures at B♭5 which is well within the (female Mezzo Soprano range). But, it's not just how low or high she can go, it's the exceptional tone quality of her voice in both her lower and upper vocal ranges. It's all about the roundness, the fullness, depth, and power of her full chest sound, along with her ability to access an enormous amount of resonance that further defines Diana as a "dramatic Contralto", which is the rarest of the rare contralto voice types. One of the most commonly asked questions regarding Diana’s unique voice is, how? How does she do it? How does such a young female singer achieve such a low, rich, deep, profound, and resonant sound? Without actually scoping her vocal tract while she is producing those low notes to physically see what is happening within her vocal tract, the general conciseness of vocal professionals is simply attributing Diana's ability to her winning the genetic lottery. Diana was just born with her unique vocal anatomy. Diana's vocal folds (vocal cords) appear to be longer and thicker than the vast majority of female singers. Her larynx, (voice box), likewise appears to be larger and similarly her pharynx, (throat), also appears to be longer than the vast majority of female singers, plus she has a large oral cavity (mouth). It’s this combination of unique vocal anatomical structures that appears to give Diana Ankudinova the ability to produce the low, deep, rich, and full sounds she is known for, but without actually scoping her vocal track to verify, there is no way to be 100% sure.
Diana has also a mastered a vocal technique known as polyphonic singing. Mastering the polyphonic singing technique gives Diana the ability to create 1, and sometimes up to 2 additional tones at the same time which adds to the harmonic overtones and can sound an octave, or an octave and a half above. It’s this polyphonic singing ability that can make it sound like more than one person singing which is why some people mistakenly believe Diana Ankudinova is using some kind of artificial voice manipulation like Auto Tune, or she is using pitch correction software to alter or adjust her sound. Others believe another person is singing off stage in the background. Diana has been accused of lip-syncing over a previously recorded vocal track that was altered or modified. There is NO artificial manipulation of Diana's voice at all, and no one else is singing off stage, nor is she lip-syncing to a vocal track. What you are hearing in the background is a backing track for the musical score, along with a choir and background singers on a backing tracks that’s used to fill in and round out the performance. Diana Ankudinova, and only Diana Ankudinova is actually singing Can't Help Falling In Love.
Now, during the “ShowMaskGoOn!” there was a total of 9 competitors, Diana was competing against 8 other professional singers, Diana being the 9th and last competitor. Diana and the other singer's also doubled as judges for this competition which was televised over nine weeks, one singer per week for the entirety of the 9 weeks. Diana and the other professional singers/judges were competing against each other, and based on their individual performances they awarded judging points to each other. Each week a different singer took center stage and performed a different song over each of the nine weeks using a different genre of music, and a different style for each song performed.
The ShowMaskGoOn! concluded on November 20, 2021, and during Diana’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” performance, the judge on the top row who was the first to stand is a well known Russian opera tenor, Yusif Eyvazov from Azerbaijan. He was invited to participate as a special guest judge for this inaugural competition. At the end of Diana's performance she receives a standing ovation from all her fellow competitors. One of those competitors is also a well-known contemporary Russian singer, Julia Parshuta. Julia is in the center row dressed in in red, and looks totally lost at the end of Diana's performance. She puts both hands on top of her head, and looks totally shocked, lost and bewildered. Finally, The Show Must Go On competition concluded with Diana Ankudinova being awarded the most judging points over the total of 9 weeks, and was declared the competition winner!

Here are three reasons why Diana (the Queen of Goosebumps) doesn't sound human. First, she is a contralto, which is the absolute rarest type of female voice. It allows her to sing very dramatic/powerful, very (I mean VERY) deep, very dark, very rich. Second, she has a spectacular larynx. She's been called the vocal Eighth Wonder of the World. Third, she is polyphonic, which means she can produce multiple harmonics within her voice at the same time. This is what allows her to sound like two people at once. (more below) When you add all that up you basically get a person who creates her own auto-tune. She doesn't need electronic auto-tune. She IS her own auto-tune. And the effect when you hear her is totally mind-blowing. It's like she's singing right through you, like a sword straight into your soul. Literally NOBODY else on the planet has a voice like hers. She's not one in a million, she's one in eight billion. Having watched well over 100 initial reactions to her, only one did NOT say she was "unique".

This is all true. Diana is undoubtedly a uniquely gifted singer with enormous professional and (which is the most important) life experience.
It is also interesting that Western listeners most often note the technical vocal characteristics of singers. Compatriots first of all look at whether the performer of the song was able to read the meaning of the content of the lyrics. Was the singer able to find his own human relationship to this content and tell the audience the story as his own experience, as his own drama of life.

The most ardent reaction of the Russian public is caused by the singer’s attitude to the deep meaning of the song. Each of the young singers I mentioned had a personal drama behind them that they were able to overcome. Therefore, they were able to sing in such a way that no one remained indifferent.
She was a true dramatic contralto at the age of 14. She is rarer than a unicorn? And it get's rarer still. She is a polyphonic dramatic contralto. How many of those can we find? My guess is one. And then there is the range. How many dramatic contraltos can go as high as she is currently going? My guess is one. Oh, and from her recent performances in the masked singer, russian version, we realize that she can also mimic other voices and create different and unrecognizable tones, so she is also a vocal chameleon. She has THAT voice... but she also has many others. And then there is the projection of her voice, the thundering bellows we see at the end of this piece and in her rendition of Dune. Her voice is strong and clear, like a Contralto Lara Fabian. And then there is the wierd phenomena of the goosebumps, which most people get instantly listening to her songs. So not only does she have all the above charectaristics but her voice also ressonates with the human nervous system somehow. And what about the emotional honesty and intensity she can put in her work? And how she channels something deeper into her singing to the point she goes into a sort of trance, as per her own words? Not to mention her work ethic, to have all these talents and the responsability to diligently develop them. Oh and she composes music also and writes her own songs and plays multiple instruments to some level of competency.
My point is she is truly unique. I think she is a voice for the ages, there has never been anyone like her, although I'm sure other unique singers have graced the world (like Caruso for example). But nothing like Diana. I honestly think that like her, the sheer improbability of her mix of talents make her unique and peerless. We are fortunate to see her in her time. I only wish I were a little younger to see her full path, which I hope is a long and successful one. Yes, she is a true Dramatic Contralto. But she is so much more than that. She is one of the most naturally blessed people I've seen in life, although she did pay the price of an abusive childhood and deep trauma. So much light. So much dark. That's Diana Ankudinova, perhaps the most complete female vocalist out there.

