    I would have an interesting addition to the "animated lesson", Stevenson was partly inspired by the story of William Brodie who lived a century earlier, often known by his title of Deacon Brodie, was a Scottish cabinet-maker, deacon of a trades guild, and Edinburgh city councillor, who maintained a secret life as a housebreaker, partly for the thrill, and partly to fund his gambling. he was in many ways "proto-Hyde"

      His nanny would tell him extremely gory stories about the crusades. And rl Stevenson loved the bloody parts of those.
