What happens if you set the threshold to get say 4db of reduction and you use a ratio of 10:1 would this make sense? if so what would the out come be and if not what would the out come be as well

hi got a question I do shouting rap vocals I sully get a tinny sound like my spit should I use a compressor the one u are using for waves and I want get that tiny sound

You could use this compressor or really any one that has the attack and release settings that you can adjust. For rap vocals, since they are usually more aggressive, the attack and release settings are very critical to control the loud peaks. The more compression you add, the more that the quieter sounds in the recording will get amplified. So stuff like spit, lip smacks, or pops will be more noticeable with compression. So I’d suggest recording line by line until you get the best take.

Dope. How ca we see the changes on a waveform and how we can read them?

If you are in FL Studio then you can use Fruity Limiter. It has a compressor section on there and will show you gain reduction and the new waveform after processing. You can also just have fruity limiter loaded after whatever compressor plug-in you’re using and just use it for the meter to see your waveform after compression. There are also 3rd party plugins you can download to visualize the waveform.

And also you can just export the vocal with compression on it and drag it back into FL to compare to original waveform.

@@mixwithjerry I know in pro tools u can use audiosuite to render one clip at a time Im sure this daw have something similar to it instead of exporting and importing.

What happens if 12db goes pass the threshold and the ratio is set to 4:1 could that mean for every 12db, 3db will be allowed to pass
