      In Europe yellow/green wire is used for earth. It should never have live tension on it. Not even neutral. That would be blue wire here. You made a good video, thank you. But there are a few notes: 1. The yellow-green wire cannot be used anywhere other than Protective Earth (PÉ). 2. Do not connect wires of different colors in the terminal block. 3. Separate the low-current tachometer wires from the power wires in the block on the motor. (This is a sneaky decision by the manufacturers; the mainboard will burn if foam gets on the pad). 4. Blow out the pressure sensor tube, since you've gone so deep.

    • @NicksStuff
      @NicksStuff Před 9 měsíci

      I didn't get the 3. 🤔

    • @sergeipshenichnikov6718
      @sergeipshenichnikov6718 Před 9 měsíci +6

      @@NicksStuff This is a fairly common breakdown. When the foam from the tank (it is enough to pour in the hand washing powder once, it will give a lot of foam) comes out of the tank and flows down the outer wall of the tank onto the motor. The foam gets on the open connector and shorts the high voltage of the rotor to the contact of the tachometer sensor. Then the speed sensor circuit on the board will burn out.

The channel says based in the US but I don't think many people in the US or the UK would want to be messing about with a universal controller especially on an older machine - just buy a second hand board and fit that. The cost of the labour alone would not make it financially viable. It would be cheaper to buy a new machine. There may also be some features on the washing machine which are not provided for in a universal board.

      Its because of affordability (business sell items with Insurance), and they scrap their old appliances and buy another (new or used). Sadly, majority of people in western countries do not practice Green Environmental Protection Laws, i.e. 5Rs
      1 Reduce 2 Reuse 3 Recycle 4 Recover 5 Rethink or Repurpose. We must follow 5Rs. 1. Reduce: Minimize the generation of waste by using resources more efficiently and consuming less. 2. Reuse: Extend the life of products and materials by finding ways to use them again instead of discarding them after a single use. 3. Recycle: Collect, process, and transform materials into new products to prevent them from ending up in landfills. 4. Recover: Extract energy or materials from waste through processes like waste-to-energy, contributing to resource recovery. 5. Repurpose or Rethink: Encourage a shift in thinking and behaviour towards more sustainable choices, considering the environmental impact of decisions and promoting a broader awareness of the consequences of consumption and waste generation. The video looks like from Asia (India or Pakistan), where people cannot afford new things and repair and use old appliances.

From the connections that were burned I concluded it was a door switch which caught a water and caused a short in a circuit. It's worth to note that I found a new controller for this specific washing machine, but it was to expensive. I live in Europe and a repair of this magnitude (including labor and shipping) would cost more than half the price of a new washing machine. It is then a question whether this is worth doing with, for example, a 5-6 year old washing machine.

      There's not much to a washing machine. At its heart is basically a timer. The circuits are run to specific timings, on a cycle. You can see the theory in operation on those old dishwashers that use mechanical mode dials that rotate electrically as the program runs. They are quite simple in theory.

    I did not know there was a universal control board. But i want to slap you for using the colour wires you have used. Also in the UK we only use a cold water supply . And therefore it is important to use the heater element. However i see an issue with not connecting the heater with a hot water supply , as if the hot water input temperature is not high enough the program won't move on. Also would be better to remove the old program knob and fit the new controller over that to cover the old programs. I do like the principle of repair over throw away for my self as an experienced appliance engineer. just for the hell of it. But would find it hard to justify the cost to some one else on time charged on the retro modification .

    • @tommeier2299
      @tommeier2299 Před 9 měsíci +1

      as far as I understood him, he just didn't connect the heater element in his lab setup. The heater needs water, otherwise it will get destroyed. He will connect it in the washing machine of course.

    It's hard to see if you have grounded all metal elements to protective earth (PE), not only because you use the green/yellow wire colour against the purpose but also because you don't mention equipment equipotential grounding. Without restoring all ground points, the machine can become a death trap if an electrical fault occurs.

    • @den1811
      @den1811 Před 9 měsíci

      Если её не вскрывать под напряжением ничего не произойдёт. Корпус заземлён и этого достаточно.
