This was my first introduction to classical music. We also would play it over & over as children. My favorite was Flight of the Bumblebee. I played this for my son & he fell asleep on my chest listening. I'm smiling now. Thanks so much for posting & letting me be able to share with my child.
same for me. I used to listen to these over and over when i was a kid. As I grew older I'd hear pieces of this music and get excited b/c I'd recognize it from Hooked on Classics.
Wow...I'm so happy to have found this; haven't heard part 2 for nearly 30 years!! I first heard it on the radio; It was my first exposure to classical music and I've loved this music ever since!
I got to liking this music when I was a teen. I knew about the "serious" classics. But this series of music classics really made me want to listen to them. I grew up with opera. Classical music. Light opera. Really anything but rock. Family rules. This is good music.
My mother bought these albums when they 1st were released. I still enjoy listening to them in April 2022

LA MUSICA SIEMPRE TAN INCREIBLE, TAN MAGICA, TAN ASOMBROSA, QUE EXPRESA SENTIMIENTOS SIN NECESIDAD DE PALABRAS, EN TODOS LOS IDIOMAS. ME TRAE RECUERDOS DE MI INFANCIA, DONDE MI ABUELA DOÑA LUPITA PERAZA ALCOCER A DIARIO TOCABA ESE HERMOSO PIANO DE COLA, DE MI SRA MADRE LUPITA NUÑEZ PERAZA, QUIEN FUERA BAILARINA EN LA CIUDAD DE ,MERIDA YUCATAN MEXICO. I remember when this was played on the radio a lot in 1982. It started a revival in the interest of classical music. I always remember the song from Bad News Bears in it.
I am so glad I found this! My instructors at drum major camp had us practice basic conducting patterns to this song, but I couldn't find it anywhere else! But now I have! Yay!
I remember when I was 12 I used to stand in my dads private office while he was at work, I would find this record in his dusty collection, slide it onto the record player, TURN IT UP TO 38 AND AIR-COMPOSE THE SHIT OUT OF IT. By the time I reached 4:10 I would be SWEATING LIKE A SUMO. FELT GOOD MAN.
Louis Clark also was known as the ELO Orchestra's director on records..These were issued on RCA back then (In 1980),but quickly went over to K-TEL,as this was the original distributor of these (P) 1980 K-TEL Records,Inc. being the copyright under the titles,BTW.

Now we'll be driving to the airport to Berlin to listen to * insert famous conductor here* Wife: Driving? Airport? Charles: Oh I kid I kid! No we'll be taking a limo to our private airport and then take our private jet to Berlin! ' Charles and wife laugh all the way to the limo' That joke always made me laugh :D
"Rhapsody In Blue" is United Airlines' song; "William Tell Overture" is for the Lone Ranger. "Beethoven's 5th" was covered by Walter Murphy in "5th Of Beethoven".
