Extramarital affairs is a complex issue. Very often the focus is centered on the 'offenders' and not on the other involved parties outside the fence. Who are these involved parties? E.g. husband, wife, in-laws etc to name a few. The deterrent barriers against extramarital affairs is often eroded and lowered due to issue with husband, wife and in-laws etc. For example, husband/wife may themselves been unfaithful or not playing a good husband/wife responsibility such as neglect (for the case of husband, wife using sex as a ransom to always extract things from him to the point that it became a transactional relationship akin to a hostage taker and victim) and hence the extramarital affair is a tit-for-tat get back at them. We cannot dismiss the 'contributory' factor caused by these other ppl. What I am pointing at is that there may be mitigatory elements in every case which is unique. I am not advocating that extramarital affairs is right because fundamentally it goes down to the more important issue of trust and broken promise of a relationship and not so much the physical thrusting of p*nis into the vag*na and broken hymen for that matter. For such extramarital affairs I hold a more sympathetic attitude rather than an accusing one.

Resignation is too easy for them lah. The better punishment is to make them minister or some directors in newly formed Ministry of Inappropriate Affairs (we have MHA, MFA and now we can have MIA) catching those of like mind offenders. But these Minister and director post only pay like national average salary only. Yeah doing minister work but receiving national average salary. This will make them feel 'no dignity' in front of their other minister colleagues drawing millions in pay. And it will also let them share the pain of average SGean drawing national average salary pay having ZERO hope of even renting a GCB as well as constantly reminding them of their past inappropriate relationship wrongs while they conduct their inappropriate relationship investigation on other offenders.

the discomfort with tcj's affair is that he was found out 3 years ago yet he maintains his position as a MP, speaker and he even chaired the COI for RK. it's business as usual, as if nothing happens. if not for the blow up, will they bring it to grave and we are none the wiser. resigning and fade into the background seem too light a sentence for them considering they held office and a prominent figure.

Saw what you want but adultery isn’t a crime lol. And there was also no obvious monetary/ professional benefits that CLH gotten from TCJ too, there isn’t anything much to “cover up”. They can just ask them to step down quietly and stop it at there.

The PAP started this. With group representation, with a minister in the group, helps PAP to take most votes with people tagging along which we can't question. It's better with single ward where we can see the person individually. LKY was willing to lose 2 single seats and take all the group ward without any opposition because of a minster in each group. So many in PAP get free pass in this way.

The Giant Machinery and all sorts of resources etc, they still manage to perform like this. Competing using huge advantages could have made them complacent and weaker. Good discussion and points brought up. But my personal opinion is that cheating isn’t a crime. Yes it is not great for your family and the party self image, but it’s not a crime. I personally rather have an effective politician and policy maker who is infidel than have an ineffective politician who is loyal to his wife.
