I stopped, tears streaming down my face as I crawled across the floor and pressed "Play" on the boombox. This is the song that came on. I cried. I wept. I put down the knife and called 9-1-1. The Barlow girls saved my life.

This song came out the year I lost a boyfriend in a car wreck.I wasn't a Christian at the time so I just thought this was a song that related to how I felt when I was supposed to see him that night but obviously, he didn't make the date. 9 years later as a Christian I know this is totally about God always being there even when we can't see or feel him. Even in our darkest days, he is there.
I think you missed the point of what I said. It was how perspective changes after you become a Christian. I now turn to Jesus in hard times and he provides a lot more comfort than wishful thinking ever did. :)

Things seem like a coincidence or accident or just bad luck without jesus but with him, we know that everything happens for a purpose. with jesus, everything suddenly seems to have a purpose or reason for happening. I have always believed in God but He was just something that was out there. I never had a relationship with Him or never put Him first until about 2 years ago when my life fell apart. I was at my low and cried out to God. I felt,"How selfish of me. Now because I need Him?" I couldn't hear anything or feel anything but I went by faith that He was hearing my cry. I was so broken and just in pieces. I couldn't function and made myself sick. A couple of days later I found this song and man it helped me turn things around. That night when I was crying and just finished listening I felt someone sit down on the edge of my bed and give me a hug. At first I thought it was my husband but when I turned around I knew it wasn't him. I felt this assurance that everything was going to be alright. From that point on I have grown so much spiritually. I actually have a relationship with Him. I don't hear His voice but I know He is there. Thank you Barlowgirl for helping me on my journey! ❤️🙏🏽

I grew up MORMON and it CRUSHED me! Then A Christian at work gave me a 30-day Journal of Christian scripters to read every day that said God was GOOD and LOVING!!! This song was introduced to me from a friend of mine who is Christian. I consider myself to be spiritual. However, hearing this song for the first time had me in tears. I think that anyone can relate to this song because its so powerful. I listen to this song when I think about my brother who accidentally overdosed in 2003. He was just 29. This song makes me feel like he is close to my heart.

2008. Crying because I felt so alone, hated, ugly, etc. 15 yrs old. Friends who I thought were friends weren’t. Being bullied by , boyfriend who thought cared didn’t and hence broke up with me because I quote, “ I’m too depressed since my grandpa died months earlier “. Alone in my room. 3 AM sobbing uncontrollably because I really felt alone and like I had no one. Pills in my hand. Phone under my pillow and believed to be turned off. Asked if He was really there and for a sign. Thought to listen to one more song on shuffle before consuming. This song played. Thought nothing of it. I went to reach for the rest of the pills in the bottle when my phone rang. Loudly. It was my best friend who I didn’t think of. My only friend. True friend. She called and said she just wanted to say hi. Asked if I was crying and of course I said no just woke up. Talked for 5 hours. I’m here today. I believe He sent her. Now I never underestimate. 🙏🏼

The song is about Faith in Jesus. Like a previous post said the guy in the ropes, when he fights it the ropes get tighter, just like in our lives. When we struggle alone with things it gets harder to deal with. But then the guy in the ropes starts having Faith and the ropes go away, so just like when we start actually ask God for help and have the FAITH that he will help us and knowing he will, our lives get easier. Wow I can't believe this was over ten years ago. This was my favourite song for years when I was younger. Bittersweet memories of this band, I tell you.
This song is powerful no matter what your age, race, gender, religion, political view, etc. We've all felt lost at some point in our lives and most of us are able to find ourselves through faith, hope, and support from our loved ones!
Not everyone, 47 n still feel very much alone.
This song sums up everything I've been going through in the past year or so. So many times I wish faith was explained in the context of being unable to perceive God. What we get is meaningless banter about how great it feels to have God around. The truth is, it's hard. But it's worth it. "I hold tight to what I know: You're here."
Thirteen years later and it's still a great song.
If you had only published one song, this song would have been worth it all. The book of Job all in one song. Great job!
Even before I realized this was a religious song I really liked it. The lyrics are really beautiful. I'm atheist, so to me this song represents the time when the person I loved was far away and we rarely spoke. But his words were always in my mind. His advise was always most important to me. When I was alone and felt helpless I'd think of him first.

Now that I'm older I this this song represents something a little different to me. Wheat does it mean to be "Never Alone"? I think just remembering the fact that you are loved by people past and present is enough. A lot of my family is dead now, so they are a part of me now. My memories of them are precious treasures.

Through it all God was there and i could feel His presence in a very real and reassuring way! I came across this song and i helped me and with God`s ever present comfort, endurance, reassurance to keep on keeping on! We are in the palm of His hand and He is there to get us through all things with His strength and power. He will never leave us or forsake us. He shed His blood for us despite our own sin and miserableness. All we need to do is accept His hand and His salvation, we are truly never alone. i wish that Barlow girl would had stuck around a lot longer than they did, these women knew how to rock and spread the word of their faith and all that.
They were decent women, they had decent music and they dressed decent, unlike other women in other rock bands.
Also I am surprised that none of the women in Barlow girl had done a solo album or two.
I truly do wish the Barlow girl would get back together and start making music again, we need a lot more of Christian rock bands today. Most definitely women Christian rock bands, there aren't that many around anymore.
These girls are an inspiration. I met them a few years back and they signed my converse shoe and their holy stance on purity is amazing. God has blessed these women and all of those who have heard their testimony.

When I listened to this as an atheist I heard "I'll all die to what I know" and a sarcastic beckoning "you're here and I'm never alone" I go from atheist to Christian just about every month now. I have several concerns with God. Several. My mind is too open. I can validate or invalidate anything, my imagination and wits are legendary. I'd love to go back to before I touched the bible and be bliss-filled again. Reading the bible always causes me to become delusional now. I’ve been a porn addict for 6 years. As of me writing this comment, ive been fighting this for nearly 2 years. I often wonder why the Lord allows me to remain this way, why He hasn’t freed me. Why He allowed this to separate me from the woman I so dearly loved. Why He allowed my life to take such a horrible turn these past few months. I began to wonder if He picks favorites, because the rest of my friends were living their best life while I was stuck at home, badly addicted to pornography, no car, no education, just a job at a nursing home and a bike to get me there and home. I cried out to Him several times, but I couldn’t hear His voice. I was about to turn my back on the Lord for the 2nd time in my life. Today is Easter. I wanted to go to the service, but I missed it. I was so upset. And then I listened to this song again. “I cried out with no reply, and I can’t feel you by my side.” That lyric describes exactly how I’m feeling. I can’t hear Him, and I can’t feel Him, but deep down I know he’s there. And I know that someday, I will be free from my porn addiction.
