    Visited Raglan Castle and also Skenfrith Castle, earlier this week. Both very different in terms of their design, locations and condition.
    Raglan is a very impressive place and it must have been quite a sight when in it’s prime. The views from the Great Tower are spectacular, especially on a clear sunny day.

    This is practically modern! Get those fancy windows, just right for window seats. For reading. It looks like a kind of builder's sampling of what you can choose if you're in the market for a castle. A showroom.

    Willam herbert ap thomas who built the new gate towers was my 13th great grandfather by marriage. His wife is Lady Gwladys verch David gam my 13th maternal grandmother. Willam was her second husband after Roger Vaughan paternal grandfather was killed in the battle of Agincourt in 1415 along side my other grandfather Dafydd Gam Dehuebarth which is Gwladys father.

    Some castels looks like a prison OUTSIDE.....🌍

    • @MostlyCastles
      @MostlyCastles  Před 3 lety

      Some castles were also used in part as prisons. I expect they look similar because you want to stop people getting in and out and castle architecture lends itself to both purposes.