I would do Rechenka at 14 and the Hans Zimmer Dune theme song cover from two weeks ago next, which will give you perhaps the three most defining performances she has done to date. The thing that amazes me about Diana is the passion, the emotion, that she is able to project. It's very unusual, especially in someone that young and makes me wonder if, along with her other gifts, she is also an empath.

Diana is magical. Do yourself a favor and check out her live performance with a live orchestra from last month. On a big stage and a live orchestra they cover the DUNE movie soundtrack in a tribute to Han Zimmer. It's tribal, alien,, powerful atmospheric, and magnificent. I've followed Diana from Texas for many years now. While you can find a singer around every corner, artists like this don't come around all that often.
May i suggest you go back to when Diana Ankudinova was 10 years old as a good start. She performed a one take at a radio station, doing the Beatles song "Oh Darling" There are other songs that Diana Ankudinova performed when she was even younger, but this song to my ears, really shows off her God given talent and of coarse her hard work and dedication Today Diana Ankudinova vocal range is even greater and frankly, unbelievable!!

I have to say that was one of the smartest comments I have ever heard and I have watched hundreds of reactions about Diana refusing to compare her to others is absolutely extremely respectful I myself dislike when people compare her to Cher or anyone else for that matter she is of her own I would also recommend before you go any further do a background search of her past it is an amazing story that just adds to her charm. Diana is firmly in the top ranks of the world's vocal arts ..... with her style. And I would call it "Harpoon Ankudinova"... With this "harpoon" Diana impresses almost everyone from the first seconds ... and attracts the listener, up to the last second of the performance ... And the spectator has only to "helplessly" allow her to pull herself out of the zone of the already familiar world vocal - into the zone of her element ... into the zone of Diana's musical tornado ...! Isn’t she amazing? There are a number of amazingly talented, unreal singers out there, and I love many of them, but for me Diana is just in a class of her own…there is an unbelievable amount of potential in her that has been there since she was much younger. Check out some performances from 14/15 years old and you’ll see what I mean; you can still notice an unusual lowness and darkness to her voice even back then. She already trained her voice even further at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS) in Moscow where she studies, yet
she is still super young (20, 18 in this show), and personal experience cannot be exchanged with the very much always needed learning, doing drills after drills after drills (Like Dimash Kudaibergen).
Some details of this performance:
This perfomance was from the ShowMaskGoon: a TV show on Russian NTV channel where the best/winners of 3 earlier music shows (The Mask, You are Super, Superstar), 9 singers perform 9 songs of 9 categories over the 9 shows/Editions, and vote/judge each other at every Edition's end. So 8 of them (+ the guest) are watching while one of them perfoms on the stage (which not only got interactive background, dancers, etc. etc. but also 2 performance in every show is supported with VR technology, giving full virtual surrounding to the performer), singing live. So Diana was sitting with them when others performed. This gave the young singer (18 here, soon 20) excellent opportunity to try herself in 9 styles during the 9 episodes.
In each round, the participants will be offered nine topics: for example, one will perform a folk song, the second - a song by a Grammy award winner, the third - a rock hit , etc. "
The nine categories are: "People's Hit", "Song of the End of the 20th Century", "Soviet Song", "Hit from Every Iron", "Song of Your Choice", "New Music", "Song from a Movie or Cartoon",
"Rock Hit" and "Songs of the Grammy Award Winners and Laureates".
This song in this first show is for the last category "Songs of the Grammy Award Winners and Laureates".
So in this way it is good she can experience so many cool performances first hand, live, inspired, and also singing 9 songs from different genres will be challenging but rewarding in the long term.

She is singing since little child, auditioned for Voice Kids at age of 13 but got no votes (20M+ views on her Jodel time attempt making it the most viewed audition of any non chosen performer).
Then at age of 14 her "You are Super!" (Ты супер) era started: they made a show for kids with tormented background*, where they made funny, beautiful performances, like sailors dancing around them, etc.
Then Diana entered, with a voice of an Earth goddess. And since the crew was highly professional they did excellent job giving her the opportunity to shine. She took it, won that season (Season 2), and the season 3 (Super Season where the best returned) at age of 15.

Diana has just recently collaborated with the famous movie theme composer Hans Zimmer on his live presentation of the main theme soundtrack from the movie "Dune" with a full backing orchestra. I can almost guarantee that you have never heard anything like it before and it immediately puts Diana as a singer and performer in a class of her own, even more so than this performance.

Yes, the TV show performances will be blocked in the Russosphere unless a filter on the visuals is used. But a mere filter on the visuals will suffice - no need to break or cut the audio.
Note however that this rule only applies to the TV show performances.
The vast majority of the postings on Diana's channels (she has four, the other three being linked to from her main channel) are not of TV performances and so such strictures do not apply to them.
She doesn't invoke copyright. On the contrary, she encourages reactions to her videos.
