Would getting this and the rebel starter set be enough to start playing? Would that make for two equal teams? Would you need the core set also? Thanks
Both of the starter kits will make equal-ish teams; their abilities prevent a true even match. Either kit have all you need to play straight out of the box. Empire Starter kit can get you 17 out of 20 points for a list. Add an Tie Interceptor Expansion to get another great ship. I mention it in this video. czcams.com/video/viJEYdAvAJg/video.html
