    • @saylitiwaciwin6762
      @saylitiwaciwin6762 Před 7 lety +29

      The goal of the french revolution was not bringing democracy to all Europe but liberalism through the help of Nations (in French 'nation' means a whole of people impelled by their hopes to refuse their rights and their dignity in order to become citizens who share a public, a superior duty)
      The 'Déclaration des Droits de l'Homme et du Citoyen' says just that all human are equal IN RIGHT AND IN DIGNITY, not equal in all so they can be different and think by their own, their rights no longer owned by one (kings at this time but also tyrant, dictator).
      It doesn't mean at any point to oppress one another, it's THE manifesto of liberal ideas (the first meaning! an ideology that promote that all humans must be free to think what's better for their nation (liber = free)) and I agree that these won. Many of our current political movement were embodied in this liberal text which is the birth of our modern world and now all of those human voices are free to speak what they think is better for them (communism, socialism, capitalism, nationalism, anarchism, ... and all the others)
      Also, I think you confused French Revolution (1789-1799) with French Commune of Paris (1870) wich was Marx's inspiration for Communism (the french word 'commune' at this time just meant 'city' so the 'Commune de Paris' just mean the city of Paris and that's how it is still nowadays called in France).
      Democracy was absolutely not the goal of the French in that time, the Enlightens were great fans of Latin and Greek societies and they all knew Aristotle's warnings about Democracy ;-)

      @@saylitiwaciwin6762 I see. The mass beheading of middle class, royals, and scientists is liberalism.

      Exactly, make fun of… Which in itself shows a poverty of reasoning about that war, not just how venerable the French army has been throughout history.The Germans were autocratic state, and France was a democracy, Germany could move quickly and unilaterally and had total conviction in dominating continental Europe in order to establish living space for the bogus brainwashed idea of an Aryan race. . The Germans ramped up mobilisation from the beginning of 1935, whilst the French, Having maintained an army, couldnt mobilise in anyway whatsoever, because that would be political suicide for a political party Not only in democratic France, but also in democratic UK, whose populations were so bitter about world war 1,, that any talk of military mobilisation and consequent spending being taken away from the People's hard-won services, would result in certain defeat that the next general election, if war didn't develop after the mobilisation.Political figures in both Britain and France felt that they couldn't risk mobilising, until it was "absolutely clear" of what Hitler's intentions were.Total Catch-22 situation and it's what left France underprepared, when the German single focused machine descended upon it- This wasn't an Embarrassment for France, 1 has to properly research the effects of World War I to truly understand that it was by far the most shockingly horrific and psychologically damaging war in history - Even the Second World War doesn't compare in the slightet!

And even with all this country, France won major battles. The next time a country will be abble to beat France in one on one will be Prussi... At first it was really only Austria playing the biggest part in the first half of the Revolutionary wars. The British never landed any troops in Europe until 1815. The Prussians only gave minimal support to Austria along with the German states; and Russia did not get fully involved until the third collation at the battle of Austerlitz. Prussia only joined due to a dispute with Hannover, which Napoleon wanted to give to Britain in exchange for peace. It of course was the greatest shock when Prussia lost against France, everyone thought that the Prussians could have defeated Napoleons grand army, especially with having a history of great military achievements and one of the strongest armies in Europe.

The leaders knew of what was coming but they were afraid of the "Front Populaire" huge riots started in 1936 (1929 crash took longer to make its way to France) for higher wages and paid vacation way ahead for that time, and the traitors said it this way "rather Hitler than the Front Populaire" capitalists have no homeland beside money. The country failed miserably mostly afraid of loosing millions of people in a new world war.

    After the decline of its aristocracy, which preffered to spend in pageantry (Versailles, and Louis XV later...), France again became a great power, with the Revolution and Napoleon later. This will allow it to developp its capitalism, like England a little earlier. England, since the end of the 100 years war, was more dependent on its colonial conquests, very soon. France, larger, more dependent on the continental wars to keep its borders.
